Nintendo E3 plans detailed

A lot of embarrassing posts in this thread, bloody hell.

I don't understand the treehouse hate, you get to properly see in depth what upcoming games are all about. Do people seriously prefer a 60 second CGI trailer?
As for no conference, I can do without it, the MS and EA presentations in particular are complete cringefests, with all their fake whopping and hollering at every unimportant detail.
The Direct style presentations can show the same type of info, announcements etc. but in a format that is less bullshit and more flexible.
This idea that no live conference means "not being at E3" is ridiculous.

I also, don't expect many new announcements for 2017 as the schedule is already filling up but hope for at least one surprise.
I can't wait to see more of SMO and XB2.

This. I will never understand how gamers who, you know, play games actually dislike stuff like Directs and Treehouse Live. Like, shouldn't we spend more time actually watching gameplay than getting CG trailers at a convention dedicated solely to games?

And as for Directs (or other Digital Events) versus press conferences or presentations, I'll always prefer the short and sweet Directs that waste no time and give the information I want in a, idk, stylish manner, I guess is how I'd describe it? What I mean is, Directs present information in a, well, direct way and (sometimes) cool way. Not saying live events are not cool, but they're generally way slower and skim around details sometimes.

I do expect a few surprises, but as it is, I'm satisfied with the Switch line-up for the rest of the year so what I'm really waiting for is another January presentation where they detail their 2018 line-up, although I'm sure we'll at least hear about Jan.-March of 2018 at E3.

I totally agree with you!!

Best thing of Treehouse and Directs, is that you don't have to see a random person playing a game you don't care at all because you have to if you want to see the next announcement; during the Direct, you just see one announcement after another. And if you are interested and have curiousity about a game, you can watch the Treehouse of that game when you want to, and when you need to.

Treehouse broadcasts are awesome!!

I'll admit I wasn't always a huge fan of Treehouse Live, the first time I sat down to actually watch it live was last year with BotW. That experience is the one that kinda showed to me the brilliance of the whole idea. It pairs well with their E3 Directs, like you said.

Isn't that what makes E3 so much fun? :P

I've never found it fun, but I've also never liked the GAF posts and YT comments and videos making fun of people for being excited about games. I forgot which Sony event it was, but that thread was terrible. There's also tons of people who still make fun of Sonic fans getting excited for Sonic games at Sonic events, which makes me feel sick when I come across it.

I was thinking about mario galaxy last night and how
Much i loved that they added, well meaningful lore with the rosalina stuff. Id like to see more world building like this, look i understand mario doesnt need to have a dee rich history in terms of its plot, but id like more things to hint at the history of marios world, i like to think of it being like adventure times first few season where it wasnt really flat out said there was a big war that basically reset the world but you see remneants of it throughout. Mario certainly doesnt need to be that dark but i do hope that odyssey builds on that glimmer of ambition present in galaxy

whatever Takashi Tokita is making for the switch,Platinum Games upcoming projects and MH5

I always forget about Platinum? Bayo 3 anyone?

Skryim for me, and I'm also definitely curious about Mario x Rabbids. However more than that I'd probably say Beyond Good and Evil 2, which might show up this year.

Also whatever Platinum is working on, and I'm hoping against hope that there will be some Fromsoft game (exclusive or Dark Souls port) announced.

Again, I forgot about BG&E2. Though, I'm reluctant if it will be at Nintendos Spotlight or Ubisofts Conference (are they still having one??). From Soft needs to show some games for the Switch.

From these, Mario Rabbids tactics

But in Capcom we trust.

Capcom gonna give us a new Mega Man game!

Skyrim is absolutely my jam. Playing it on the go was the major WOW moment of the reveal trailer and sold the concept fully to me. Hope it is a good version, though portability will make it the best version regardless for me.

Skyrim on the going to be great. It was one of my favorite games from last gen.

Nobody thinks Square shows any games? Maybe Project Ocotpath Traveler?

I'm hoping for Virtual Console. I dream of playing many great games that were on Nintendo's previous consoles, including some old classics that were on the 3DS such as the Sonic games and the 2 N64 Zelda remakes.

