Btw - don't you love it when a shot from a future story trailer gets included in your current story trailer? How come no one is talking about the Asgardian palm trees/beach Hulk was clearly at that no one else in the cast was yesterday.

Hell, even the Vs. Games' backgrounds and animations pale compared to CoTA and MSH. A lot of characters lost animations going into the Vs. Games, and the wonderfully animated scrolling, sometimes multi-tiered stages (like Magneto's CoTA stage or Wolverine's MSH stage) were gone in favor of more static looking locales. Which is the tradeoff for all of the other going for the series visually, admittedly.

I think TvC has the best stages of the 3D bunch. There's actually stuff going on in the background, and it rarely impedes performance.



You can really tell who knows what they're talking about and who doesn't by some of the posts in the thread.

MSH and CotA stages are things of beauty.

Have not been topped in any vs. game.

And lol @ complaining about OTGs in a marvel game.

I do wonder if they'll borrow some CotA mechanics now, though. They seem to want to give you ways to get out of long combos. I wonder if you would be able to use a bar of super meter to do an roll on the ground like CotA (unless I'm misremembering).

Examples? Because he looks like Thor from MvC3 to me, except, you know, nobody used Thor in MvC3.

What do you see that looks similar (since Doom's moveset has been the same since MSH through MvC3)?
 
TvC was too good for this world

I think this is the part we're supposed to pretend the Vs series didn't have OTGs since fucking Children of The Atom

You could always OTG but not like MvC3 where youd bounce em back up and go for even more elaborate touch of death combos. OTGs were very restrained prior to MvC3.

I noted this.. but did not expect beaches at Asgard?

Thought it'd be a Wakandan beach or something.

Yes you could. MSH and XvSF in particular can end up turning into a game of who gets a knockdown into OTG sweep into a touch of death combo first.
 
Hmm watching again that Ammo for Chris might have just been for his Grenade launcher. Strange, but don't take away his Magnum shots, etc.
 
Glad the assists are gone. Back to the old school Xmen - Marvel Vs Streetfighter gameplay. The series became a downward spiral after those starting with Marvel vs Capcom and its striker system spam.

I couldn't see past that ugly ass filter on it. Shame it would look nice otherwise.
 
So, anyone think Phoenix Wright could make it in this play style without assists? or could he get his evidence easier without being spammed with them?

Maya shield might need to be stronger to keep someone off him longer

If anything this system makes it easier to play Phoenix Wright.

You don't play Phoenix Wright on point, you play him as second and then when your point is doing pressure/doing a combo you call in Phoenix Wright to do his stuff.


The game doesn't have traditional assists but you have what is basically "reverse assists". Instead of your anchor covering the point character, your point character covers your anchor character as they come in. So you can do something like a beam special, tag in while your anchor character advances in or you can do mix ups/pressure this way. This is going to be less abusable of course because you are still changing characters, there is inherently more risk involved and there is probably going to be a larger cooldown so it's not easy to switch back and forth. Plus switching uses up red life so it definitely cannot be spammed too much.

But you will still have some moments of Assist-esque game play in this which makes it pretty interesting. Team synergy will matter unlike previously assumed.
 
So more still to come tomorrow? Need some more X gameplay. See how the armors work, what other weapons they gave him, hear his motherfucking voice. It's time to get serious!
 
I hope this game isn't full of infinite combo bullshit.

Might not be infinite but this game is not holding back on the combos at all.

Characters have hard knockdowns on so many moves and just about any low hitting move OTGs. Plus you add in Tag combos and Stone related stuff. I am pretty sure you can get pseudo infinites going with Speed and Space gems. Hulk does Gamma Charge from full screen, the opponent pops up into hard knockdown for an easy combo.


I would not be surprised that this game ships and day 1 people have TOD combos. Even in those basic videos characters were doing easy half life damage off of just mashing whatever the auto combo button is.
 
Just want the following:

- The Hud needs to be more stylish
- Touch the graphics a bit more
- Speed the game up or have it on par with mvc3

Never judge a fighting games speed on pre-release videos. Do you not remember how slow marvel 3 looked originally?

I agree on the other two points though. Usually that's the stuff that happens last so here's hoping.

Let's hope for the best, I got mvc1 flashbacks for some reason. Funny enough I was playing it on my 360 yesterday.

I honestly don't get the appeal of that at all.
 
Looks dope. Glad to see some basic stuff like Advancing Guard in here that people were speculating randomly had been removed. Prefer the aesthetic a lot compared to MvC3.

Also glad to see Ultron won't be stuck using that stupid Sigma design. Classic Ultron is the shit.

Oh and predictably Ultron looks completely underwhelming, needs to rely on fake assists like a bitch.

Oh and the UI is ass.
 
Was able to watch the vid. It's kinda weird seeing Chris do air-dashes w/ flashy pyrotechnics (unless that was a gem buff), then go into "mundane" punches and gunfire for his specials.

Imagine if we get a character like Dante and the ability to do gem combos
