Is there anyway that Sony doesn't win E3 this year? even if they only show new trailers/gameplay for stuff they already announced (they'll announce something but if) it will still be a pretty amazing conference.

Really hope we see more of Dreams and Days Gone. Looking forward to PD as well, a Gran Turismo E3 trailer is almost always epic.

If there's any year where Sony will have stiff competition, it's going to be this one. They'll need a few strong reveals to have a strong show. From games slated to come out currently, there's still some question marks. Days Gone had a bit of a mixed response last time around, so they'll need something impressive to turn around the conversation. We haven't seen Detroit in a while. Spiderman could steal the show with a good demo. Dreams is still a huge unknown to a lot of people. TLOU 2 and Death Stranding are still multiple years away. I suspect they will lean hard on God of War as their big early 2018 game, again leaving the holiday clear for third parties.

Nintendo is going to come out very strong this year. Based on stuff we already know, we can expect Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade 2. Pokemon Stars will likely be there. Retro's new game could be a big reveal. Smash could be announced as well which is of course always huge, regardless of what incarnation it will be in. We know Nintendo is all in on Switch so the teams are working on a ton of content. It's just a matter of how much is ready to be shown.

Microsoft is a big wild card since Scorpio talk has been so quiet. I'd like to believe they'll come out strong with a lineup to launch the new system, but who knows. I think they'll have a strong E3 as well and they wouldn't be crazy enough to come out of this show looking weak.

It'll be a fun show for sure!

I don't see them not winning , the question is can they top last years.

Just for reference this was their conference last year:

God of War demo with orchestra*****new exclusive game
Days Gone Trailer*****new exclusive game
The Last Guardian Trailer w/release date
Horizon Zero Dawn Demo
Detroit Become Human Demo
Resident Evil 7 Demo/Trailer(Playable Demo out that night)*****new game out January
Section with PSVR/Activision/Indies
Crash Bandicoot N'Sane Trilogy announcment
Death Stranding in engine trailer(Kojima is back)*****new exclusive game
Spiderman Trailer from Insomniac*****new exclusive game
Days Gone Demo to close

This is staggering to say the least.

They basically have five exclusives on the horizon which are locks for E3 (Days Gone, Spiderman, God of War, Gran Turismo Sport, and Detroit)

They've got their imminent summer releases(FF 12, Uncharted TLL, and Crash).

Then they have a potential Red Dead 2/Sucker Punch reveal.

And finally games in the far future like Death Stranding and TLOU 2.

I'd say Playstation has virtually never been stronger, so if Sony can top last years conference I tip my hat to them.

For this year:

Opens with SP's new IP
From- Sony Japan collaboration game.
Demon Soul remaster.
Days Gone demo
Dreams re-reveal
DMC5 or Deep Down :P
PSVR/indies/third party
FFVIIR
Shenmue 3
Spiderman demo
Knack 2
Pixel Opus's new game
PSASBR 2 revival develop by Capcom.
Syphon Filter or Socom fully remaster for PS4. :lol
Another Sony Japan collaboration or internal project.
Closes with GOW gameplay.

This will knock everyone's socks off.

I'm scared that we're going to have half a conference dedicated to Battlefront, CoD, and Destiny. That's wayyy too much.

CoD will have a 5-8 minute campaign segment like last year (this time around they don't have a modern warfare remaster trailer added on at the end). Destiny 2 will likely just have a 2 minute trailer with a beta mention/shadow drop (due to having tons of coverage and footage out from the May 18th event already.) Battlefront 2, will likely have a short hype trailer with a hint at what the VR content will be. I'd say 15 minutes total for all of them combined honestly.

Last year they had cod, battlefront vr, batman vr, Lego Star Wars, so not sure what's there to be afraid of. Destiny has its own gameplay reveal next week and Star Wars stuff will dominate ea conference so we are most likely just getting trailers for all the big third party games with custom bundle announcements so probably 20-25 minutes tops which would still leave over an hour for other stuff. These games push consoles so they have to promote them.

Man Dreams is underrated visually, it looks spectacular and deserves to be mentioned when people talk about the best looking stuff among Horizon, U4, GOW4, Battlefront etc...
We can make our own CG movies and such with Dreams right? If so, day 1 and I'm gonna make so many movies for my daughters <3

I get the fact that 3rd parties are extremely important, but i wish that they really weren't... i wish that all of the big 3 conferences were solely dedicated to first party content, which would make some of the press conferences hillariously short.

I'm cool with them, but in 2-4 min trailer form. I don't want to see CoD developers on stage talking about how much they've changed (but really haven't) the game. Move it along, and showcase stuff that people may not know exists.

You guys need to factor in that they will spend a lot of time on third party this year. That includes Battlefront, CoD, and Destiny. For reference, they spent over 10 minutes on CoD alone last year.

This doesnt even factor in the possibility for other SW games (they showed Lego SW last year), a big Ubisoft game (they are frequent partners), and the slimmer possibility of RDR2.

Edit: looks like I'm too late

Going by previous E3, Assassin creed wont be at Sony conf. Besides, Ubisoft has their own conference, so any new games will be announced there.

Assassin's Creed has been at most Sony's E3 conferences except for Assassin's Creed 3 which Xbox got and last year since there was no game.

This year looking at the third party lineup Sony has the new Assassin's Creed might be with Microsoft again.

