Honestly, it probably sounds weird, but I'm actually really excited to see Hit get the team together.

I've enjoyed this buildup to the tournament, but I wish we saw more of the other universes. Like in today's episode, the only reason the new team all had hoods on was to keep the mystery going as to what they're like. There's no logical or upfront reason for them to be like that. I'm not terribly annoyed with the mystery, but if it's gonna be a mystery, they should do it better.

Kagari... whew

We did it.

We back.

Same... I am hoping that Frost somehow find a new form

This is flawless development for Gohan. Doesn't get much better. That was the perfect way to do this. Anything is possible now with the tournament with what he just demonstrated.

There's room for a trigger of some type to elevate him to a whole other level.

I never stopped believing in Gohan.

NEVER

WE NEED GIFS ARCHEDTHUNDER ALL THE GIFS

Plus I need stills of close up badass Gohan shots

More like they all had hoods on because neither Toriyama nor Toei wanted to come up with unique designs for 9 other characters who are more than likely going to be stomped. The lead guy's name is apparently a pun on how hopeless a team they are.

It could've been explained that his body was already there and it was just a matter of tapping into the well but they didn't do that at all.

Nevermind. Power justified.

His body only recently got back to the way it was. In RoF it was lanky, so he goes to train with Big Green. Homeboy sees that he's back physically, but not mentally, limiting his power. That's what the last eps was about.

Also, anyone got that NEP?

I never weighed in on 17's power level but yes, both 17 and Gohan's current power level relative to Goku is complete bullshit and there's no way in hell anyone could catch a guy that literally obsesses over fighting and training and does virtually nothing else. Not to mention that he and Vegeta both trained under Whis ffs.

BUT who cares? What's happening now is a godsend. I don't know how many of you followed Naruto but part one was so good because it had a large cast of relevant characters that each had great fights of their own and used unique abilities and strategies. Then comes along Shippuden which throws all of that in the trash and suddenly there are only two remotely relevant characters in all of Shippuden (protagonist side), Naruto and Sasuke. Dragon Ball was treading down this road with Goku and Vegeta with the only thing to look forward to being the two of them catching up to the god and angel levels until it was revealed there were strong fighters from other universes. In any case, the absolute best thing that can happen for the show is to make the larger z fighter cast relevant again. If I have to endure a nonsense episode or a handful pulling out a bs power level, I'll happily do so if it means the show will be the better for it going forward! Think of how much better this show will be with at least a handful of competent fighters instead of just Goku and Vegeta!

Besides, Toriyama ruined Gohan years ago and the hope for him to get back into fighting and become strong again was achieving Shemnue 3 levels of broken hope level. On top of the fact that DB isn't a deep series to begin with and is a show about screaming until your hair changes color. We watch for nostalgia and fun and this should make the show more fun and entertaining! Not to mention it's great motivation for Goku and Vegeta to find a way to become even stronger. So, cheers to 17 and Gohan being beasts!

My problem with the recent development.

It makes Goku and Vegeta look like complete fools, and it also renders nonsensical Beerus and Whis' interest in them.

Those assholes spent about 4 years training as hard as possible and Gohan, on his own, no magic trick, catches up in like 5 hours by meditating.

That's... just. Whatever.

That being said, I'm really happy to see Gohan "back", and especially as the leader. Just wish they had handled it a bit better.

Beerus and Whis didn't know about Gohan's potential though. They barely even knew anything about Goku at first.

It's like Frieza being so awfully scared of the legendary Super Saiyan warrior that appears once in a thousand years... and then a few years after Namek it turns out everyone and their sons can transform into Super Saiyans.

I'm glad I backed Krillin instead of Tien a while back, my boy Krillin's been here since Roshi was making people do milk runs.

That shouldn't be considered that risky of a bet. Krillin, Piccolo, and Bulma are the main characters of the series right after the saiyans.

He's gonna need a few dozen battles against poachers if he wants to get back in this.

Unless he has a super human biology, an infinite core, and 13 years ahead of him, I'm not sure that's going to help him much.

Now, training on a rock for 5 hours, that seems like the most efficient way to multiply your level by about 47 billions.

So BTW, the OP put an emphasis on :

Goku

Vegeta

Gohan

Krilin

17

Roshi

Characters that got nothing

Tien

Piccolo

Buu

18

18 is probably safer than the others because she's with 17 and Krilin.

I'm pretty sure the OP gave away who are going to matter.

Krillin back to being a scrappy sly fox is still pretty awesome. A lot to love so far.

This was actually my favorite line from that episode. It's easy to forget, but the cast in the original DB got into fighting because they genuinely enjoyed it.

He needs to reach enlightenment.
The kind that comes from having sex after 40 years of chastity.

At least we know by the end of Z Gohan was way stronger than Goku. It was Goku the one playing catch up to Gohan's upper potential. The writers of Super just pulled 17 powering up that much out of their ass.

They did the same thing with Tien, despite Tien never feeling like really won the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament since Goku only lost because a trunk hit him. This is part of my problem with TFS rewriting the characters to make them 'funnier' when it really comes off as weird at times. Especially Goku not knowing where his techniques came from despite him always crediting his teachers and friends. And if they they were going there, they could at least mentioned the Monkey Fist, the technique that put a hole in King Piccolo's stomach. They could have gone to so many better places with that stolen technique joke without rewriting Goku's character.

I mentioned this before, but Roshi's "Can never read that guy" about Tien from an earlier episode has to be the worst offender with this.

Tien became a good guy because Roshi was the only one who could read him, even including himself! It's the foundation of their relationship in the source material, lol.

Really? I don't remember that being the case, was the final match between Goku and Uub? I need to re watch that tournament at the end. In any case, if Toriyama didn't screw Gohan over after the Cell saga he could have remained the strongest forevermore. That's what I was hoping for back then, I wanted Gohan to take the mantle (which he did against Cell) and hold on to it. Then his character was ruined and my hopes turned to Goten. It was a rough life for fans ready for Goku's sons to overtake him.
