Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 |OT| Anyone can save the galaxy once - SPOILERS!

Also, nice to see Ben Browder in a role, not enough of him around these days.

I am still hoping that Gunn somehow snuck Moya in during one of the busy spaceship scenes.
Woulda been funnier to have some of her crew at the bar that Yondu and the Ravagers were at.

I really enjoyed it, I'd say it's on par with GOTG, which I hold in high regard.

The best way I can think to compare the movie to is a Star Trek episode stretched out to a movie. Pretty much like Star Trek Beyond. Characters split up to eventually end up together again, being in a planet that has a dark secret, and personal conflicts to deal with.

Characters were on point. I didn't doubt this aspect of the movie, and I'm pretty happy that Yondu got some time to work with the team, though I was hoping he'd survive. Then again, we wouldn't get that fantastic ending. Damn it, Gunn!

Drax was a standout. Holy shit, Dave Bautista killed it, especially with Mantis. The very brief moment of Drax talking about his daughter by the pond with Mantis was great. Drax/Mantis was a good pairing even just for that scene.

Ego was a huge upgrade from Ronan. Certainly helps that he's connected to Peter. That moment he tells Peter that he killed his mom in such a nonchalant way was damn cruel.

We got more Gamora/Nebula sibling stuff, more than I thought we'd get. I actually wish there was more time to stretch that out. Yondu playing psychiatrist to Rocket would've been great for more time. In the end, this movie would've been 4-5 hours if it dragged those moments out.

I'd say Peter took a slight backseat on this one, and really it was for the best. Not to say Chris Pratt had nothing to do - Peter was sipping on Ego's Kool-Aid straight up for over half the movie. That scene where they played catch was endearing and hilarious.

Baby Groot was definitely in your face. But damn it, I don't care. He was adorable.

The soundtrack was damn good, songs really clicked with the movie, especially Father and Son in the end (and that was DAMN good usage of the song). I'm particularly happy to have Mr. Blue Sky in the soundtrack, even better that it was the opening credits music.

Stan Lee cameo was funny, though I don't think a lot of people in the theatre recognized the Watchers. His small line about being a mailman was an interesting nod to Fantastic Four though. Kinda glad he had a bit more to do after his super brief cameo in Doctor Strange.

I basically just typed out everything I can think of. I probably have more to comment on later.

I LOVED this movie, one of the greatest comic book movies ever made. Everything a sequel should do. Take they characters you met in the first one and flesh them all out and expand the relationships. This movie effortlessly movies from hilarious, to emotional, to exciting better than most.

I assume most people will get turned off by the craziness of it all but that's what I loved most. It's the most comic book like movie marvel ever made, completely embraced the craziness of the comics in life action form.

Brilliant movie.

Right there with you. I didn't expect the amount of feels.

Dug it. Thought it was a lot funnier than the first as well in most parts. Ending was good and the only thing I didn't like about the big battle was the superman flying around portion. Also,

The light work on Yondu killing the Ravagers was damn good. Overall, thought it was the best looker of the MCU.

A story about his mom to a story about his father/his humanity could've been pretty dry but I thought they did well enough with it.

Maybe it's because I haven't seen the first GotG in a while, but I thought that GotG 2 was way better. The character and emotional arcs were just so good.

As to film construction, there were some really badly done exposition scenes, particularly the convenient dioramas, but once the twist hit I just couldn't care less about that. That was damn good.

I enjoyed it for the most part. Too many references in the stingers at the end, IMO.

Not a huge fan of the final fight itself, but I liked the interactions between the characters.

Man, I even liked the DBZ style final fight. Which is rare itself. Unlike other MCU films and the first Guardians the villain actually matters, and I felt real stakes not because of the requisite destruction of the galaxy but because overcoming the villain meant something personal to Peter.

How explicit are we talking here?
They're pretty clearly prostitutes, a character is shown implied to have just had sex. And a "thinking with your other head (paraphrased)" kind of joke.

Saw it and loved it, but not quite sure where I'd rate it amongst all the other Marvel flicks.

I need to know who Sylvester, Ving Rhames, Michelle Yeoh, and Miley Cyrus are though. I'm not as up on the Guardians mythology as other Marvel properties.

In the order of the actors you mentioned...
  • Starhawk
  • Charlie-27
  • Aleta
  • Mainframe
They're the original Guardians of the Galaxy. Also, Michael Rosenbaum is Matinex & the red alien is Krugarr.

Teen Groot is best Groot.

Still processing the film, but it felt a little average for me. 7.5/10 at the most. Enjoyable, but it felt like it was missing something.

For Adam Warlock

I went into this expecting to hate it, since my super hero movie apathy is at an all time high.

