Can someone help me out on this again? So is Super Saiyan Rage like a Super Saiyan 2 that is as strong as a Super Saiyan 3?

There's no official explanation regarding what exactly is Rage, aside from being another anger powered transformation. Even the name was only given by DB Heroes. However, it's actually around the level of Super Saiyan Blue (and allowed Trunks to sense god ki after unlocking it). It's much stronger than SSJ3.

Vegeta doesn't think he could pull it off at all. It's not a trivial thing.

I just looked at the chapter, Vegeta didn't say that. Vegeta only says that Goku's body is in danger of breaking, not that he couldn't pull it off. So it's like the Kaioken from the Saiyan Saga, not the Champa Saga where just activating it is dangerous.

To be honest, I am taking a shot at Android 17 but, at least the anime/manga stated he had potential for unlimited power or something to that effect.

Also everyone and their mom was an appropriate response. We have seen the form used quite a bit (even against 18 and Kullilin) when it probably should not have been. Also the fact that he had to use it against that Wolf universe(10 I think) is kind of dumb. Like, wouldn't that in effect destroy him if he truly had that much power? It just doesn't add up and all i'm saying is the manga does a far superior job in over-explaining power levels. It's pretty much a fact imo.

Also it IS about merchandising. Correct me if I am wrong but the RoF outfit was in the RoF movie? I don't understand the point you're trying to make. Those outfits appeared in the movie first and are a reference. However I will concede SSR Vegeta, not in the anime(you got me there).

Also find me a anime that isn't trying to sell you something.

Krillin and 18 are not on Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan's level. If you paid attention to the episode, it was explained why Goku went to his god form. And again, did you pay any attention tp Episode 81? He used Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan with the Kaioken not because he had to. He did it because he was told not to hold back. He was beating Bergamo with a basic Super Saiyan until he went Blue. It was also a basic Kaioken not x10. Honestly, reading your response, I am beginning question if you read the subs.

No, it isn't about merchandising. The manga had Goku used Super Saiyan God in his Resurrection 'F'. In the movie and in Super, he never used Super Saiyan God in that outfit, but he did in the manga when he fought Hit in the Champa Saga. Also, Super Saiyan God, not SSR Vegeta.

Find me any show that isn't trying to sell something.

The angel girl is all happy and dancing. She wont be dying anyway so why should she care her daddy/uncle grand priest will just make her a new universe to oversee.
I found it interesting the U9 angel was getting mad. Then again, whether his universe gets erased or not, I'm sure he doesn't want the embarrassment of getting taken out first because they couldn't get enough members.

Bet its the embarrassment. It nice that they have different personalities. Whis and Vados seem detached like they care but not that much.

Uncle vegeta has a nice ring to it, also Trunks remains goat >.>

Continues watching OG Buu saga in JP.

Maybe he actually cares more than the rest about the people in his universe surviving. Which would be hilariously ironic since he's stuck with the worst GoD and Supreme Kai.

Huh, I could actually see that. Would be a pretty hilarious contrast. The Angel who cares the most has the worst tool-set, lol.

Any sort of ETA on how many more episodes till the tournament starts?

We should hopefully get a good idea in 2 weeks, which is when I believe we should know the titles and summaries of 94-97.

Right now it's looking like 95 or 96 should be the start of the tournament. Though personally I hope it's 96, and in either 94 or 95 we get a 5V5 sparring match with U7.

Either way, story wise we have 4 hours left, we have to be getting close. Unless something out of the blue happens, like them delaying the tournament because everyone can't get 10 fighters in time, and not having a full set of fighters would be boring to Zeno.

This thing needs to start.

I feel like it's been a bit too long.
As long as we don't get another waste of an episode, like the Tien and Roshi episode/ space poacher episode, we should be fine. Then again, depending on how they handle everyone hating Goku/ leaving the team, that could be a waste of an episode, since it's not really relevant to the ToP.

I don't think Super can take another one of those episodes and if there is one between now and the tournament, there'll be a lot of anger. At least right now, every episode seems integral to the plot, and not dedicated to throwing nods of DB or DBZ, with a tiny side of relevancy to the plot.

