I mean he's done it before

Can't wait for Gohan to not be a part of the Tournament of Power. I can see it happening. He's hardly even featured in the OP.

All that training to be sidelined.

As a Gohan fan that would hurt.

As someone who loves seeing online Rage about various shows....please let this happen :)

I really appreciate how Tien of all the characters is teaching "normal" humans about ki awareness, control and growth.

I love Tien. This episode was sort of messed up with Roshi quickly knocking him out but I think it's too early to declare Roshi as being stronger than Tien. What's farther more frustrating is Tien is fighting Gohan next week so he is going to have back-to-back losses. Let's just hope he gets some nice hits in on Gohan before decisively losing. Similar to that fight he had with Future Trunks in the Bojack movie.

In the tournament, I'm hoping 17 sort of plays a mother hen role to Tien and Krillin. 17 may not be a traditional human but he is human-ish and can hang with the Saiyans. I'd like to see him look out for the other humans who try hard but just can't make the gains needed to be A-listers in terms of power

Oh boy. That episode was kind of embracing regarding Roshis dirty old geezer antics. I'm not going to lie, as a young kid reading the old Dragon Ball mangas I could really appreciate the more mature humor and whatnot *cough*. But this episode really was just too much. What were they thinking.

Not a bad episode, that girl
wanting revenge on tien
was cute

If they made roshi's perv segment tie in better with him seeing the truth it would have worked well.

Also what if... in the tournament
Goku unlocks ultimate/mystic for himself? luls

Yeah K, except it doesn't change my point.

So he says he doesn't remember Roshi being that physical before.

I use gifs to remind him that he got far more physical before.

How is that a genuine fuck up ? And how would it be mine ?

I wasn't trying to engage in a conversation, just bringing back to memory that scene, and that guy's post was literally right before yours, so it's not like quoting was mandatory since everybody would have seen it before seeing mine and I felt it was more effective without one.

You on the other hand, made terrible assumptions. That's what I would call a fuck up, but alright.

I am not burdened with understanding your true feelings from a gif.

That episode was...
not great.

Oh well, Krillin had the best recruitment episode, and Gohan's training wasn't bad, that's all that really matters.
Next week's could be fun.

Common sense is not randomly dropping 2 gifs of a woman getting groped in a serious conversation about sexism, and then getting shocked when people take you the wrong way.

When somebody literally says "I don't remember him being that physical before" and somebody posts gifs of the character being even more physical, do you have to be an engineer to see the correlation ?

More importantly, you put words into my mouth, you're the one that twisted what I did. Don't spin this around. Especially in a conversation about sexism, you literally went on your little argument even though I hadn't said anything. I called you out for it.

I don't think Gohan could really reach the level of raw power of Blue Kaio Ken. I know with that as the bar, it seems nobody in the crew could really surpass Goku. But, I honestly believe that is the case. Goku always has a trump card, but both Vegeta and Gohan play by raw strength and ki blasts.

How was Roshi introduced people.

He wanted to see a 14 year old girl's panties.

This ain't nothing new, he's always been a perv and pedo. I love the character, but he's always been a creep.

You underestimate their ability to not give a literal shit about power levels since z. He'll surpass him, goku will pull something else out and surpass him again vegeta will follow and job

I think two things bothered people more than usual :

1) Roshi sexually assaulted a weaker woman that had no means of defending herself repeatedly despite her saying she didn't want to (unlike other girls that even if weaker, usually punch him out or use fireguns etc...) vs the usual surprise "cup a feel"

2) Goku gave literally no fuck to the girl's cries for help

Now in the end keep in mind Roshi is called disgusting, perverted, and is kicked in the balls within the episode. So they weren't trying to pin him in a good light, but they sure handled the episode awkwardly. Goku especially.

"It's Japanese culture" is a shitty excuse and I hate reading posts trying to explain Roshi's antics away like that. I've been consuming Japanese media for the better part of my entire life and I can tell you right now that what Roshi is getting away with here is pretty extraordinary even by the low standards exhibited in a lot of stuff they're putting out today.

I mean, it's quite literally sexual assault. I've seen literally zero scenes of sexual assault in the other 6 anime I'm watching this season. Is DBS really so special? Bleh. Even just the implication that regular viewers should be desensitized to this shit is disgusting on a moral level.

My post implied nothing of the sort, you see what you want to see.
What else are we supposed to take away from a post that implies, knowingly or otherwise, that the reaction to Roshi is down to culture shock???

You literally just posted "Culture shock, the episode". Is this some kind of gotcha? What are you getting at here?

Tenshinhan is totally the weak link of the team. It doesn't even look like he's a good teacher. I bet he hit a plateau a long time ago and can't overcome it with whatever his style of training is.

By that logic, they would have made Goten useful by now.

