Limited Run Games - Putting digital games into your hands

So your localization dreams include Vita? That's all I needed to hear.

I'm sure you can come to the community for suggestions of small action-focused games. Hopefully if it's successful you may be able to work your way up to bigger stuff. I just hope there's enough of a Vita market around next year to make such games viable.

With all this Vita Switch comparison stuff going around, it feels like people are looking for a reason to leave the platform, or speed up its death. I don't understand why they need to be compared in the first place. Anyway, if enough of us stick around for the next couple years, then witnessing an LRG small localization run would be a very exciting time in the platforms life cycle.

Question for Limited Run Games.

If I purchase the Dariusburst Limited Edition should I bother ordering a card board box for it to shipping? Will it fit in the box? Or are custom shipping boxes available for order?

Thank you!

It won't happen this year as it requires a lot of resources we don't currently have (importantly - someone fluent in Japanese and business to hash out licensing deals). It's something we're hoping to do in 2018. It'd have to start small with action focused games rather than text-heavy RPGs or VNs. It is something I certainly think we'll need to do to ensure Vita content continues to exist for a few more years. I think new indie stuff will start drying up in 2018.

it is finally time for assault gunners to come west

Straight from the product page, "Each limited edition will be shrink-wrapped and will be shipped in a sturdy box protected in bubble wrap."

I think the real question remains with those crazy enough to attempt nabbing the Darius LE along with a copy of Flinthook. Would I need to purchase a box just to protect Flint assuming both games will ship separately or will they actually be bundled together somehow?

Well, they are releasing on separate days. Ray Gigant and Flinthook on April 14. No set date yet for Dariusburst, but I assume it'll be towards the end of the month.

I think they know their customers and won't do anything that would increase the chance to damage a game, since many people will be getting a LE and a regular edition of Dariusburst.

Ah, you're correct. I was getting Ray Gigant and Dariusburst mixed up for a moment. However, I do suspect that the latter will launch alongside another product to keep in line with pairing releases for international customers.

Having an issue trying to play Astebreed. Before I look into support tickets or anything, want to see if anyone has experience similar issues.

When I put the disc in, the game seems to install like normal. When I launch the game, the splash screen shows, I hear the disc drive kinda stop and go a couple times, and then it quits out and shows an error message. I tried deleting the application and starting over again, about 3 times, to the same result. Only other time I've seen this issue was with Shantae: Risky's Revenge, but it resolved as soon as I deleted the install and tried again.

The symptoms make it seem like a disc drive thing, but I started Hyper Light Driver earlier this morning, and Song of the Deep right after Astebreed (all first time installs), and both were fine. HLD installed a system update, which I assume is the latest.

Anything I should try?

Has LRG considered contacting Ninja Theory for their upcoming release of Hellblade? Genuinely surprised that Sony hasn't footed the bill for a physical print given that it's a console exclusive and their past ties with Heavenly Sword.

Do you have an original or Pro model of the PS4? I just had a strange booting issue with the Hyper Light Drifter pressing the other evening in the opening cutscene, but relaunching the game managed to fix the issue. I can pop my copy of Astebreed in my Pro variant to see whether it installs properly if that'll assist in some way.

Original, still using the one I got right around launch. Haven't heard of anyone else with issues, so it seems like it must just be isolated to the disc I have. Wasn't sure if disc reading/install problems happen too often in general though.

Does the Stranger's Wrath card deck code expire at some specific time during April 14th or am I good as long as I place an order before it's April 15th? I'm going to bundle it with Flint Hook and I want to be sure the code won't expire before Flint Hook goes live.

@LRG:

I'm still biting my nails here whether you'll be putting "Dariusburst" LE on April 28, which will pretty much be the only day of the year I'll be without internet access. :(((
Anyway, a thing to consider is that April 21 might be a lot better for folks who get paid in the middle of the month!

Or not. Grasping at straws here. ^^

Given that they're making enough space between releases, which I think it's a very wise move, the next run would be April 28th.

We know that we can sell 2,800 copies of a physical game without breaking a sweat, so if we can keep budgets within the amount that that would generate - it'd make the digital sales gravy. I don't think demand for physical Vita games will ever die out enough to where we couldn't sell 2,800 copies of a solid game.

It'll ship in a sturdy box by default, wrapped in bubble wrap. We don't want to risk many of these getting damaged as we only have exactly 2,000.

I hope Limited Run Games didn't sign Deemo, a game that's been available for over a year as an import. I'm wondering how close they'll keep to the "not sign games that have been available physically elsewhere in english", as Skullgirls is already one of them.

I actually passed on Deemo in the hopes LRG brings it over, since they mentioned they were looking into it a while back. So yeah, I hope they did sign Deemo as that game looks nice.

I don't think they really care. As long as they think the game sells, they will sign it given the opportunity.

We just got iam8bit releasing HLD and LRG with Ys Origins, games with English import version. We even got people canceling their play-asia order to get it from LRG. Deemo has DLC so there will be interest for a US version.

@LRG could I get an answer on this? :S

How backed up is the domestic shipping? Been sitting 6 days at label printed.

Everything is 99% packed. They are wrapping up hold orders now. The problem is our local USPS can't handle our volume apparently so we are looking into sending our packages to a different location.

We will no longer pre-print labels in such large batches since this has been a problem with some people, the new way should help alleviate any stress on the customer side. No more seeing a label created unless it's actually moving soon.

For this run almost 15,000 games were packed in about a week. This has been one of our fastest shipments.

I hate this and I hate that I have to pay for the cards.... I just keep forgettong to add them to the basket.

So I'll skip them :(

No problem, just looking for an update. Thanks for the information. I imagine you're not very popular with the postal employees :)

In NC they are probably despised. My local PO is terrible and managed to lose a package for a week after they left a notice in my box. They hate to handle to much volume unless you give them gifts or are a friend.

Sounds pretty common. If it was private sector, they'd maybe look at it as job security.

I'd bet you can get significantly more than that for most Japanese stuff, if there's one thing you can bet on with Vita fans it's liking Japanese stuff.

Pls. I do not like to be teased for that long.

That's what is insane about the post office. It is technically a private sector but it's rates are federally mandated and that makes it so cheap that they still get a lot of business. I think half of the problem is the under staffing and limited promotional opportunities. People basically sit in the same job for decades.

Anyway onto the actual topic. I am going to try to get both games on Friday. I was just going to get the drpg but after looking into Flinthook it seems like a pretty awesome game.

All of these Curve games, and still no Stealth Inc 2, my favorite game by them :(

Stealth Inc 2 deserves a nice release with a cool map of the "open world". That would be so great.

I only just now realized why I've never heard of Flinthook before. The game's not even out yet!

While it's cool to get a physical version on release day, it makes it much harder for me to decide if I want it for the collection or not. It does look cool though.

If it was on Vita it would have been a guaranteed buy

I'm willing to bet they'll come, all the Curve releases have sold out so far.

I'd like this & Hue and then I'm happy :)

Is it true that Nova-111 is coming out next week by itself?

We can't win with it. We wanted to put it out this week but too many people complained about us adding a game a few days before a sale. If we don't put it up next week there won't be another opportunity for a long time. If we release it alongside DARIUSBURST, many people will pass on it because DBCS is already so expensive. Things are just too crowded in May to try and squeeze another game in.

I might try a poll and see if people prefer it go up with DBCS or by itself and go with whatever result wins. Either way, those are the only two options for it at this point - it's legitimately way too late at this point to introduce it into tomorrow's mix.
