Yeah IIRC Miyamoto's quote was not that Retro could work on two project simultaneously, but he was hoping that theoretically it was something that could happen... or something. And I think a guy from Retro even addressed that, saying that they can find the time to fit in development assistance with Mario Kart 7 between DKCR and Tropical Freeze, but there's a difference between that, and doing Donkey Kong while developing MK7 from the ground-up by themselves.
Yes, that was Michael Kelbaugh, president of Retro Studios. When Tropical Freeze was announced and everyone thought they were surely developing Metroid Prime 4 in conjunction, he stated that Retro can do a big project and a small project at once, but not two big projects together.
Yeah, that's what I was mis-remembering, thanks for the clarification.
I really wonder what they're doing with Metroid - they surely got the message that people don't want something like Federation Force, between all the negative reception and poor sales. At least from my own research, people seem to want a Switch Metroid Prime-Style game that follows Samus and is set in the existing universe.
Ah well, Reggie did bother to give Metroid fans hope for a "true installment" announcement within the next 7 months, so maybe we're about to hear something good, I don't know anymore with Nintendo.