87 could have been cut, Ten's episode should have given us a reason why he deserves to be on the team, this whole Buu subplot could be cut... etc. They also could have started splicing in the other universe stuff a lot earlier.

That Tien/Roshi episode may not be a waste after all considering Roshi's development

Not really. For that episode to be relevant, Roshi would have to be getting over his pervert nature because of what he did during that episode. That's not why he's doing this, he's doing it because it's been a problem for years.

At no point did he mention episode 87, or allude to that being the reason why. The episode could have been cut and we would still agree this is a problem Roshi has.

I see it as bringing the problem of it actually being able to hinder him in a battle to his attention, otherwise he probably wouldn't have thought about it.

I don't think it was complete fluff in retrospect like I did when I first saw the episode.

Buu's subplot can't be cut because it isn't filler. Unless your mean that brief sparring match with Goku which foreshadowed him falling asleep.

The only two episodes that really could have been cut is the second 17 episode Tien/Roshi's episode (although Roshi's weakness to women is being highlighted so it wasn't a complete waste), and cut down on the Gohan episode.

The whole Future Trunks/Black arc could have been cut as well!
/s

For what it's worth, it is a pretty self-contained arc. The only thing that really changed the plot going forward was the two Zeno's. I guess it could depend on if F!Trunks shows up again too.

That and we know that Zen'o wiping the multiverse isn't a bluff of "wank". There is also Goku's friendship with Zen'o and the button, both introduced in the Future Trunks Saga.

Roshi won't overcome his problem, he'll make a mistake against one of the U2 magical girls. It's not development, it's a reminder.

He likes pretty girls. Ribrianne wouldn't do it for him.

I thought the alien poacher ep was a fun watch at least. Tein/Roshi was very not that.
But they needed a recruitment episode for them, it just should have been way better

The second 17 episode was unneeded and the Tien/Roshi one was too long. The other recruitments were fine in my opinion. I still maintain that Gohan's stuff should have been shortened.

I loved it. Great humor. Fun interaction and important bonding between Goku and 17. What would we have had instead if we didn't get that episode? An episode featuring Vegeta? Gohan and "Best Dad" hanging out? Goten/Trunks stuff? I don't know why that episode is viewed so unfavorably. Before that episode, we had only had two moments of canon 17 material since he was absorbed by Cell (the Majin Buu cameo and his return episode). What was the harm in giving him two episodes?

Yeah, while I enjoyed the latest episode, it was also the first time where I thought they needed to get going. Sounds like we still have a couple of weeks left now that the Buu thing is going on.

I think the pacing's been fine. For the most part, nothing's really felt useless even if some time could be shaved off.

omg I think practically all of it's felt useless.
Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, and Buu were all a given before the recruitment started. Krillin and 18 only needed one scene, Tien, Roshi, and 17 could have each gotten one episode. this entire "recruitment arc" should have been 5 episodes, not 20.

I think it would have been better to do that right after exhibition match :

83 : Bra is born, set up team

84 : Krilin episode, have Gohan get the ritual from elder kai

85 : 17 episode

86 : Tien roshi episode

87 : Ellipse, show Gohan joined Piccolo after the ritual, then have Gohan vs Goku

88 : Other universes part 1

89 : Other universes part 2

90 : Frieza

91 : Tournament starts

I think that would have been better.

Yamcha to the rescue!
Part of me hopes/feels they wouldn't keep this "lol you are being left out, Yamcha!" gag running without some sort of pleasant payoff for Yamcha. I'm hoping he helps out in a very vital way. What if when Yamcha realizes he is seriously being left out and Roshi and Tien got in over him and that sparks a drive in him to do something serious? Like go on a journey to find out how to get considerably stronger. I'm not saying SSJ strong, but what if a flip is switched and we see Yamcha go through growth from this? I think that would be very interesting and a great side story to have going on in Super. Yamcha might even learn some things that the other earthlings could apply in their training

Only if he gets to beat Beerus in a duel to usurp him.

why is yamacha living like a bum. his living quarters look all rundown and shit compared to everyone else. you'd think he'd get hookups being friends with bulma and all.
