Sony Playstation: First Party Studios & their Current Projects

Nah they can't have a bigger card... I mean, what would it be? I bet they have a lot of big stuff to show and they wanted to get out of the way the reveal of Part II and start to work hard on the game.

I think is safe to asume that E3 will feature: God of War, Days Gone, Spiderman, Detroit, Dreams, Uncharted Lost Legacy, GT Sports, maybe Sucker Punch game? and all the third party, VR, and indie games. It's already packed.

E3 presser closes with '5' flashed for 1 second.

Man with Uncharted: LL coming out this August. Sony seems to really be using this year to bolster the PS4. There's something for everyone.

Don't know when they can release GT:Sport.

We all know in September Sony will be all in with Destiny. RDR they'll have this year as well if it's not delayed.

And They'll have Battlefront 2 this year.

Btw, where is Jenova Chen and his next game? I can see him signing at least a (console?) temporal exclusive + marketing deal with Sony like many important indies did these recent years.

thatgamecompany announced a new game for 2017. It'll be multiplat.

Called it when it didn't have a date at psx full year delay for gt sport expecting November

Gaf servers would legit be down for hours if Bloodborne 2 got announced.

I'm no Souls fanatic, but I liked the game enough that I'd be quite excited at the prospect of a sequel. Would rather have a new MediEvil though. ;)

Really though I have no idea what a Medievil looks like in 2017...... maybe funny Souls?....oh man now I want funny Souls.

SONY GET FROM SOFTWARE TO MAKE FUNNY SOULS

EDIT: God damn Medievil souls, but with some difficulty options thrown in for easier play would just be perfect. Sarcastic gargoyles in a souls game...gahhh.....its be like Labriynth or something

Maybe, maybe not, but I don't think they would have announced it there if they didn't have some big announcements planned for E3. They've been the talk of the town for the last few E3's and I don't think they want that to change

I agree with your first point. A big part of the announcement was to shut up the "PSX just focuses on indies and nothing big gets announced there" talk
Sure, I can agree with that. They'll have some big stuff lined up.

Yep, to show people it is an event to pay attention to. Big E3 and very solid PSX at the end of the year. I would be more than fine with that every year.

Welp guess it's not day one for me then
I understood that reference.

If that is the case, they shouldn't made Uncharted Lost Legacy either.

They can handle a side project or two and still make TLoU II great.

Lost Legacy started out as DLC (like Left Behind before it), which obviously reuses a lot of assets and design from Uncharted 4 and they had planned years in advance. It also seemed to serve as a relatively small project most of the studio could work on to give Druckmann a bit of time to finish up TLOU2 pre-production work. So I'm not really seeing hot its existence means they MUST have another small project in the works.

I figure it would be something like Ratchet and Clank. A reimagining of a previous game that wouldn't be in development for very long. Something a small team works on while the vast majority work on TLoU2.

I'm just playing around with ideas for how it could work. I don't think this is what they are actually doing. I do think they have some stuff going for that new IP though.

Unlike Naughty Dog, Insomniac have two studios (their original Burbank studio and their North Carolina studio) and have been a "proper" multi-team developer for years. And as far as I'm aware, R&C 2016 had a fairly large team, it was the first project both of Insomniac's studios worked together on.

I get that you're throwing ideas around but it's just not going to happen. The only way it does is if Evan Wells and Arne are outright lying about the structure of the studio and there's no reason to believe they're doing so.

I think Sanzaru wanted to create a Batman Arkham-like Sly game (which would've been freaking fantastic) but couldn't due to budget constraints.

A darker (not Jak II edgy darker) Sly game would be fantastic with gameplay like Batman's slow one-by-one takedown stealth system thing.

Yeah, I wanted to see them get to do another Sly (or take a try at Jak). I really liked their first one.

KH3 has like 5 combined minutes of gameplay footage since being announced in 2013. I would not bet the house on seeing FF7 at E3.

I think we will, it's been a while. Either at E3 and/or PSX, maybe one at each if we're lucky.

