Nintendo E3 plans detailed

My predications for the E3 Spotlight

- Spotlight opens with Super Smash Bros Deluxe coming October alongside the new paid for online (which won't get detailed yet)
- Splatoon 2 single player details, new multiplayer mode shown along with a new beta test coming end of June
- FE: Warriors gameplay, dated for September release
- Xenoblade trailer, coming December
- Indie titles showcase, couple new announcements including Owlboy
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC announced, first pack coming end of 2017
- Pikmin 4 announced with trailer, coming 2017 but no exact date given
- Donkey Kong Country Returns 3 from Retro announced, Kremlins return coming early 2018
- Super Mario Maker Deluxe announced, coming in early 2018
- New 2D Metroid announced, coming early 2018
- Super Mario Odyssey blowout, coming late November 2017
- One more thing....Retro is working on a second title.....Eternal Darkness, no date given

I think the new virtual console stuff will be revealled when they detail the new online service via a Direct sometime at the end of summer

If they made a Metroid game, it'd be Metroid Maker.

I wish for New Super Mario Bros. All-Stars. All 4 games, remade in NSMBU's engine, remastered soundtrack, all the possible bonus content within (including New Super Luigi U). Not for this year though, as this holiday is dedicated for Super Mario Odyssey, but maybe Spring 2018 release? I know this isn't a popular wish, but I would buy the hell out of this collection.

Edit: Forgot to add Splatoon 2.

Seems like too many ports for an E3 presentation. I'd rather Nintendo unveil brand new games at E3 rather than just more Wii U ports. If ports are going to be announced, they'll likely be low-key stealth announcements. And call me crazy, but I don't think Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will even get DLC. The game already has more than enough content as is, and is a port of a game with a lot of DLC already. Plus, I'd imagine the team has already moved on to other projects (like ARMS for example).

Edit: Forgot to add Splatoon 2.

I'd like to point out that EAD no longer exists. They merged with SPD 2 years ago to form EPD.

I don't think Pikmin 4 is coming in 2017 and I'm kinda 50/50 on whether they'll actually show it... They do have the 3DS game to push (LOL at Miyamoto saying the game was pretty much done two years ago). You can be sure their will be a new Arms trailer as well, probably outlining new charcaters/modes, etc.

Yeah, very confusing. I don't think he should've teased it like that.

For all we know it could be done and just sitting on a shelf for the past year or so, waiting to fill a release slot. We know Mario Odyssey is basically done too, and I would guess MK8D was done for a while before it was released.

Who knows what else they're just sitting on?

Monolith is very good at what they do but they're super busy. Not sure why anyone would expect a Metroid from them anyways.

Idk. Space? There also seems to be some desire for an open world Metroid on the internet, not that I share it.

Expect? I think it is want turned into hope/expectation more than much reason to think Monolith in particular would have Metroid.

I'm expecting absolutely nothing. Maybe a small Nintendo reveal, on par with that Toad game on Wii U. Just lots of detail about upcoming games, maybe the odd Japanese dev in there. Absolutely zero western third party.

Would love to see a new Nintendo IP and some solid third party multiplayer stuff like Rocket League and FIFA make its way across, but I've lived through too many Nintendo E3s to know better.

Fifa, NBA 2k, and Skyrim have already been announced. It will be interesting to see the quality of the Switch ports. I also hope that get additional third party support from the west.

I only want Smash and/or Metroid but have a feeling neither will be announced. It seems like Nintendo is more interested in pushing Splatoon and Arms as their eports games and will wait for next year to release a smash 4 port. As for Metroid... with Federation Force bombing they may be reluctant to invest time and money in a new Metroid. Even though it clearly bombed because it was junk no Metroid fan wanted, Nintendo may be too dumb to realize that.

I'm surprised by the lack of crazy rumors in the pipeline. Only thing we've seen is that composer, an avowed fan of Metroid, working with Retro Studios, but that could mean anything.

In fact I don't think we've had any crazy rumors or leaks for Sony and Microsoft as well. Which is good since last year we had some major ones especially Microsoft's conference format being leaked.

I'd like to keep it that way to be honest. If not for the inevitable "we know about this!" if, say, a new Metroid leaked beforehand and was announced.

So Odyssey is basically finished, Xenoblade is Monolith, Pokemon is TPC... what is the BOTW team making next? Another giant Zelda game or something smaller?

Splatoon 2, story mode.
ARMS, launch trailer, new character
Zelda DLC 2, trailer

Mario Oddysey, trailer, gameplay demo and date

Indies

MarioxRabbids, trailer, gameplay and date
Pikmin 4, reveal trailer 2017
Smash Deluxe, 3DS+WiiU, October
Xenoblade 2, trailer 2018

Skyrim, FIFA and 2K

Metroid Prime 4 by Retro, no date.

What I hope is that Tropical Freeze taught people to keep their expectations reasonable.

They're likely working on the second BotW DLC right now then after that it'll be on to the next Zelda.

It will be interesting to see what the BotW team does. Ostensibly, part of it is responsible for the DLC, but even so that begs the question: Does the rest of the team do something entirely new or build on the BotW engine, which is amazing?

Really this is what I expect from the event...

-Release dates for Mario, FE Warriors and Xenoblade 2 if it's a 2017 title really.

