Oracle was awesome! Barb wasn't right for Batgirl though.
Cassandra Cain is the daughter of David Cain and Lady Shiva. She has a really great backstory being as she's the daughter of two assassins.

Great to see so many positive reviews. Based on what I've read, the glass half-empty part of my brain is a bit worried by all the flaws mentioned in most of the articles (especially the weak third act, that always bothers me in superhero films) but still, I'm glad the movie is getting a good reception.
Also, there's no best Batgirl since there's only one. Her name is Cass.

Gal Gadot body shaming was always gross though
and the rumor threads (anonymous letter from fired WB employee on this Chinese website called it a mess!!! Discuss.) were horrendous

I wish we had a hyper stylized Batwoman movie. Something with some very distinct cinematography. And a script that does Kate story as a Jewish vet, woman and lesbian with the seriousness it deserves.

I think it was more than reasonable to expect this to be bad. The only thing that was and is disgusting was the body shaming of Gal gadot which made no sense at all.
So glad (gladot) this is doing that well. And before I get called out, I'm not running away from this:

I admit that I held some deep doubts about Wonder Woman's success before even BvS came out, entirely based in my negativity toward Man of Steel and feeling cynically like WB would do nothing but double down on their hardline-dour take on DC superheroism with their new DCEU.
Part of that doubt was carried by the Gal Gadot casting. I liked her in Fast & Furious and didn't really harbor ill will toward her, but I had a notion of Wonder Woman being like 6 feet tall and muscular, and I felt that it was key to the character that I begrudged against the Gadot casting early on, even before seeing BvS. Nothing's ever really going to forgive that, but I will state for the record that I regret it.
Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman ended up being the only consistently well-handled thing about BvS in my eyes, but I couldn't shake the feeling that WB was going to somehow mess the solo movie up.
I have had my ticket for about 3 weeks now, and the trailers have had me more optimistic than anything, and I'm glad to see these reviews pushing my lingering doubts aside. Going in full pumped for this movie now!

Didn't Nicolas Winding Refn want to do a superhero movie with Christina Hendricks? Not sure if he was serious but I remember him talking about WW and Batgirl. He'd be perfect for a moody, atmospheric and hyper stylized Batwoman movie. Definitely never going to happen though.

This movie is following three bad movies. Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman, and Suicide Squad are all bad. Batman vs Superman is an embarrassment of a film.
This movie being good, really good, is surprising.
