Some brief information, since it's just a "rumor" from a supposed notorious and accurate "leaker".
--Ancient Aztec/Mayan/tribal aesthetic.
--Emphasis on hand-to-hand combat techniques and "martial art styles".
--Traditional melee weapons still in (i.e. clubs), but they won't have a major focus; weapon-based movesets are gone.
--Instead, players will customize and personalize their hand-to-hand movesets and fighting styles, there is customization for weapon fighting styles as well, however. (This kinda-sorta sounds like Nioh to me, with the weapon skill trees and such, just my personal opinion).
--Is the "Souls-like, dark fantasy, familiar" game Miyazaki mentioned when interviewed about the future of From Software. Armored Core and a "strange for From Software" game were the other 2 mentioned.
--Collaboration between Sony Japan and From Software (it's the Sony exclusive title).
Take with a pinch of salt, since, I mean...people on the internet like to make shit up (especially with E3 being so close).

it originated in 4chan afaik..

Sounds like Absolver and not a FROM game.

Wait has a new rumor surfaced or something? I was sleeping but I'm reading some interesting things here.

This:
Monster Hunter 5 launching on The PlayStation.

Digital only. Obviously.

Very, very late 2018 and that's with some luck.

No OLED, sorry. Storage more important than display.
Negative. If you own a PS4 game digitally, you will already own for The PlayStation. No native PSOne/2/3 support. PS Now is possible but that will be rebranded or quietly put to bed. No Pro-level features. It's a portable Slim.

It's internal name is Walkman.
They'll sooner bury or delay the the whole thing if they can't get it under $399 but matching Switch price is the aggressive goal. Enticing already-owning PS4 owners with their entire digital library is their bank shot. They also know by "very, very" late 2018 (or later) they can make PS+ back into the PS3 era value proposition, which is big for people just buying into the ecosystem.

It's called The PlayStation because that's how the platform intends to evolve. Much akin to the iPad.

By the way, that internal name is used by SNE in both Nippon and the US.

Discovery is a hell of a thing.

Damn, even the fake leaks have been dialed back. Where is the hype people? Where are the off-screen images of title screens for Jak IV and Bloodborne II?

Who's making games for the thing they're just now building in house vr studios to support that. It's bs
Yep, that was my biggest reason for it not happening too. Nothing in house to support it and third parties are just going to give it the Vita treatment.

Maybe something like a PS4/PS5 thing could work where it is solely to have those type of games on the go but I don't even if the technology is there to pull something like that off. It just wouldn't be worth it to me.

I'm pretty happy the leaks have been dry this year. But if you're gonna "leak" something you gotta do better then The Playstation bs. I'm more disappointed in the lack of trying than the actual information.

I'm kind of concerned that it's due to a good chunk of Sony's lineup this year being known quantities

God of War
Last of Us 2
Uncharted Lost Legacy
Days Gone
Knack 2
Spider-Man
Death Stranding
Destiny 2
Call of Duty WWII
Whatever other third parties they've got
PSVR talk

It'd be hard to say anyone of those isn't a lock for the conference, and when you allot a couple minutes to each, and factor in the usual corporate speak or any other sales stuff coming from Layden, that's a big chunk of the press conference right there.

The only "leak" from that junior I really hope is true is the death of PS Now. What a waste of an endeavour.
It isn't a waste. It is a play for the future and when latency isn't an issue it will be a huge deal. Yea it sucks for now but they are adding more and more titles every month and soon it may not be as bad to try out a few games. Pc gamers can play some ps exclusives once that don't rely on latency without having to buy the hardware and soon they plan to add PS4 titles as well.

By Phantom Pain I assume you mean Death Stranding..but yeah I agree with you. Throw in SP's new IP reveal and there's your conference. Then again, that's still a pretty damn good conference.

What is stopping Sony from making a PlayStation PC client?

I wouldn't know how it would be structured/priced but there's a massive untapped PC market. Isn't the vast majority of PlayStation's profits made from the PSN/games sold? not hardware.

The profits are made from royalties, hardware and the like, not first party titles which a PS PC client would be serving.

Layden was very brief last year and there hasn't been sales talk in years.

Where are the ticket reservations??????

lol "Whatever other third parties"

That could be 5-6 games right there, don't see how this is a bad conference.

Yeah I know it's been short but I could have sworn there was some. Regardless, Sony is in that weird stretch where they announced a lot of stuff ahead of time, and it's about time to check back in on all of it and that just seems like there's not much more room to me. Don't get me wrong, I hope I'm wrong, but I just get the feeling that between Scorpio and everyone going ape shit over Mario Odyssey, Sony could have a strong E3 but it'll be a lot of "Well we knew about that already"

I was speaking in terms of new stuff from Sony that we weren't aware of.

It's been said countless times but Sony is in a position where they could show only previously announced games and still have a good show. But also remember, even some of their weakest E3s had exciting announcements like Bloodborne in 2014 and Sly Cooper in 2011.

It'll be alright!

I don't see why they can't do both (cover what has been announced and still have new stuff). The new stuff would come from third parties to go along with Sucker Punch's new game.

Rewatched their 2014 and 2015 conferences. The jump between the two is crazy:

2014:
Bloodborne
LBP3
Dead Island 2
Abzu
Let it Die
GTAV
UC4 trailer

2015:
TLG
Horizon
Hitman
Dreams
FFVIIR
Shenmue III
UC4 gameplay demo

Went from a 6/10 to a 9.5/10 in one year.

2014 missing Entwined and Ratchet & Clank

I dunno, I'll just never understand the "new games or bust" hype that goes on here. We haven't seen or heard anything about God of War, Spider-Man, Days Gone, Detroit, etc since last E3 but it's apparently a bummer if they take up a significant portion of E3 detailing those games and showing off gameplay? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I wouldn't really mind if nothing new was announced (assuming we get heavy details for what we already know) but it should be rather obvious new stuff will be announced. When has there been a Sony conference where nothing new was announced? The "no leaks=nothing new" is lame.

I think a couple big third parties will get revealed at Sony's conference. At the very least, I think Rocksteady's next game will hit.
Makes sense since Arkham Knight showed up at their E3 2014 and 2015 conference, and then Arkham VR at E3 2016. If Rocksteady's new game is ready to be unveiled, it'll be at Sony's conference.

Besides the expected games... ( GoW, Day's Gone, Dreams, D2, SpiderMan, CoD )

I really want SuckerPunch's and FROMs new IP.... Also Deep Down re-reveal

I agree. Announcements can bring serious hype but a strong gameplay showing can be just as big. To date one of my absolute favorite E3 moments was the debut of The Last of Us gameplay at E3 2012. Simply jaw-dropping.

Just wait, a day or two before the conference we'll get so many leaks and rumors that we won't be able to tell what's real and what's fake.

The whole point of PS Now was to reach an audience without having to buy a dedicated box. Instead they're cutting support down to just 2 platforms later this year without laying out any future plans for expansion to other platforms like android/ios. I won't be surprised if the service dies next year.

The Aztecs were known for their domain of Kung-Fu.
Also, The Playstation sounds like a totally legit name.

Man, the rumours are so boring and dumb this year.

Trademark registrations too. Gonna get crazy.
