I just saw the 30 minutes Project cars 2 meeting and I still can't think of anything GTS will do that P cars 2 won't do too (and they talk about their systems very openly: thoings that work and things that still need tweaks.. it's concrete). The only thing i can think of is the FIA deal...which we know absolutley nothing in terms of what it will concretely mean in terms of gameplay.

The esports focus is in P cars 2...and PD has everything to prove on that matter (from what I read here and there, the beta is not a smooth ride at all)

Can anyone think of ONE concrete idea that GTS brings that is unique and really original?

I mean: what is GTS's value-added?

Graphics? Ok...but no dynamic TOD or dymamic weather system are HUGE cons. MASSIVE downgrade from the previous gen. (quite baffling to be honest)

Seriously: 4 years in the making... probably around 1 year delay, for a GT "light"? Things are getting worse and worse for PD in terms of production value.

Kaz said it would come quicker, GT5 and 6 cars were future-proof, etc... And yet: here we are.

My favorite series of all time is dying...and it's killing me.

Boooooohoooooo....

Solal, you have been whining and moaning since GT5. Give it a rest, you might have been a GT fan at some point but I would say for certain you haven't been one for a while. A real GT fan can and should absolutely criticize some of the idiotic things GT does, what you do however is not simple criticism, it goes beyond that.
gutterboy is an example of someone who offers good criticism.

Yes the texture of the aluminum crankset is a little below the rest .. if it is that it is ok ^^
Just beautiful, scape mode and indoor / outdoor modeling are incredible oO

Eh, a road coarse is a road coarse, don't care if it is fake as long as it is a good track. Plenty of real world Tilke tracks that are garbage. Who the hell wants another oval in a GT game though? That seems like something no one is asking for.

3 new original tracks that no one asked for: Blue Moon Bay, Dragontrail Seaside, and Sardegna Windmills

https://www.gtplanet.net/here-are-the-three-new-tracks-coming-to-gt-sport/

So far 1/3 of the track list is made of new fake tracks. This game is a mess.

No one asked for it because no one knew about em, you have yet to race on them to see if they are actually good. That aside, who the fuck was in charge of naming those tracks, they need to be publicly flogged for giving such terrible names.

Wow... they should delay the game if the final builds tracks and backgrounds aren't considerably better and more polished. I'm hoping that this isn't an indication of what we're going to get in the end. If this is recent stuff, which I'm not saying it is, I hope they delay this game again.

This so much.

The EU beta will start soon, I'm a BT and they said that PD want to have first the GT6 player for testing the game and next all the other so i think that all of you that have subscribed for this beta and have played GT6 are probably invited.

Who is "they"... we somewhat ruled "played GT6" out as a criterium before, or is this new for the EU beta?

I still bet it's completely random.

I can only comment about the U.S., but I'm thinking completely random. My friend has played the ever loving poop out of all GT games on and offline and uses a nice wheel set up. He's not in and isn't happy about it.

Him not being in with me being in is like someone who only reads the New York Post being considered for a career in journalism while a proper investigative reporter sits at home reading blogs.

The EU leader of Beta Trial have said that they can't let us test the game at the first batch because PD want only GT6 player first and he's trying to let all of us involved in this beta.

All now officially announced with a plethora of images if someone wants to post...GT Planet have em...Dogsh!t posts can then continue...

Awesome, original tracks sounds great to me.

Man, some of you are so out of touch with what makes GT great. And by some of you I mean Yiazmat, Wax and Solal. Have fun playing other racing games, I'll have fun with GT, and we can all be happier as a result.

There are seriously GT fans that want a GT game without any original tracks? Seriously?

Where did I say that tho? I like some of the classics, those are the ones they should bring back. (remade from scratch please, not with 15 year old assets)

My problem is with the crappy new ones that feel like they were designed by the same guy who did Cape Ring.

Bets tracks in GT are fantasy. Fake tracks > your reality.

Not the ones from the last 12 years, no.

After this 'serious' GT with FIA and whatever licensing and modern tracks I want Polyphony to release as next game:

GT Retro

featuring:
- all the fantasy tracks from GT 1-4
- all the music from GT 1-4
- GT3's arcade mode
- locked 60fps replays
- normal street cars, preferably the cheap ones we ourselves drive and we don't need all those cockpits, bonnet and chase cam will suffice

Release date: 2018

Thank you Polyphony

Seems like the collision models are way oversized.
Unfortunately that's been a Gran Turismo issue for as long as I can remember. It needs to be sorted out more than anything else. This is priority.

Nothing broke can't be fixed. But PD is a mixed bag when it comes to turning things around or failing to deliver on big promises. I think this should have been called a technical alpha. There is a pretty consistent benchmark of closed beta, open beta and then quality of game at release that people are familiar with, especially on consoles. Q1 2018 would be fine with me.
I don't understand why you post, the majority of the time, in a thread for a game you really don't seem to like. Maybe I've been really lucky but I have had some amazing online races in GT5. Less so in GT6...but then I haven't played it anywhere near as much because GT5 is just better. GT5 too launched with difficulties but it was, without question, the most supported one-off titles of the generation.