-Reveal of the Rabbits game and other 2017 titles.

-Third-party ports

-2 surprises(Retro and Metroid)

Do we think there's much chance of the Switch Fire Emblem being shown?
Wouldn't say much, but you shouldn't rule an FE Switch trailer out imo. Since we know little about it (not even a name) atm, it's reasonable to think it's planned for late 2018, and therefore may not appear during E3, but they could reveal it at this E3 and release it early in 2018 as well. Who knows, basically.

Smash Bros Melee HD or w/e is never ever going to happen. The people who "Want" it would never actually play it either because they would inevitably "ruin" it by having no gamecube controls, or the fact that it is all wireless now and not on CRTs, or by going back into the code they will have "Fixed" some of the glitches that basically make it play how it's currently played.

I roll my eyes so hard every time someone suggests Nintendo will announce it.

They'll especially never announce it when they're trying to promote a new Smash for Switch.

Do we think there's much chance of the Switch Fire Emblem being shown?

I think there's a decent chance. It's the only 2018 game we currently know about and Nintendo seems to like releasing FE games in the first half of the year. So if it releases before E3 next year it'd make sense to at least have a trailer here.

Do we think there's much chance of the Switch Fire Emblem being shown?

I don't think there's much of a chance. I'm thinking that first footage for this game will happen late this year or in the first half of 2018 (depending on when it launches in 2018 in Japan). That said, you never know! Perhaps they could give a first tease of the game after doing a blowout on Fire Emblem Warriors during the Treehouse Live stream.

I think Mario Kart DLC is more possible now given the sales it's got so far. Get part of the team working on new DLC whilst the rest of the team can get to work on something else.

With the Zelda team, I really hope they take a break from Zelda after the DLC is done and work on something new using the BotW engine.

I would love to see Fire Emblem given a break and a new Advance Wars head to Switch

I still want Ninty to go all in on GC, Wii, Wii U and 3DS remasters over the Switch lifespan to fill in any gaps in releases.

This is probably the most excited I've been for Nintendo in a long time, I adored the GameCube and the quality of releases they had on the system. I would love them to get some exclusive 3rd party titles like a return of Viewtiful Joe for Switch

I tried to break this down to make it simpler by the likelihood something is talked about at the Nintendo Spotlight. I'll keep it to Switch games only.

100% going to be at Nintendo Spotlight (using what we've seen)
-Super Mario Odyssey
-ARMS (I don't expect this to get much time tbh)
-Splatoon 2 ( don't expect this to get much time either)
-Xenoblade Chronicles 2
-Skyrim
-Fire Emblem Warriors
-Other third party games

Very very very likely!
-Mario + Rabbids RPG
-Retros game
-Metroid
-Pokemon Stars
-Indies

Very likely, BUT doesn't need E3 (can be announced at a Nintendo Direct)
-Smash port (Nintendo may be afraid it overshadows ARMS)
-VC (this could be E3 or any Nintendo Direct in the fall)
-Mother 3 (this comes with VC)
-Fire Emblem for Switch (depends on when it's supposed to release + FE Warriors will be in the Spotlight already)
-Pikmin 4 (this comes down to when its releasing. If this year then it will be at E3)
-Switch online (again this can be saved for a future Nintendo Direct, but the beta could be talked about since it will probably coincide with Splatoon 2's launch)

Possibly at E3
-COD WWII (don't be surprised considering COD on Wii U was announced later)
-FFVIIR (I believe this will be at Nintendo Spotlight)
-BG&2 (heard lots of rumors about this coming to Switch)
-Platinum Games (lots of possibilities)
-Animal Crossing (well...there is an Animal Crossing game coming to mobile...)

I think that covers most of it. Some of these can be interchangeable because not all of these are real (as of now) and if they are the dates of release can be in different places. This doesn't take into account any new IP Nintendo could announce.

So Odyssey is basically finished, Xenoblade is Monolith, Pokemon is TPC... what is the BOTW team making next? Another giant Zelda game or something smaller?

Probably both, they always seem to have several projects in the pipeline at once. One of the most interesting things about the Switch is seeing how only having one main platform will impact software development for Nintendo's "big" teams that usually work on multiple projects of various scales in conjunction.

There are western games inofficial and official in development for Switch, releasing partly this year and have yet to be seen.

No press conference is cool but I think Tree House Live should be in front of a studio audience like a TV show. I don't know why but sounds like fun.

So Odyssey is basically finished, Xenoblade is Monolith, Pokemon is TPC... what is the BOTW team making next? Another giant Zelda game or something smaller?

Isnt the Zelda team big enough for 2 projects? I'm assuming the BoTW team is entirely busy with the season pass roadmap, whereas the other part of the studio is working on a top down Zelda. Maybe one that combines Between Worlds and Triforce Heroes? A coop Zelda would work well with the Switch.

Splatoon 2, story mode.
ARMS, launch trailer, new character
Zelda DLC 2, trailer

Mario Oddysey, trailer, gameplay demo and date

Pikmin 4, reveal trailer 2017
Smash Deluxe, 3DS+WiiU, October
Xenoblade 2, trailer 2018

Skyrim, FIFA and 2K

Metroid Prime 4 by Retro, no date.

What they really need to do is a DQXI blowout, Switch and western release date announcement. One DQ avatar to another :P.
