Street Fighter V PC/PS4 CFN Beta Now LIVE!: All Characters, Cross Play (Online Only)

It's your connection i played 6433 matches and I would say less than 200 of those had lag in them, heck I've been playing against people on the other side of the world with very minimum lag.

I have 300 MB down/100 MB up. My friend has a similar speed in Canada. We have no issues in USFIV. No, I really don't think it's my connection.

I have 160Mb/60Mb and I live in Canada northern Ontario, and i had no issues at all so far with this game, or even USF4 when i used to play it i don't know what's wrong on your end but me and many other can confirm SFV netcode is actually decent and it works way better than USF4 netcode when it comes to playing people who are far away (Europe/Asia).

First time I've ever played SFV on my PC and it went well. A couple lag matches but those with folks in the US so I'm not surprised.

Ed was fun.

That's why, when I made my initial post, I very specifically mentioned how the netcode is failing me. Because guess what, the guy I played over 500 hours of SFIV with? I can't play SFV with him without it turning into a teleport fest every other round.

So, it's great that the game works great for you. But have you considered that maybe the netcode/servers are problematic precisely due to that inconsistency? That you have no issue but I do despite high speeds, a wired connection etc?

I haven't seen a single other person make this statement. Maybe you are very lucky or just not sensitive to lag?

SFV netcode can be pretty good at times but is very inconsistent.

I wonder if it's time to give this another chance. Wouldn't be surprised if I run into the same shitty online issues that I've encountered in the past.

Got bodied mostly when paired against Diamond rank players haha but man I've missed this. Taking a dinner break and will be on all night playing this baby.
Also please fix the weird netcode/lag issues. Maybe the people I've been getting paired up with are on shit connection but even 5 bars is all over the place at times. Thanks!

But where and when? I've never heard anything.

She speaks during the character VS. screen, where it shows both characters before a ranked match loads up.
She's hard to hear, but I think she mentioned:
Winning x amount of ranked matches.
Playing as x a certain amount of times.
That I'd move to the next rank if I win the match.

Yes...

Our connections that allow us to play USFIV (PS4) flawlessly but not SFV (PS4). They are the problem.

Or maybe, just maybe... the netcode designed by one dude at Capcom is just not that good.

I have the same issue you do. I dare somebody to blame my 1gbps up/down fiber connection with 0% packet loss on wired with low (10 to 20ms) ping. Have yet to get one single good game no matter how many times I try on both PC and PS4. It's just this game for some reason.

Man, I wish they can eventually fix this game online. This beta is doing absolutely nothing for me. Still the same connection problems, still the same time searching for an opponent, the same load times.

Now, Ed is a pretty fresh character. I'm digging him a lot.

For all the "my connection in SF4 was perfect, but I'm having trouble with SF5" folks.

Bad connections in SF4 were harder to detect than in SF5, because SF4 was input delay, while SF5 is rollback.

In SF4 lots of matches "looked" perfect. They were NOT perfect. Not perfect at all.

I gained 1,000 LP playing the beta for an hour being a scumbag with my Laura against everybody trying to figure out Ed. Good times. Look forward to more scumbaggery tonight.

Ed, the season 2.5 changes and everything else in the beta will be added to the main game in the form of a patch that will hit sometime in the future. My guess would be mid June.

And if you own the season pass then yes, you get access to Ed when he gets added to the main game.

Thanks - I knew we get him, but was hoping we wouldn't have to wait for the patch. :-(

You know that LP gained or lost during the beta will not carry over to the actual game, right? I feel like there are people playing Ranked with their mains who don't understand that.

To make sure I don't get lumped into this group, I'm comparing it to KI, Skullgirls, 3s Online, MvC Collection, Darkstalkers Collection, and Fightcade. Anything I've played that used rollback basically.

I am very open to suggestions, btw.

Well aware. The points are just a measure of how much of a scumbag I was being.

All of you complaining about the netcode... You're nuts. Been playing for the last hour and i've gotten matches consistently, with the last match I had feeling just like the dude was sitting next to me.

Meh, last night was so-so for me. My experience against 4-5 bars in the real game has been just dandy, but last night in the beta I ran into some of the worst connections ever, at the same bars.

I think most of the bad ones I ran into were fresh (0 exp/LP/etc) players also on PC. Possibly trying the game for free and overtaxing their hardware, I dunno.

EDIT: Seeing how there's no benchmark mode nor a single player mode where people can measure performance, it's plausible I suppose.

can you limit who you get matched with in the beta. cross-play was always a lag fest whenever i played against pc players from ps4. not sure if they were trying to lag out the games intentionally or what as it would always happen when i was winning :P

Yes, on the same menu you configure your ranked/casual settings there's an option for platforms.

Yea, I'm not the best of players (I'd say slightly above beginner level). Both me and my buddy had full bars in SFIV and I could never really tell it was lagging or there was an issue with netcode.

But in SFV, I might not be a good player but teleports are easy to spot. Maybe the netcode is better than SFIV as whole but it hasn't been my experience at all.

Lag is definitely more visible in SFV than SFIV, but is designed to be more consistent on a gameplay level not an aesthetic one. Yeah it sucks when the guy seems to teleport out of the wake-up super that you have him in, but he never actually got hit by the super in the first place. In SFIV, trying to consistently hit 1 frame link combos on a laggy connection was basically impossible.

are u guys doing crossplay ? My issues have been only with PS4 users (have the PC client for the beta) anything else I search 5 bars and have no issues at all, compared to a lot of teleports in regular version for no reason

Alot of the players last night were new and probably used wifi. It's been really good for me tbh. Even played a brazillian with no lag (USA here)

Oh yeah I'm sure it's the same if not better, just reinforcing others' claims of subpar experiences at the start.

So since the new characters seem to be from story mode so far, any hope for Azam being one of the remaining 3?

Technically yes but not likely. We've gone over the DLC silhouettes several times with Ryce making larger composite silhouettes and good guesses. Azam doesn't fit any of the silhouettes and the last three are likely to be Abigail from Final Fight, a female Indonesian fighter and Garuda from Street Fighter EX (which wasn't made by Capcom nor are the EX games canon so Garuda would be *new* in core Street Fighter).

I had more issues with SF4 than SFV but overall my experience with both of them is very positive.

Just because it is working for you doesn't mean it is working for everyone?

Aside from five star teleport fest, how can you explain getting two stars when you filter 4/5. I'll tell you how: No packet loss checks.

IMO people forget that even with the best netcode int he world, you're still occasionally going to run into people with shitty inconsistent internet connections.
