The thing I don't understand is why the fuck would any republican want to protect Trump when they could potentially have Pence or Ryan taking over? Both of them would more or less further their shitty agenda, but at least they're not completely incompetent and can conduct themselves like adults. At least they wouldn't be blurting out classified information to our enemies. I get that impeachment would look really bad for republicans, but so does keeping Trump around.

I don't really care all that much if Trump "gets away with it" or not, as long as the media remains negative on him and his and the GOP's numbers keep tanking and the GOP is unable to pass any legislation due to the constant crisises. I hold no real hope that he gets impeached, but really, I don't particularly mind either way. I'm getting what I want out of this, and that's enough for me.

Unfortunately for the Republicans, it goes a lot further than just Trump. Pence and Ryan are tied into this, along with possibly a few members of Congress.

Two possible reasons:
1. They're afraid Trump supporters will try to replace them in the primaries. Nothing scares a Congressman like the thought of not being re-elected.
2. They're complicit, so protecting Trump is protecting themselves.

No Obama is not Eddard. Obama actually won elections twice but is not as good a POTUS as he is a campaigner, hence Robert.
Hillary is definitely eddard with her campaign wasting too much time trying to win over republicans.

Investigations don't happen in hours. They take months. Every little thing just adds to the pile that will come out at the end.
And the pile just doubled its weight in a couple of days.