Games of this generation are needlessly released with issues but GT Sport, considering it's positioning, suggests it will be supported for a long, long time. I know the goal-posts are a lot narrower for this title because of the FIA's involvement but time will tell if it's sponsorship ends up being successful or if it dissolves into the ether.

I hope I get in to the EU BETA program so I can post my experience. It might be different to US customers.

Gutterboy just delete it. Then you can stop playing something you dislike atleast.

Atleast you get to play it. I know I'm never getting in the beta but to complaim so much about what cars you getin a beta seems really bizzare. I'd love to drive a pinto in the game.
Oh...I'm a bit late!

If you can't tolerate people discussing what is wrong with a beta, and with a franchise that has stagnated, stop coming to this thread or just block me. Go tell PD to delete the bug report forum because why bother, it is just people complaining. I am sorry you didn't get in the beta, that doesn't make the Megane any better and it doesn't make the fact that I received 10 cars in one class before receiving a second in another any more enjoyable. There are only three races you can do online and each is locked to a class, so if you have a shitty car in one class, that is a third of your entire online experience tied to that car in the beta.

Edit: For the record, I participate far more in the bug section of the beta forums than I do here. This is where I discuss GTS, but I write up specific issues where it matters. Oh and hey look at that, a patch that uses player feedback. Almost like it is a healthy feedback system to point out where a game is shit during a testing phase.
Wow...relentless. It's not about being tolerant. It's about the person who just doesn't want to like it anyway. He isn't tolerant, either.

List time. Post things you actually like about Gran Turismo, if there are any.

Must say I don't care for rally circuits...from experience.

That red Porsche. Damn that's impressive.

Didn't think I'd see the day. Now we need a classic Polyphony-cut trailer to complete the greatness.

I do not care for rocks and leaves as long as tracks are good.

My man.

Alright, 3 new fantasy tracks!

Sardegna Windmills, a rally course.

Blue Moon Bay, an oval.

And the most promising one, Dragontrail Seaside

Servers are back up. Events are still the same as earlier this morning, although The Ring is ending in a little less than 30m. I tried out Northern Isle again and right away I noticed that they've changed where it registers the placement of the end of the first sector. My high sector times for it were around 6.3 in the 4C and with this latest update it's now at 5.5 as it now registers the time at the very end of the corner instead of when your car straightens out.

The online races continue to be a sub standard experience across the board. I had the rare chance of going wheel to wheel with another car without him warping and wiggling all over the place, or without my car going mute. Going into a corner he over braked substantially and it caught me off. I couldn't slow down enough, and it looked like I was about to give him a little love tap. We are talking maybe 5mph difference. No ghost crap happened, however our collision just didn't register. We occupied the same space briefly. Later that lap when I passed him, he bumped me from behind when it looked like he was still a good distance off my bumper, kind of like the GIF on the previous page of the magical buffer zone.

Let's say I live with the meh sounds, the lack of proper drivetrain, the wonky tuning, the lack of features available to test in a beta phase, etc. Say that this game is exactly what I want and that I am content with the scope and quality of the above mentioned. All I want to do is race online. The bare minimum of conditions one would expect from an online racing game are not even close to being met. It is wildly inconsistent and even when things occasionally seem to run smooth, something fails and degrades the experience.

You need to look past the eye candy and see that this game is in a pathetic state right now. The near flawless systems you need in place to begin to build a competitive online racing community around are the parts of this game that are in the worst state. If this was GT7, I'd say fuck it, online has never been an appealing part of a GT game for me because of how behind the curve PD is. I just want to buy 900 cars and drive them around as many tracks as I can. But, this is Gran Turismo Sport. The intent of this game is online competitive racing, not car porn the game. I am baffled how anyone can be remotely satisfied with the state of this game if you actually give a shit about racing in racing games.

On a positive note, I have never been more happy to see a Hyundai pop up as a reward car than last night. Finally a fucking FR GR.4 car. Instantly knocked 2 seconds off my Tokyo time compared to the Megane. FF cars are the worst.

Edit: When GTS was first announced I thought it was a bad idea based on how behind the times PD has been with online racing. I much rather them try expanding the offline experiences and blend them in a creative way with multiplayer experiences beyond just straight races at race tracks. I was hoping for GT7, but with a fresh approach. But, once it looked like they were willing to start copying industry standards and maybe go for an iRacing-Light on consoles (and when I learned I could get my G27 to work on PS4) I started to get a little excited. Like, ok they just have to nail the basics, and I can have an alternative to iRacing for maybe a little less intense but competitive online racing experience.
no offense man, but you seem overly critical and negative on just about all aspects of well...everything lol.

From a more casual perspective, this is looking like a solid GT to me, and after a few updates with cars, will feel like a proper GT7 even. You've have a few updates/previews that are welcome, but don't sour up the thread with constant "PD sucks so much" plz...

This isn't GT7, this is GT Sport. Pop over to the official bug list and beta forums. Take a look at the detailed physics discussion on GT Planet. My comments here are kids gloves. The entire point of a beta is to critique, submit, patch and repeat.
