Whyo said Microsoft and Nintendo were only announcing things for this year.
I expect something new from them. Your competition shows up with new hardware and software announcements. You show up with nothing new at all. It reflects poorly and gives merit to questions like "is Sony getting complacent ?" Idk how else to say it.
If you guys are content getting the same thing 2 years in a row then that's cool, but that personally doesn't get me excited for the future. Agree to disagree.
Obviously we're getting new things, from all 3.
But there are 2 facts that are valid for all 3:
1)we mostly know what their internal studios are working on.
We also mostly know what their external privileged partners are likely working on (like Playground Games or Insomniac).
2) This one concerns more Sony and MS than Nin who chose (not without cause) to do an early reset and to abandon their current gen platform early: We are now past the mid gen point, and likely 2 years or less away from the big gen 9 reveal (at least for Sony).
E3 2018 will be all about the few titles to release while overlapping the new reveal/ launch period (Imo TLOU part 2, Death Stranding and Sucker Punch new IP), because E3 2019 will be all about the "PS5".
So this year is kinda the equivalent of 2011 in terms of E3. Except that the equivalent hardware reveal (Vita and PS 3D screen in 2011) was last year, so it's imo all going to be about Software to release between the end of the year, and mid 2019.
It means that whatever it is, it has to be well underway to make it within the next 18 months (save possibly for the three titles above, which have a window of 6 more months imo).
If you don't like this year, next year will be even worse because it'll all be about titles coming within the coming 12 months then, and will be largely (though not exclusively) known.
Doesn't mean we can't have a few surprises though (there will be some), but dev cycles are what they are, and WWS is mid to late gen heavy usually.
