Bayonetta out on Steam (4K, dual audio), $19.99, PC launch trailer, dev diary

That still doesn't beat how Capcom USA announced and released the D&D Collection on PS3/360/WiiU/PC developed by Iron Galaxy, and then Capcom Japan announced their own D&D Collection just for PS3, which is a completely different port done in Japan, released only in Japan.

lolwut

Can I run this at 1080p 60fps on the highest settings on a GTX 780?

If by highest settings, you mean 16x MSAA and the like then probably not.

But with like 4x MSAA, you should be good.

I'm playing it with everything on and high, except SSAO which is Low and MSAA which is x4 and I get a constant 60 fps at 1080p. I have a 760 GTX.

God this game is so good. Walking around looking at everything, interacting with everything, trying to find every crow and find every secret mission. Chapter 5: Lost Holy Grounds is really putting an end to my full Platinum playthrough of Normal. Grace & Glory as well as Fairness & Fearless do NOT fuck around. Especially before getting Bat Within. What a game.

I finally beat the bosses, got to a completely different chapter area, quit to the chapter menu, and then had to replay the whole thing.

Is there any safe way to pause and quit in the middle of a chapter? Obviously retrying individual segments works perfectly, so I'm pretty confused.

It follows the traditional Devil May Cry formula, you can only save after completing a chapter.

If Sega sees value in the future of the franchise it'll happen, but it's not something they can just drop instantly like they did here. Bayonetta 2 being a Nintendo exclusive makes it more complicated too.
I think that if it will be done, it will be after these SEGA/PlatinumGames PC ports are done -- and that is assuming it'll even happen. I think Vanquish is a safe bet, but Anarchy Reigns is uncertain.

But bundling all three of those for a physical release may be the way to do it.

I actually had the game freeze on me, but picking the continue option put me back at the last checkpoint I was at.

I'm under the impression that this was the Pure Platinum save scam tech lol

They do feel right if the devs use raw input for mouse camera control instead of this shitty controller signal that gets put out through the mouse. Moving the camera in this game and all platinum ports feels like your moving through mudd. Raw fucking input solves your problem. Dark Souls got it after the first game.

I consider the perfect camera control provided by raw input mouse controlls to be far superior to the analogue movement provided by a pad. The nonsense in this thread about 3rd person being "unplayable" is just typical console gamers on a console forum who dont know or arent acustomed to M/Kb. If done right such games can be excelent on mouse and keyboard. Theres no type of game in existence that is "unplayable" on M/Kb - this is such a potent control scheme that it can play everything, designed for it or not. Its the controller which is a piece of shit and needs almost every type of game specially designed and adapted for it, in ways most people dont realise, which is why some reactions to the guy wanting proper camera controls with mouse are hilarious.

You're completely right. However didn't Transformers have good mouse controls? I don't have it installed anymore to check but I remember it not having the mouse issues that other games had.

I haven't loaded it up yet to see for myself, but really all they need to do is have raw mouse input for the camera. As long as all the buttons are properly bindable (and from the footage I've seen they are) it should be perfectly playable once that is done.

I really don't think people realize how playable some 3rd person non-shooter games are with m/kb because they grew up only playing them on gamepads. The lack of analog directional movement is solved by having a fast and precise mouse for camera and character orientation. Plus being able to look around quickly while still attacking/comboing with mouse buttons without having to lose control of the camera (like you would on a gamepad since the face buttons and camera are on the same thumb) just feels great. It's why I am pretty bored of Arkham combat on a gamepad but can still enjoy it with m/kb because with how fast you can target people with the mouse you can just fly around rooms comboing dudes.

I forgot how meaty this game is

Man getting shitty ranks now, can't dodge for shit lol, and I can't remember where half of the verses were.

Oh man, enjoy PC-Gaf! Wish I had a pc to play it...damn burglars also stole my wii u gamepad so I can't even enjoy that version.

One of my alltime faverotes.

Wew, I forgot how difficult I found this game. Getting my ass kicked by nearly every normal enemy in normal haha :')

Finished normal a few hours ago and I caught all the stones :v

That said, I don't find this game too crushing since the checkpoints are actually really nice.

They have like... checkpoints in the middle of boss fights, which is great.