Last year I felt they perfected both the E3 and PSX shows. Big AAA games at E3 with minimal talking and a focus on smaller but still awesome games at PSX with just enough "big" things in there

I know. I was just referring to the studio going multiplat. Obviously if the ever want to make a sequel they will have to work with Sony again. Or Sony can put someone else on a sequel

First party wise, there isn't any bigger card than TLOU2. Announcing it at PSX when they know Microsoft and Nintendo are gonna be coming out guns blazing is a promising sign for them though

Your post doesn't make sense then since you proclaimed it's not happening.

What do you think we'll see from God of War this time around? A gameplay demo again or just a 3 minute story trailer of sorts showcasing bosses, level variety and story info?

Gameplay demo that looks more like traditional GOW. Lots of enemies and craziness, huge setpiece/boss fight. Quell some of the "walking sim" concerns

Yeah, TLOU2... That's a HUGE card to play imo. I mean, there are never any guarantees, but it sure seems to point to the notion that they have even bigger cards than that.
I can't think of any game bigger than TLOU2 not even GT. TLOU:R is still selling strongly to this date. Sometimes Sony just want to market the game the best they can and putting it at PSX meant it'd have the stage all for itself instead of fighting two new consoles and tons of hufe announcements.

So for the remainder of the year sony still has:

Wipeout omega
Patapon
Loco roco ps4
Uncharted LL
Gran Turismo

And potentially:
Hot shots golf
Knack 2 (holiday kids bundle)
Matterfall
Ni no kuni 2

On top of several 3rd party deals... seem pretty impressive and 2018 kicks off in similar fashion for them too

If hots shots golf isn't a lock I'll chuck a golf ball at somebody's head. At least it has a window I'd switch it with gt

Them choosing to release a trailer and drop the release date right now, for Uncharted: Lost Legacy, and showing TLOU2 at PSX, makes me think that once again they have a few big surprises lined up for this year's E3.

Unfortunately I don't think Sanzaru's working on anything like that. All their job listings on their site list VR games.

Boo. I really don't care about VR. I'd rather they get the chance to have another crack at a platform adventure again first. Heck, let them break free and make something totally new. They've already cut their teeth on some else's franchise.

Also, fun fact: Asad means lion in Arabic

So not only does he have a great name, but his first name also means lion?!

Wow, Trigger. That was some nice prose back there

Thanks dude :)

It is time...

Even still the fall isnt as barren as others have made it out to be the only thing more i could ask for is an horizon zd expansion this fall and hulk ultimate destruction ps2 on ps4

Do you guys/girls think there'll be a surprise at E3 or will it just be everything we expect (Days Gone, Sucker Punch, Spider-Man etc.)

Also, fun fact: Asad means lion in Arabic

I mean, where are these surprises going to come from? Having a hard time thinking of who could be working on them besides obvious ones like Sucker Punch

People have been talking about DMC5 for years

FromSoft might reveal what they have on their own time

People had been saying the same thing for the surprises over the last two years as well.

First party wise no I don't expect any 'surprises' outside of a VR game from London/North West or a sooner than expected release date for a AAA game. Third party wise, anything's possible.

Wha!!? I miss everything

Here it is.

Looks like everything I wanted in a sequel; more eras (PREQUELS!), more heroes, and a single player campaign with an original story set in the OT era.

Between this, Horizon, Zelda, Persona, RE7, Destiny 2, RDR2, Uncharted: Lost Legacy, GT Sport and whatever else Sony's first party has planned for this year... this is going to be 1998 levels of incredible, IMO.

So anyone peep the Battlefront 2 leaked trailer?

Sony doesn't need to release anything first party related after Lost Legacy. Destiny 2 will be huge and that BF2 trailer was hype.

Give us some gameplay and the hype train will be rolling for that game when the movie marketing starts.

I unno... normally I'd agree but I don't see Sony relaxing. I think the pressure from NX and will keep Sony hungry.
Oh, I meant droughts in terms of having those huge announcements. It is just a matter of time before that well dries up. They can't keep having huge announcements year after year.

They can still have good or great shows overall though.

So we now have confirmation that they have Destiny 2, Battlefront 2, and Red Dead Redemption 2 marketing rights. Wonder if they'll hold onto COD too.

They're going to sell alot of PS4s again this fall.