I don't see BG&E2 being on Switch. Unless it was like a port of a PS360 build they had nearly finished or a Ubi art framework game, don't see Ubi taking up those resources to make it for Switch.
We'll see.
(Also not sure MegaMan will be on Switch until Capcom changes their Switch approach)

LKD reported that she heard the Rabbids info (which is now almost as good as confirmed) form the same person who said BGE2 would be a timed Switch exclusive:

Obviously it's still just a rumor, but there's definitely some weight to it.

I 100% believe in Rabbids, but I don't see her BG&E info being correct based on the fact Ancel announced it on his instagram (assuming Nintendo paid for exclusivity you'd think they wouldn't want him to do that) as well as some of the comments on its scope and ambition
I'll take that L or whatever, but I'd rather people not get their hopes up here

Definitely fair, I was just citing that tweet if you hadn't seen it yet. I personally think it's real but it may not even show up at this E3 if it's far enough off.

Anyone have any good guesses on third party collaborations we might hear about? We've heard of the Metroid rumor and that may be possible, anything else?

As much as I liked the announcement after announcement approach during the last ND, I'm hoping they go with a sketch this time around. I know we can't replace Iwata and his love of fun, but I'm hoping for something more than last year's bland E3 direct.

What is this rumor? I haven't been so plugged into Nintendo news as of late.

No, really they don't.

Should I be looking forward to playing Last of Us 2 and God of War this holiday season?

Death Stranding is a 2020 game at the earliest and FF XV and KH 3 were shown at Sony's 2013 e3 conference with FF XV releasing Fall 2016 and KH3 still in development.

I'm not going to even get started on Microsoft (Crackdown 3 was first revealed at e3 2014 for example)

So what the hell are you talking about?

What is this rumor? I haven't been so plugged into Nintendo news as of late.

Haven't heard it either. You'd think a rumor like that would be front page.

A lot of insiders have said they've heard a UK studio is working on a Metroid game, possibly assisting on it rather than fully developing it. Climax Studios has been named several times. Some say it's likely a smaller project, like a 2D Metroid, and some reports say it's a 3DS game or 3DS/Switch rather than just Switch.

I hope they do not focus on games that are releasing 3+ years out. I honestly don't care for those. I like the new focus on what is coming out in the next 12 to 18 months.

What is this rumor? I haven't been so plugged into Nintendo news as of late.

Apparently there is suppose to be a new Metroid in development(obvious) but the rumor is mixed. Some say it's a 2D or 3D the title, its developed by Climax or an unnamed studio. Can't really tell but take it with salt.

I hope during the ARMS tournament, the winner has to face Reggie, like the Smash Invitational. Only instead of playing the game (ARMS), Reggie uses his actual arms to beat the stuffing out of his opponent.

I would pay to see that shit. Sit in the splash zone. REGGIE RUMBLE.

Yeah, I've seen it. Would be cool if it was real, but I feel a lot of Nintendo fans are going to get super burned if it ends up being false (and if it's false I imagine it won't land on Switch at all)

As for 3rd party collaborations, I'd personally like to see Nintendo+Platinum Games again. Star Fox Zero (which I liked, tbf) didn't feel like a proper collaboration but a quick, low budget title. Miyamoto was teasing some Sheik spin off which would probably be perfect for them. I'd like to see Nintendo throw a proper budget their way. When given the time, money, and license required Platinum can come up with some pretty fantastic stuff like MGSR and Nier Automata which both seemingly sold pretty well.

If Jason Derulo doesn't perform at Nintendo's E3 event I'm going to sell my fucking Switch.

I always wondered if Nintendo would do something for OoT's 20th anniversary, considering how much of a landmark title it was. Either as a remake, or some spin-off. A Sheik spin-off would be pretty awesome.

My idea would be a Sheik game taking place during OoT but from Zelda's perspective. Showing the time where they flee from the castle to the end of the game. There can even be a more exciting start where you play as Impa showing what you'll be able to do as Zelda in the future.
Could tie in with Oot's anniversary taking advantage of OoT nostalgia with a cool setting for an character action/action RPG game. They can even make an ending for the fallen hero timeline which doesn't make sense currently.
Not sure if they'd make yet another remake since the 3DS one isn't that old.

