A lot of embarrassing posts in this thread, bloody hell.
I don't understand the treehouse hate, you get to properly see in depth what upcoming games are all about. Do people seriously prefer a 60 second CGI trailer?
As for no conference, I can do without it, the MS and EA presentations in particular are complete cringefests, with all their fake whopping and hollering at every unimportant detail.
The Direct style presentations can show the same type of info, announcements etc. but in a format that is less bullshit and more flexible.
This idea that no live conference means "not being at E3" is ridiculous.
I also, don't expect many new announcements for 2017 as the schedule is already filling up but hope for at least one surprise.
I can't wait to see more of SMO and XB2.
This. I will never understand how gamers who, you know, play games actually dislike stuff like Directs and Treehouse Live. Like, shouldn't we spend more time actually watching gameplay than getting CG trailers at a convention dedicated solely to games?
And as for Directs (or other Digital Events) versus press conferences or presentations, I'll always prefer the short and sweet Directs that waste no time and give the information I want in a, idk, stylish manner, I guess is how I'd describe it? What I mean is, Directs present information in a, well, direct way and (sometimes) cool way. Not saying live events are not cool, but they're generally way slower and skim around details sometimes.
I do expect a few surprises, but as it is, I'm satisfied with the Switch line-up for the rest of the year so what I'm really waiting for is another January presentation where they detail their 2018 line-up, although I'm sure we'll at least hear about Jan.-March of 2018 at E3.
I totally agree with you!!
Best thing of Treehouse and Directs, is that you don't have to see a random person playing a game you don't care at all because you have to if you want to see the next announcement; during the Direct, you just see one announcement after another. And if you are interested and have curiousity about a game, you can watch the Treehouse of that game when you want to, and when you need to.
Treehouse broadcasts are awesome!!
I'll admit I wasn't always a huge fan of Treehouse Live, the first time I sat down to actually watch it live was last year with BotW. That experience is the one that kinda showed to me the brilliance of the whole idea. It pairs well with their E3 Directs, like you said.
Isn't that what makes E3 so much fun?![]()
I've never found it fun, but I've also never liked the GAF posts and YT comments and videos making fun of people for being excited about games. I forgot which Sony event it was, but that thread was terrible. There's also tons of people who still make fun of Sonic fans getting excited for Sonic games at Sonic events, which makes me feel sick when I come across it.
