This isn't GT7, this is GT Sport. Pop over to the official bug list and beta forums. Take a look at the detailed physics discussion on GT Planet. My comments here are kids gloves. The entire point of a beta is to critique, submit, patch and repeat.
So like do they send out more invites to NA over time or they full up?

The online races continue to be a sub standard experience across the board. I had the rare chance of going wheel to wheel with another car without him warping and wiggling all over the place, or without my car going mute. Going into a corner he over braked substantially and it caught me off. I couldn't slow down enough, and it looked like I was about to give him a little love tap. We are talking maybe 5mph difference. No ghost crap happened, however our collision just didn't register. We occupied the same space briefly. Later that lap when I passed him, he bumped me from behind when it looked like he was still a good distance off my bumper, kind of like the GIF on the previous page of the magical buffer zone.
Let's say I live with the meh sounds, the lack of proper drivetrain, the wonky tuning, the lack of features available to test in a beta phase, etc. Say that this game is exactly what I want and that I am content with the scope and quality of the above mentioned. All I want to do is race online. The bare minimum of conditions one would expect from an online racing game are not even close to being met. It is wildly inconsistent and even when things occasionally seem to run smooth, something fails and degrades the experience.
You need to look past the eye candy and see that this game is in a pathetic state right now. The near flawless systems you need in place to begin to build a competitive online racing community around are the parts of this game that are in the worst state. If this was GT7, I'd say fuck it, online has never been an appealing part of a GT game for me because of how behind the curve PD is. I just want to buy 900 cars and drive them around as many tracks as I can. But, this is Gran Turismo Sport. The intent of this game is online competitive racing, not car porn the game. I am baffled how anyone can be remotely satisfied with the state of this game if you actually give a shit about racing in racing games.
On a positive note, I have never been more happy to see a Hyundai pop up as a reward car than last night. Finally a fucking FR GR.4 car. Instantly knocked 2 seconds off my Tokyo time compared to the Megane. FF cars are the worst.
Edit: When GTS was first announced I thought it was a bad idea based on how behind the times PD has been with online racing. I much rather them try expanding the offline experiences and blend them in a creative way with multiplayer experiences beyond just straight races at race tracks. I was hoping for GT7, but with a fresh approach. But, once it looked like they were willing to start copying industry standards and maybe go for an iRacing-Light on consoles (and when I learned I could get my G27 to work on PS4) I started to get a little excited. Like, ok they just have to nail the basics, and I can have an alternative to iRacing for maybe a little less intense but competitive online racing experience.

European Beta starts Saturday.
You can still sign up for it here:

Please stop reducing my chances of getting into the beta by giving lazy unobservant casuals the opportunity to take my ticket. Thank you.
I'm almost tempted to purchase GT6 digitally to maybe enhance my chances, would I get it downloaded and patched up in 48 hours?
Where did I say that tho? I like some of the classics, those are the ones they should bring back. (remade from scratch please, not with 15 year old assets)
My problem is with the crappy new ones that feel like they were designed by the same guy who did Cape Ring.
Not the ones from the last 12 years, no.
I don't understand what's hard to comprehend man. It's car porn. The replays are still your actions just stylized and made prettier. Every race gets turned into a little mini-movie just for you. Sometimes the stuff you guys complained about honestly it's like you have no idea what the average GT player (who makes up the bulk of sales) even does in these games. This is a terrible image to illustrate your point (it could hardly be more compressed) but when it comes to racing games I never understood the love for photomode/replay gifs and images. You don't play the game from those angles. It never looks nearly as good in actual gameplay when playing.
I get you, and you haven't been cramping up the thread or anything like that it's just GAF has a tendency to be very negative about everything but especially GT. Just offering perspective from the other side. GTS or GT7, a lot of the gripes some of you have I will just never care about. This isn't GT7, this is GT Sport. GAF is a community of core/hardcore gamers. I don't know what you expected.
Maybe you should also consider our perspective.
GT Sport review thread will be insane, as even looking way ahead just now Sport cutting back features, cars and most likely not improving enough, is going to equal reviewers destroying it. At this stage I say have at it reviewers, as something has to get PD learning. Given their continued strong sales figures I don't think anything will ever penetrate Kaz's armour.
I expect 70s and 80s tops. I really don't know who was asking for GT Sport. After GT6 being a bit disappointing and should have been on PS4, they decide to nuke the idea of GT7 and spend years working on a cut down GT Sport. MP functionality is already decent in other driving games which manage to still care about SP. PD are basically saying here's your GT Prologue with a more robust online system. To which many are still bashing from the beta.
Everything, everything, will hinge on the online experience.
Literally nothing else will matter if the netcode isn't fit for purpose, unless people are happy to spend sixty bucks placing 3D models of cars into jpegs of mountain ranges.

