Street Fighter V PC/PS4 CFN Beta Now LIVE!: All Characters, Cross Play (Online Only)

I have been avoiding this game like the plague, I had a nightmare experience with street fighter 4 and I played a handful of matches. Oh no, I love it, I love a fighting game that doesn't have an arcade mode!

That is actually making it into the game in that form? Thought for sure that they would adjust the animation before patching it in.

I knew they wouldn't. That air throw, design wise, doesn't lend itself to being easy to animate. Since air throws can start at almost any height and Cammy's air throw spins her and her opponent horizontally, it has to unnaturally pause in mid-air for them to drop down. Otherwise if they fell "naturally" they would side switch depending on the height or land when their feet or head are directly facing the camera.

Zangief's air SPD works kind of similarly but 1) they're bunched up tight so it just looks like a twirling mass of muscle 2) Zangief magically shoots upwards so they always fall the same distance and land in the same position.

They could, obviously, made this air throw look way less stiff but they could have got away with the same amount of effort if they planned better.
 
Yep. Ive lost to many a character doing that herky jerky shit. I just don't get that kind of movement in other games with rollback netcode. Not sure why its so bad in this case, bad routing? That's just straight up embarrassing.

This is definitely a big problem in this game. Almost impossible to react when that shit starts.

I see no improved load times, not finding matches any faster, five bars that are a teleport fest, two bars when I filtered 5...

Is there any change besides being able to play Ed?

The characters look so much better/cleaner now. I love this change!!

They can definitely go back and fix or update the 30fps characters in some of the older stages since none of the new stages have that issue. They're obviously open to doing updates on stages since they added lots of interactivity on guile classic stage that it didn't have.

Ranked and Casual Match Loading Times

We understand many players were not happy with the load times when entering online matches. There will now be a shorter transition when going into a Ranked or Casual Match.

Battle Lounge Country Flags

Country flags should now properly load in Battle Lounges, allowing players to locate competition in their region.

Training Mode – User Settings Saved

Training Mode settings are now saved and will carry over to the next time the mode is accessed.

"Since the PC beta will only feature online modes, Training Mode will not be testable at this time. Sorry for the confusion."

Matchmaking Improvements

It should now take less time to find an opponent in online matches. We've also added logic which avoids frequently being matched with the same opponent repeatedly.

Fighter Profile Stats

More detailed stats will be tracked and presented on your Fighter Profile.

Country / League Based Rankings

Players will now be able to filter leaderboards based on Country or League.

Friend Management System

In addition to adding a player to your Favorites, you can now add Friends and follow them on CFN. You can now also Blacklist players.

Interactive Timeline

On the CFN home menu, a live feed of your Friends' activities is presented on an interactive Timeline. Using the Timeline, you can immediately add a recent match to your Replay List, view a Fighter Profile, manage your Friends, and adjust Timeline display settings.

In-Game Announcer Voice

The in-game announcer will give you stats on both you and your opponent using data pulled from the server.

Well, they reduced the input delay and you get to try out the new balances. There's also some ragequit adjustments like blacklisting and such.

So far the online connections been surprisingly smooth and a tad bit quicker.

Thanks. Load times and connections don't seem improved here. Hope they find some useful info through the beta. But it feels the same to me.
 
I dig Ed. Didn't think I would from pictures, but he looks cool in game, and his moveset/input method is really fun.

This game is dope. I was hooked on it in 2016, and forgot how much I like it... why I bought it once physical, then digital for convenience.
 
My god, Dhalsim's new low is amazing. Having a proper low (that's cancelable into Flame) is what he needed.

I guess Ed is pretty cool too. I really would have wished him to be a hybrid charge/motion character, though.
 
I still need to check Bustling Side Street to be certain, but shadow dithering looks to be gone for me, too.

I was wondering last night if the game got some visaul upgrades or if it was just new stages I haven't played before. Some stuff looked cleaner. Couldn't spot any dithering but I only played Ed vs. Ed the entire time.