Edit: Oops, I meant Unity not AC3

Unity was MS.

Yeah. Sony already has Destiny 2 and RDR 2. I'm sure MS got the deal with Ubi for AC. They had to get something after Sony gobbled up the two big ones. And surely PS4 will get the CoD DLC first again.

That's just purely hope. People want any one of Sony's internal studios to make some sort of space or futuristic game due to their budgets and visual quality.

There was a rumor that said their new game was a sci-fi IP called Sentinel, but that could be a project name and by sci-fi they could mean "Blade Runner" not "Star Trek"/"Mass Effect".

I actually think MS will pick up the Far Cry game this year, if the rumors prove true. I doubt Sony will want to market two Western titles. I could see both sides dropping AC this year, honestly. Syndicate and Unity burned both platform holders.

They can't have a good show just by showing the exact same games from last year

I think Nintendo is gonna go extra hard software-wise to compete from here on.

I disagree, they can have a great show just by showing tons of new content for their amazing upcoming line up, I do agree that it can never be as exciting as new announcements and megatons from the competition and that's why they won't win E3 without new announcements, but it can still be very good and they will most probably reaffirm who got the best line up, new games or not.

I didn't like it as much last year since Ubisoft moved theirs up to EA's old slot. The wait between Ubisoft and Sony last year was painful.

Oh yeah, it was a longer wait than usual last time, right? I wonder if Ubi is going to stay in that slot, probably.

I think the hype building of the threads during those intermission hours mostly kept my mind off the wait with everyone newly theorizing about what would show up lol.

I think it's more about creating level and all kind of different games than CG movies but I'm not sure exactly maybe they have this option as well.

Ubisoft normally has a press conference at 3:00pm pst and goes on for a bit over an hour. Last year they started at 1:00pm and heavily stretched out their conference to two hours.

Okay. That's what I thought, just couldn't remember the detail.
Like I said though it passed pretty quickly with all the chatter, but yeah waiting is the rough part, heh.

BTW it's funny no one take into account that maybe a third party can win E3, we had years where the big 3 messed up and had some very weak shows so the best show came from a third party company, Ubi most of the time, it can happen this year as well if the big 3 will disappoint.

All Sony has to do is show their already announced upcoming line-up. Sure there wouldn't be any surprises, but it would still be incredible and far better than what we've seen in most previous years. The line-up - both first and third party - is nothing short of sublime.

The lack fo leaks is just kinda intriguing for me. Look how many leaks the other companeis got but none from Sony this year while all the new games were leaked last year pre-E3.
This scares me to confirm what I said in the other First Party thread that Sony has no new games to show this year and will only re-show the introduced games.

Not this again. Every fucking year.

There's still more than enough time to leak the Sony goods, alas.

What has leaked about MS and Nintendo's E3? People were scared Sony was gonna have a poor show for both the last two years (especially E3 2015 they were afraid was gonna be swamped by Destiny, CoD and Battlefront yet it ended up being the Year of Dreams lmao). The only difference this year I think is shinobi602 seems to have decided not to leak anything for this year's show. At least not as long before the conference as he usually does. There's no way they have no new games to show, I would say from their first party at the very least Sucker Punch and PixelOpus are almost guaranteed to show up with their new games. And various other new third party games as always.

EA is too bogged by corporate interests to make a good show. They'll plug Soccer stars/coaches and make a huge fuss over Microtransactions and ultimate teams and what not l, so they tend to lose Gamer's attention.

Ubisoft is fun for all the wrong reasons. Watching their conferences is what I imagine being on acid must feel like. Their presentation is too esoteric though and that usually takes off a lot of points.

Bethesda has a shot, though.

What got leaked from the other companies?

Did you really just call Ubi's presentation "esoteric"?

They release some of the best sellers every year, even in this outstanding year with all of the excitement from Horizon, Zelda, Japan is back!! etc the best selling game is Wildlands :/

They are important like it or not, and they had presentations where they won E3 and game of the show stuff like that year when they unveiled Watch Dogs.

Problem is that they lost TONS of credit because of the downgrades fiascos so people are very skeptical and can't get as hyped, but maybe they will manage to redeem themselves this year.

You are right about EA though, 95% of the time they win "worst show" unfortunately, they are horrible.

Bethesda do have a shot, lots of people thought that their first press conference where they unveiled Fallout 4 was the best one of that year, they know how to run a great show.

Sony are usually pretty good at keeping leaks to a minimum, until like right before their conferences. Like we'll sometimes get a name or some concept art, but rarely anything absolutely 100% nailed on happening. Like I can only think of Bloodborne when thinking of massive definitely happening leaks. Horizon and God of War (and Spiderman I guess, though I think everything pointed to it being by Sucker Punch) are the only ones that come close to that and even they were still a surprise when announced.

Edit: and the PS4 Pro, forgot about that someone how, was probably as big as Bloodborne's.

shinobi was the person that primarily leaked what was going to be shown at Sony's major shows last year and he's already posted this about their E3 conference

So, I don't think there's really anything to be concerned about.

I really hope so. Even one or two new games would be enough. And Sucker Punch game is still unannounced so it counts but I really hope they will reveal it at E3 and not wait for the end of the year.

Shinobi is a very positive (and awesome) guy, even if the show will consist of only new gameplay for their already announced games he will say it's gonna be good (and you can't blame him really, the line up is good enough to hold a great show even without any reveal)