It blew me away. Every scene was a pleasant surprise, the character building is excellent, the jokes are mostly great, and it gets genuinely emotional at times. I'm impressed.

This film was hilariously amazing.

I was worried that the humor would feel forced, but it was original and my entire theater was rolling at times.

I honestly enjoyed it more than the first.

Okay, I got that squared away. Didn't recall his characters name in the movie. Not familiar with the series at all, just love the movies.

I didn't realize there were five credit scenes at the end either. I left during the first one. Anyone have a link to watch the end credit scenes?

My theater was pissed about the last after credits scene.

Damn, I wonder what ignited the nerd rage.

My theater was pissed about the last after credits scene.

How so? Unless it was just a bunch of angry nerds that we didn't get more Watchers, I can't see how they would be mad.
HE MAY HAVE BEEN YOUR FATHER BUT HE AIN'T YOUR DADDY

Yeah, Gunn gave a great send off to Rooker in this. I particularly liked the shot of young Peter being taught how to shoot by Yondu. They may not have played catch, but that was close enough.

Also, the shot of them slowly revealing all of the Ravager crew that was sent out of the airlock was chilling. I was looking forward to Yondu killing them all for that.

Surpassed my expectations. And its atleast as good as 1, though it feels like a different kind of movie. Really really liked it.

I let out an audible YES when Fleetwood Mac kicked in on that fight towards the end. So fucking good.

While the first film definitely felt like a James Gunn film through and through, Vol. 2 feels like it is Gunn unleashed and with no restrictions.

This is pretty much where I'm at. Dude went straight crazy with it. It's gonna hit folks well or not. I definitely enjoyed it, even if it wasn't better than the first. Was still very different than what we usually get, which is a plus.

I really liked it, much better than the standard Marvel fare.
only bit that fell flat was the PacMan bit, and I was the only one in my theater that laughed at the Zune.

Yeah that pacman scene...yeeesh. No one had the guts to say that's a bad idea?

Pratt was terrible in any scene that required any strong emotional performance.

The movies pacing was really really off, and for a while I had no idea what direction they were heading in lol.

With that said, I thought it was fun. Weaker than the first, but it was enjoyable. The characters we enough to get me through it.

EDIT: As far as the Pacman bit, that made it clear to me that Gunn was in his full don't give a fuck gear.

Weirdly enough, people complain about Marvel movies being too similar to one another but then when you have the movies that are very clearly designed by their director (Iron Man 3, GoTG2), they tend to me more divisive.

At least I think that's sort of become the case.

Saw the movie tonight, it was just a bit better than the first one imo

- These guys continues to be my favorite characters out of all the Marvel films, I love them so much, also you just know Mantis and Drax are provide great material in the future
- Baby Groot was definitely overused in regards to exploiting how cute he was, like the intro sequence that was dragged out way too long for example
- That being said, I'm glad we didn't have to go through Teen Groot lol
- Drax was hilarious as always, though his bluntness about considering Mantis as being ugly felt a little awkward at times, even for him. That being said, he clearly cares for her, and some of his lines about her being ugly were admittedly hilarious, and that quiet moment they had together was beautiful (Even his line about loving an ugly person sort of had a charm to it)
- Yondu, fucking Yondu, they actually got me to care about this dude! His death was so sad, yet so fitting. Loved that he got one big sendoff at the very end, didn't expect that.
- This sequel had a lot of jokes in a way that reminded me of AoU's excessive jokes, only GOTG2's jokes were all actually funny for the most part
- Nebula turned out to be alright, thought it was fucking hilarious that she piloted a spaceship just to try and kill an Gamora, only to somehow fail anyways despite her catching her sister completely off-guard
- The Zune joke had me DECEASED
- Ayesha (golden chick) was gorgeous
- Thought the Pacman scene was great

Ego was overall a good villain, I'd put him in the Top 3 I guess out of all the Marvel films so far, although that's obviously a low bar...

But even so, I liked him a lot. It gradually became obvious he was going to be evil, but the whole thing with him casually revealing that he gave Peter's mom a tumor was some dark shit. And that in turn meshed beautifully with Peter's eyes turning back to normal, quite the scene.

But yea, loved it a lot, I can see why critics said it's just more of the same, but more Guardians just ain't a bad thing. Also they were not kidding about it being a more emotional movie, pulled at the heartstrings quite a bit throughout the film.

EDIT: As far as the Pacman bit, that made it clear to me that Gunn was in his full don't give a fuck gear.

Yeah, the Pac Man gag was maybe a bit too far for me, but also told me that Gunn didn't give a fuck by that point, which made it kind of endearing.

Yup. Iron Man 3 was Shane Black as fuck.