Rank running is another story tho :v

(I mean... I could save scam, but that takes too much effort and I might as well learn how to play solid lol)

MSAA doesn't seem to do much if anything on my system, unless it only works on 16:9 resolutions.

I'm running on a GTX 770 2GB and it's been pretty flawless besides the aspect ratio thing and the missing MSAA. I haven't turned on the highest ambient occlusion or whatever though.

A bigger risk is if you have an AMD CPU. If you have an Intel i3-i5 or newer you should be fine.

Please remember that the REAL game is Non Stop Climax mode.

Happy training!

Does anyone know if there's a way to run the game at 960x540 or 800x450? If someone knows a way to do that I'm buying it

Free games for this marvelous occasion

Awesome giveaway! Good luck everyone.

I'm really surprised by the option to move the UI elements around, lol. It's nice to see a Japanese PC port that's looking to add some extra, low-effort features instead of just struggling to run.

I just tried with Gedosato and it doesn't seem to work, it doesn't show resolutions that low and the Gedosato options that attempt to force it cause the game to crash at launch.

man there are some super-serous quirks with the hex approach to 21:9.

cut-scenes being rendered twice, one on top of the other at least. maybe some cut-scene queues missing too. after the prologue I keep dying fighting on the airplane wing. I assume there is supposed to be a prompt of some kind there, but not that I can see...and I assume it has to do with the hex edit.

Hopefully a more stable solution appears.

is your hud enabled in the options? for some reason it was off in my game when I first started, maybe because I alt-f4'ed or something everything was turned to off lol

While I'm not really much of a PC gamer, I'm glad this game is available to an even wider audience. It's one of the best action games ever made (quite possibly the best of it's kind) and deserves to be played by as many people as possible. The fact that it's also a fantastic port is icing on the cake. As an aside, I really hope Bayonetta 2 isn't stuck on Wii U forever. That's a fantastic game as well (although I personally prefer Bayo 1), so I hope that at least a Switch port is in the cards for it at some point in the future.

It's 30 brazilian monies on nuuvem. That's less than 10 dollars. How could i say no?
I tried to play bayonetta on ps3 years ago but the framerate was abysmal.

Bayo 1 is pretty brutally difficult your first time through (especially the first 5 chapters). If you get to the end and get a Silver average or higher, pat yourself on the back!

With a bit of practice, you'll be Platinuming left and right and feeling awesome doing it. But on your first run, just worry about surviving. :P

This is correct. You can only do a permanent save between chapters, but the game does a temporary save after pretty much every fight (and sometimes even in the middle of boss fights). To load the temporary save, select "Continue" (NOT "Load") on the main menu.

Had same issue. HUD was turned off and all sliders set to minimum. Maybe a quirk of the hex editing? Works fine after I reset the settings.

Yeah, don't remind me >_<
Can't play 360 version anymore, so this is literally the best way I can play it now... Gotta get it sometime for sure.

Is it just me or is Gsync off on this game? Maybe I have to heck that is enabled (recently changed graphic cards), but have to wait to get home for that.

It's amazing to see this released on Steam. I have an Xbox 360 copy, but it's been a part of my backlog since as long as I can recall. Might just double dip and finally play it.

I couldn't seem to get it to work either. I just turned vsync back on cus I want that sweet 5K.
The game sets the refresh rate to 60Hz in fullscreen mode, which can cause it to tear if you disable V-Sync.

NVIDIA seem to have changed how G-Sync works, and you no longer need to disable V-Sync in most games. (just check your monitor's 'FPS' Counter)
V-Sync only seems to control whether the screen tears if the framerate exceeds the refresh rate now.

It's not that G-Sync isn't working, but since Bayonetta is setting the refresh rate to 60Hz, and the framerate is capped at 60 FPS, disabling V-Sync causes it to tear.
I don't know if all G-Sync monitors have this, but mine has a "Turbo" button which overrides the refresh rate set by the game and switches it back to the maximum.
If I hit that, it switches back to 100Hz G-Sync rather than 60Hz G-Sync, and the tearing disappears.

Playing the game in borderless/windowed mode also prevents this from happening, since games generally don't change the refresh rate in windowed mode.
You may have to restart the game the first time after switching from fullscreen to borderless/windowed mode for it to work though.
