Maybe this will just be what actually forces Goku to tell the truth about the tournament to all the participants (
the others wondering why Goku wants to bring Frieza to what's supposedly just a "friendly" tournament
).

If a problem when we have to go to those extremes to tell people the truth.
Goku and Gohan have to realize they'll find out before the tournament whether they tell them or not. That'd be shit writing if the Grand Priest doesn't mention it once before the fight, so everyone knows what they're fighting for.

But how close have the Heroes missions lined up with the TV show.

Based on what I've seen from videos, the general concept is there, but they throw extra stuff to have more matches available, like how in the initial Universe Survival Opening arc, they kept the basic premise of going around Earth to recruit the team, but aside from the recruitment battles (Gohan & Piccolo, 17, Tenshinhan...) they also had some possible matches against the old Universe 6 fighters.

The promotion for the upcoming "Universe Survival Recruitment" arc in Heroes has a picture showing the player's team facing Bojack's men, and I doubt that part will be related to the actual story from the tv show, but
the overall concept of going to hell to recruit someone for the tournament is now confirmed to match an event from the tv show.

"Broly God" (God Ki LSSJ?) from a new 4D experience at Universal Studios Japan.

In other news I want Jiren vs Hit so bad.

also
Golden Frieza vs Frost at the tourny?

I''m fine with anything to get more Christopher Ayres in Dragon Ball. Especially if Zamasu's voice is as lame as in Xenoverse 2, I'll need a palette cleanser.

If the news does pan out, then it means
the team will begrudgingly accept someone who has tried to kill them, sometimes succeeding, multiple times, before they think of adding Yamcha to the team.

Everyone please pray for Yamcha.

They'd be better off going in with 9 people than taking Yamcha! :P

I hope Goku
mentions
Yamcha and Gohan
says he seemed too busy
when he talked to him earlier.

The whole joke with Yamcha doesn't really make much sense (from his point view) since he has been retired for years now. So, why does he expect the others to consider him a valuable ally for the tournament? The other characters not thinking about him make sense. What's odd is his newfound overconfidence.

They should have shown him training harshly for a moment like this, which would make the situation even sadder, but would make sense and would be funny too.

particularly after the baseball episode, where he should have noticed everyone had gone even further away from his level

Now I wish he went into the ROSAT to train.
Then Vegeta comes in to find Yamcha there.

10 warriors are a lot, and Yamcha probably thinks he's above Roshi, and on par with Tien, he also probably knows that Krillin stopped training.

Really from his point of view, Tien is probably the only human he thinks is ahead of him since Tien is always training.

I mean... There is a magazine scan with Yamcha on it. It's wondering who the remaining two members are and shows Ten and Roshi as well /Shrug.

I'll never get used to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber's official Japanese name being the Room of Spirit and Time. I haven't been watching the dub, have they used it yet and what did they call it?

I don't like this apparent confirmation but I can accept it as long as Frieza remains the captain of all evil pricks. Any kind of redemption arc is unacceptable.

They shouldn't mention the ROSAT for a few more months, not until the Champa arc begins and they train in it right before the tournament.

I'm use to it being called the Hyperbolic Time Chamber/ and the Spirit Bomb being the name for the Genki Dama, but honestly I like ROSAT and Genki Dama better.

I use Special Beam Cannon for Piccolo's attack though, because I would butchered the Japanese name everytime.

Kaioken being the name of the Solar Flare, and King Kai Fist being the name for Kaioken gets me everytime.

Frieza is a total fakeout. Buu will be totally fine.

Calling it now.
Most likely. Either that or we're still in denial.
We'll find out in 2 weeks at least.

Whis can magically extract a baby out of a pregnant lady, and reverse time by 3 minutes,
but can't wake someone up.

Putting the spoiler talk aside.

Anyone feels like the so called tag team match will actually be 1 vs 1?

I'm expecting Piccolo and Tenshinhan getting beat in less than 30 seconds.

I think the tag team results in Goku getting beat as SSJ2, which makes him take it seriously and goes Blue, which will eat into the next episode.
I don't think he takes Gohan serious at all, so he starts off as SSJ, then goes SSJ2, getting beat by Gohan, and since Goku has lost to both Buu and Gohan now, due to underestimating them both, he wants a rematch as Blue.

When asking to be drawn like one of your french girls goes wrong.

As much as I would like a full on episode about Gohan vs Goku is not gonna happen.
Just as the screentime of gohan VS piccolo training was really low :/

Considering they've pulled a Bones animator for it, I think it will have more than expected.

There's no way Freeza isn't participating at this point. Considering how often AT used him in gag one shots since Z ended I'm not surprised he keeps bringing him back just like his other favorite Pilaf.

I'm actually really excited at the thought of Freeza being one of the members.
Just because of the interactions with the other team members it'd bring. Freeza mentioning how he killed Krillin in the past in a mocking voice and all.

Cell would still have been better, but I think people will be surprised and like how it turns out as it puts Freeza in quite the unusual situation.

I really do appreciate this Freeza swerve. Despite all the complaining few people actually thought AT would go through with it, and it certainly has got the fandom talking again after a slew of predictable training episodes.

My only complaint is that it just should have been someone like Roshi or Tien, who got kicked off the team instead.

Only semi-redeemable quality this arc can have is if
Vegeta is the one this time to kill Frieza when he inevitably betrays the team

He actually showed up on episode 80 at the bottom of the staff list and seemingly did a single cut.
He tweeted out a piece of genga for it and I think he said something like it being great job training or something like that (I can't find his twitter and I might be remembering wrong!)
I have to wonder if Toei didn't grab him for this episode, but instead somehow managed to grab him as a new regular for the show. We'll definitely have to keep any eye out.

Does
Freeza
really ruin everything you already enjoyed about this arc?
And what if they actually do interesting things with Freeza?

Fair enough.

But that's just because Toriyama forgot. Having him be Ultimate in the movie was a mistake. :D

Still, this was when Gohan had been doing nothing but reading books for a few years, not training with new resolve Gohan as he is now.

Stop raining on the Ultimate revival parade, guys, it's too good. Too damn long overdue.

He was clearly Ultimate in the retellings, so he was using his full power.

Ultimate Gohan being powerful is fine. Ultimate Gohan reaching Goku's level in a night is BS and is almost as bad as how he got his Ultimate form to begin with. By sitting on his butt.
