My issue with SSB right now is that it's fallen down to SSJ levels of high power but just not enough which means kaioken SSB has become the new trump card.

Watch as in the big royal rumble goku's new skill will be kaioken evolved.

When blue was new and fresh any time goku or vegeta used it you knew something special was going to happen, now it's just a palette swap.

I do wonder if, going by the intro, Goku's new power up is: surprise! No form! Much like Ultimate Gohan.
Given how stale SSJ Blue/God was, it'd make some sense if Toriyama would go a step further and make it even more boring.

Toei threw the author of DBAF a bone by telling him he can make an official manga, but ultimately it's still fanfic. It has no bearing on the anime which is the official story. If a Gaffer were drawing a retelling of DB Super it would have just as much value as Toyotaro's version. Hell it would maybe have better consistency than Toyotaro's version

Well that's true, not filler in reality. I actually liked the story of #17. From being a rebel punk with no other purpose than killing Goku to be an animal protector and responsible father and husband. #16 would be so proud :') I'm not complaining though, I don't mind if they still take several more episodes like this. I'm actually looking forward to see how they reclute Roshi, lol!