Anybody think we could see a new sports game from Nintendo?

-Mario Strikers
-Mario Golf (yes!)
-WaveRace
-1080 Snowboarding
-Mario Baseball

I don't think we will. I know NST helped with Snipperclips, but come on Nintendo let them make Wave Race again.

I prefer a short but informative trailer showing me gameplay, yes.

I hate let's play formats, and I simply don't have the time to (not do I want to) watch an hours long stream of people playing videogames. The treehouse stuff where they have casually dropped announcements outside the direct/conference does annoy me a bit, because I'd rather have heard about it during the hour or so I out aside for them to have my attention instead of finding out from a GAF thread title.

Oh no.

Yeah, I imagine if that gets out Metroid fans will overreact
again
before even seeing it.

I'm ready to see what those eyes are on Marios hat.

Maybe it's a rabbit. This game is going to be so amazing. In the trailer Mario looked to he fighting that mechanical centipede thing on the tower in New Donk City. I want to see how much "story" is in the game.

Guessing we will see an Mario & Sonic olympics game revealed.

Tbh, next Metroid is going to come from somewhere strange most likely anyway. EPD is probably not going to do it. Retro is (again) supposedly on a new IP. So...it'll be from somewhere unexpected and there'll be consternation about that and then we'll either get a bad or a good Metroid.

Climax Studios denied the rumour. What insiders have been reporting it anyway?

Fake edit: SMD is the origin? Hmm...

Actual edit: I'm skimming through the other thread to see the other posts in question but I dunno... There's a lot of mixed info and potential confusion going on that even the reporters are acknowledging. I'm not putting toooo much stock into it at the moment.

Metroid by Brownie Brown

I think it will be fine if they were developing a 2D one. 3D on the other hand....

I don't even know about that. Looking at climaxes past games, they don't even seem to be able to produce good original titles reliably, with some real stinkers. The only real positive for them I can see is they apparently did Silent Hill Shattered Memories, and even then...

They seem to have done some vita and ps4 ports of other peoples games, but that doesn't sound good to me for metroid either.

Would be hilarious and depressing if Nintendo have a mediocre sounding studio like them the job of doing a metroid 2 port only to have AM2R come out last year and almost certainly be a better labour of love than what a third party would be capable of putting out.

Edit: oh, it's only a supermetaldave rumour, worthless then, phew.

Yeah that's the thing about. I don't doubt there is a Metroid project in development it's just that no one has a right idea of what it is, similiar to Retro's project.

Man looking back at all the moments of Iwata revealing the DS, Wii, 3DS, and etc is making me sad.

Seeing him being genuinely happy talking about games is something we will never see. :(

Of course they denied it, you don't confirm that you're working on a Nintendo property.

Of course they denied it, you don't confirm that you're working on a Nintendo property.

It's more the exasperated tone of it. Between that and another one of their replies, they just come off like, "fucking really, guys?" But like I said, there's just so much conflicting info swirling around, it was even mentioned that it's not known whether Climax would be the main studio or providing assistance. Compared to something like Mario + Rabbids which had much greater clarity in the reports mentioning it, there just seems less solid to latch onto too heavily here.

I don't know how this will play into E3, if it has any bearings on a Switch version, or if this is old news but DeNA is saying that Animal Crossing mobile will release this fiscal year: http://www.japanesenintendo.com/post/160587059704

It's very possible we can get Animal Crossing announced at E3. We haven't had a mainline title in a very long time. The Splatoon guys could've been working on one the whole time while making Splatoon/2.

We have so many insiders saying Climax is working or assisting on a new Metroid game. Even if they're only assisting they could look at a denial as them saying they're not the ones fully developing it or they're just straight up lying. If they lie it won't come back and bite them in the butt. People will be happy if they come up with a great 2D Metroid.

In a just world, Retro would do a 2D Metroid with all the lessons they learned from Tropical Freeze.