Yeah, this is my biggest gripe, who asked for this? and what the heck is the point of having the best MP experience ever and dismantle the SP one?True. The sad thing for me is I don't really care about MP. I'm a SP guy first. However, I can't knock or not appreciate good MP. As I said other racing games manage to include perfectly fine MP. Even if GT Sport excels feature wise over every other racing game with MP, as you said, that net code. Any problems day 1 or for reviews then Hello Driveclub level of slaughtering.
Gutting SP is forever going to have me salty but that might just be me and anyone who thinks alike who have to move on from GT and go elsewhere for a robust SP racing experience. I guess we'll find out soon how that impacts on GT sales figures.
Yeah, this is my biggest gripe, who asked for this? and what the heck is the point of having the best MP experience ever and dismantle the SP one?

Especially since it's really just some strung together races that earn you credits and cars against stupid AI, really doesn't seem like something that has to be neglected for the sake of stronger MP. Could bite them in the butt. Eagerly awaiting what the delay has improved.

yup, at this point, with successes and failures of first party tiles like Horizon, The Order, Driveclub and Bloodborne, I'm sure Yosh knows what's up. I don't think they were shocked by Knack reviews, or Killzone, or even The Order, DC may have came out of left field because of the tech issues though. It's fairly easy to get a beat on when a game is going to review well, perhaps not sell a couple million copies, but they have to know after the SFV debacle, that stripped games will not succeed outside of the established popular genres. As you said, stuff like Rocket League and Overwatch didn't have to launch with 100 hours of SP stuff because of it's genre and focus on make believe fun. I don''t really care how good the MP is Kaz, Yosh needs to tell the team "Hey, fan expectation is a robust SP experience, you have to give them something here and update it".Biiiig MP games go big these days. It still remains to be seen if a racing game can do that. Rocket League isn't a racing game. It's cars and a football. Other stuff that is huge is usually always based around shooting mechanics like Destiny and Overwatch. Or MMOs. Not simulators but games based around fun or make believe.
Even with the size of the GT brand I question whether a racing games online MP has all that much room for expansion. It's been challenging to keep racing games relevant for a while, with many of the sales still being kept going from SP components keeping people happy to unlock cars, grind levels, unlock tracks and have some fun for a month or two. Going "full MP" is a bold move and there is already grumbling within the GT community, as that other franchise I shan't name, like Voldemort, is continuing to do both SP and MP and improves on both each year(s).
If this is the future they want as said that net code better be the best in the industry. Launching day 1 with 23GB patches, server errors and pls understand for a month will be a sword in the heart of GT.

Basically, it keeps moving away from being a "game" and going to some crazy Kaz vision of being something exclusively for real life drivers. Bold move as we'll see how many gamers keep staying with the brand given its them who make up the sales figures, not the Pro racing drivers.

Tbh stopped paying attention to mainstream media after how they treated GT5. More curious to see the fan reception.
I would say a SP campaign is crucial and strong online infrastructure. Having regular updates would be nice as well.

I didn't know GT games had "bad sounds" weak thumb animations, or not getting the "feel" of a proper throttle or whatever for so many cars until I came to GAF. The "filthy" casual as many would say doesn't care about this crap at all.
Going "full MP"