And yet another person who haven't watched Dragon Ball.

At this point, crying about sexual assault in a cartoon it just funny. I expect no less from Neogaf. And moral disgusting huh, oh please tell us more.

Slaythe, maybe you should read posts you respond to better, and I dont mean mine. The poster wrote 'I dont remember him getting that physical before', not 'Roshi never got physical before'. If its agenuine fuck up, its still yours.
Nevermind your post has no quote and is right under mine

I am not burdened with understanding your true feelings from a gif.

The poster said he didn't remember Roshi getting that physical and Slaythe posted the gifs showing that he has. I thought it was straightforward, anyway.

Tein and Gohan should team up to teach people how to use ki. Gohan brings the technical science behind it, and Tein brings that feeling.

Or Gohan could just do it by himself. He did already teach Videl.

Edit: autocorrect made it tein

I think he looked like a good teacher. His students looked eager to learn and disciplined. He maintains a good looking dojo. Has Master Roshi's blessings. I would imagine there's a huge learning curve to using ki or flying unless you're a prodigy fighter like Krillin or Videl.

He took a beating, but he still has a chance to have his moment and school some people in the tournament.

And again, you'd be wrong. First because what has happened in Dragon Ball has not been quite as egregious as what's happening in this episode, second because Dragon Ball was written in the 80s and we've kind of evolved since then, I would hope.

Why are you even here?

Do you even realize what kind of place this is?

I can't even imagine how you've lasted this long as a poster if your reaction to disgust at poor depictions of sexual assault is to go "oh, Neogaf".

Its been a long 40 hours. Going by Frieza time I see

I don't really understand people saying things like this.
We've had 2 and a half hours of episodes and some of that even took place at the same time as other parts of it and most of the stories have been pretty quick and self contained.

Are we gonna sit here and pretend they care about power levels? Is that something really worth debating about.

They do care about power levels to an extend, otherwise they wouldn't bother to make the characters stronger. If they didn't care, as you so implied, they could have just gathered the team and never claim anyone got stronger and go from there.

"has not been quite as egregious as what's happening in this"

Right like the Oolang date rape, Roshi trying to peek at Launch when she's trying to pee, Krillin pulling up Bulma's shirt without her permission so he can nosebleed on the guy. Yeah, nothing egregious at all.

And so what if it was the 80s? Are we really going to pretend that sex humor have mature? The only thing that has changed is that dirty old man humor has been tone down since Roshi in this episode is quite tame compared to Dragon Ball.

Did I personal insult you? No, I insulted your opinion for being funny. That as how I 'lasted so long'. And sorry, I can't take anyone seriously who get trigged over sexual humor in a cartoon made for pre-teen kids in another country like the women in the cartoon are real and being sexual assualted.

There's a difference to people getting stronger/fighting on equal grounds and calling it out and putting a number on it.

Cmon bro do you really need to defend the realistic passage of time in dragon ball super

What? I literally had finished the episode and summarised it as such? Saying culture shock isn't dismissive of any of the issues but rather pointing out that shit is different there. To me the episode really does show the cultural divide. You are all reading way too much into a single line.

I am not completely sure what you're saying. Are you saying that the power jumps are too big, because that's a different discussion.

What I am saying is that them not caring about power scaling is simply false since if they didn't care, we wouldn't be getting any training scenes. Just a jump and we're told everyone got stronger when they're pulling techniques out of their butts and Gohan fighting Hit as an equal. They even cared in the Future Trunks Saga since they gave Trunks a brand new form to make him keep up instead of saying screw it and have Super Saiyan 2 Trunks behead Black.

Thank you Icy-chan.

I shall pray for Vegeta in your behalf.

These prayers would be better placed toward the return of Icarus but I'll take it anyway. Vegeta needs all the grace he can get.

Hopefully he actually does something seriously impressive instead of just taking out enemies that are notably weaker than him.

Videl was considered a Prodigy? TIL
P.S. humans SUCK

How long would that dojo have been open? He opened it after the U6 arc according to Goku, right?

Also, Tien must have felt so cool when Goku flew down in front of all of his students and said "I haven't seen you sent we fought those Universe 6 guys!"

Wait, I don't even remember Tien's presence in that arc...

The problem with saying "Roshi did this in early DB though" is that the series has changed a lot since then. Early DB was still largely a comedic series, so when we are introduced to Roshi, said to be one of the strongest people on Earth, and it turns out he is a lazy perv who the Flying Nimbus wont let him use, it's a funny twist on what we expect.

As the series moved forward, and Roshi takes on a more serious role, becoming someone we want to sympathize with, Toriyama rightfully realized that his antics should be toned down.

But now in Super, we are dealing with the Roshi we are expected to sympathize with taking part in the kind of jokes that were made to make us think less of him, and it just becomes all around uncomfortable.
