Wonder Woman (DCCU) Review Thread (RT 93%)

Nope. Sorry. I dont waste money on movies I have a definitiv feeling for that I am not going to like it even before.
I have not even seen Alien Covenant and dont even plan on buying the Blu-Ray and Alien is one of my most favorite move franchises ever. And if a Xenomorph isnt a guarantee to lure me into the cinema anymore, Batman is also not.

If Batman hanged with Spider-Man you would.

You lose all of your post because someone linked to an old thread where I read a post of you that said "Gal Gadot is a total miscast".

:P

This is true, I was really, really, really skeptical about Gadot and was absoloutely convinced she was miscast in the role. I am truly astonished given that Gal Gadot seems to have pulled this off, given how turned off I was by her performance in Batman V Superman. But going by the reviews, she seems to have done a great job.

But you're right. Those who had faith in Gal Gadot and this movie from the very start are the true heroes. Enjoy this day, my friends. Frankly I'm just glad that now we not only have our Wonder Woman movie, but that it also seems to a genuinely good film to boot.

Now let's get Ayer off of Sirens and get a woman director on that film.

Nah, I say let Ayer have that trashy movie premise.

I'd ask Patty if she's at all interested in Green Lantern - they need good directors handling their big movies. If all else fails then Wonder Woman 2.

That trashy premise is gonna make a lot of money. People want to see Poison Ivy, Catwoman, and Harley do their thing.

What about the premise is "trashy"?

And what about Patty would be a good fit for GL or that she would be interested in it?

Yeah, and I'm sure Ayer can handle it. "Make Harvey's shorts shorter", those kinds of choices.

Let someone like Patty, who seems to understand the appeal of superheroes, translate that onto the big screen. No restriction to female heroes because she's a woman, just keep her on board in whatever way possible. If she wants Man of Steel 2, or Shazam, then let her go for it.

I don't know if she'll be a good fit for GL. There was no reason for me to think she'd be a good fit for Wonder Woman. I'm just saying that she should be given options.

So this is the one DCEU movie to rule all over the MCU? Has any other Marvel movie come closer to this RT?
Not to be a dick but the early RTs for decent and good movies are always high before more reviews then they drop, i'm betting it will still be in the range of the good Comic movies so 70-80s

Oh my goooooood!

Warner Brothers, get this woman. We Need To Talk About Kevin is like one of my absolute favourite films of all time. It's sublimely put together and Lynne is a fantastic director.

Oh god, Lynne Ramsay directing an Ed Brubaker inspired Catwoman noir.

Be still my heart.

It's doubtful to fall that much at this point. It's at 96% with 45 or so reviews. It's likely going to end up in the 89% - 94% range.

Gotham City Sirens is a fine premise even though I'd rather have a Birds of Prey movie. But that'll probably happen sooner or later.

But yeah, get Ayer away from it. Not because SS was terrible (it was, but it's not entirely his fault) but because he fundamentally misunderstands everything about the character he was handed.

Lynn Ramsay for Sirens, Gareth Evans for Birds of Prey. You're welcome Geoff Johns, I just made you a billionaire.

It doesn't have to be Patty.

Whose to say either director truly knows about these characters?

There's still a bit of variance at play. Civil War had 100 reviews before a rotten, and ended up at 90 %.

Jurassic world cratered to about 50ish early, before later reviews put it up to 70-something.

We can always hope though!

He honestly imo deosnt have the sensibilities and tone i would like for a BoP and Sirens, it fits SS even if that movie sucked, though some of it could be studios shit

I mean, every choice of director is always a gamble. We already know that Ayer is not a good fit for the DCEU and the two I mentioned are just immensely talented. Doesn't mean they couldn't fail, but I'd like to see WB give them a shot.

I'm in the unique position of not caring what the rest of the DCEU does.

I got what I wanted, a well recieved Wonder Woman movie. I wanted it just to serve as an example that the character is viable. Now it's proven that it is. I don't even need Wonder Woman 2, as long as got this one movie.

Which isn't to say I'm hoping for the rest of them to be bad, of course. Good luck. But as of now, I'm completely free of investment of the DCEU, which is completely refreshing.

Personally wanted a modern WW but fine with this and happy, more exposure

And so, at last, after three duds in a row, the DC Extended Universe finally has a good movie under its name. Never thought I'd see the day.

I'm honestly not even expecting this movie to be perfect. I'm probably going to find problems with it because I'm Veelk. And I myself would like a more mythology based movie than a war movie. But the thing about Wonder Woman is that she was carrying more on her back than just her own movie, but the responsibility of breaking the DCEU curse as well as being the first good major female superhero on film.

This film needed to be decent more than any other superhero film in memory. Maybe since Avengers. So if it succeeded, I'm satisfied with it just on those terms alone.

She already said she's been out of the game for 100 years.

100 years ago can be roughly also. "I walked away 87 years ago" doesnt sound great.

And this is what Jenkins said.

When quizzed by Uproxx over the setting of the next film possibly moving ahead to the 1930s, Jenkins answered in the affirmative.

"I'm definitely planning something more interesting using that period of time," she said. "Definitely, it's the plan. I can't say what it is! But it's definitely right in the pocket of what you're talking about."

I am not even sure if I am going to see Sonys Spidey-Sidecharacter Universe Movies. Even when these ones turn out good.

That's the spirit!

They will almost certainly be awful.

Lynn Ramsay isn't getting let anywhere near a studio film any time soon. Especially not a franchise one.
