Nintendo E3 plans detailed

SSB games always had photo mode, right?

The image seems to be based on the Melee version:
hqdefaultw1uky.jpg

I don't remember being able to get rid of the photo/pause menu HUD though. And have that on top of this new target mode HUD? Is this image from the same source as the others?

I'm definitely starting to lean heavily towards fake.

I gotta agree with the other skeptics who say that the character models look really funky. I would expect even Switch undocked to look like the Wii U. And it is unlikely magazine screenshots would be of an undocked Switch. Wouldn't you want the game to look as good as possible?

And previously, Sakurai and team didn't make concessions to the character models when optimizing the game. Other details were sacrificed, but character models were given the majority of the resources. It seems unlikely to me that so much else would be spruced up and character models would look so poor.

If it's real, it's real. But I would be disappointed.

What's the pixel dimensions of the original images?

The Paper Mario level seems to be 1000x563? If so, it matches the Switch image ratio in both docked 1080p and undocked 720p modes, and it could explain some contour interpolation artifacts during downsampling?

What screen dimensions can Citra produce for Smash/3DS?

So the thing I find most suspicious is that the characters blend into the background art in those screens.

If you look at how Smash Bros games are made, the backgrounds are somewhat more faded to help the characters stand out and be instantly readable.

Its probably fake but damn these are good fakes

I didn't even realize until it was pointed out, but the OP claims the screens are from a Japanese magazine.

So why does the hud say Bowser Jr. and not Koopa Jr.?

Okay so:

Gonna be there:

Splatoon 2
Fire Emblem Warriors
Xenoblade 2
Mario Odyssey
MarioXRabbids SRPG
ARMS

Those are their games for the rest of 2017.

And now rumored:

Smash 4 Switch
Pikmin 4 (been in development for a while)
Retro Studios new game (been in development for 3.5 years already!)
Pokemon Stars
Outsourced 2D Metroid for 3DS and maybe Switch
Zelda major story or dungeon or shrine content?
Animal Crossing

Which of the rumored games will be shown do you think?

Retro doesn't have any excuse to not be there. Intillgent Systems has been embarrassing them with releasing high quality games at a consistent rate.

Zelda has a good chance...

Animal Crossing also has a good chance but who knows...

Smash is almost guaranteed...

Pokemon Stars might happen and Pikmin 4 might not happen either.

One thing that's interesting with Nintendo is that they want to do one semi big release per month for Switch.

So I'm not sure if they would show more than five 2018 games for Switch since then they could just wait until next e3 to show the rest of their 2018 games.

So something like Animal Crossing which could be nearly done but not released for a while...

If I were to make some bets, I'd go with most of that list honestly. Smash 4 Switch seems like a great year 1 title. Retro's new game has been in development for so long that I think we "need" to see it soon. Pokemon Stars is a game that Eurogamer is very confident in. Animal Crossing has that mobile game that keeps getting delayed.

I think we'll get Pikmin 4 and 2D Metroid before too long, but I'm betting those are 2018 games along with Animal Crossing. Of those three, I'd think AC is the only one worth teasing this early.

Oh man, Smash 4 Deluxe with all the 3DS content and the DLC is enough for me, if only because the 3DS game had better stages overall, so bring it on!

Yup those games lacked charm, creativity, and dare I say ambition by abusing the appeal of 2D Mario.

I wouldn't go that far, I played and enjoyed 3D World personally, but it was a compromise on what a 3D Mario game is considered to be.

Animal Crossing switch never had some kind of "insider Infos" leaked. It is just standard expectation for a popular IP that sells really well.

Pikmin 4 was discussed here...and it could still be "hey Pikmin" for 3ds (we got some insider news speaking of some kind of reboot)

Metroid didn't get any strong rumors I think.

Zelda DLC 2 is what your are talking about I suppose. It is announced.

Others were indeed heavily rumored.

I don't think Metroid is going to be there, unless its Retro's game. I think Pokemon Stars, if real, will get its own big announcement.

My predictions:

Known:
A SHITLOAD of Mario Odyssey
Zelda BotW DLC
Splatoon 2
Xenoblade 2
Mario x Rabbids
FIFA for Nintendo Switch
FE Warriors
Skyrim

Guesses:
Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch
Retro's Game
Madden for Nintendo Switch
COD: WWII Beenox Port
Lots and Lots of Nindies
Rogue Squadron: Black Leader
Not gonna happen, but... please EA?

While I know about all the other reasons it probably won't happen, found an interesting post calling out how Retro can still make Metroid if need-be.

Retro Studios still has plenty of staff from the Metroid Prime Trilogy - Reddit

At the very least, the "no Prime staff" excuse is less of an issue than we thought.

I've no doubt that because the current team knows that "Retro Studios" is heavily associated with "Metroid Prime" - they'd be down to step up to the plate too.

OR they're doing their own take on Metroid and taking what they learned from DKTF to do a 2.5D Metroid.

Or they're doing a new IP - but I honestly think they're doing Metroid.

So I just had a thought of something. Keep in mind this is pure ramble and shouldn't be taken as anything but me hoping.

What if the reason Retro has waited 4 years to show something is because they've got two games on the pipeline?

So hypothetical scenario:

Halfway through the spotlight the retro studios logo goes on the screen with a new Diddy Kong Racing game. Gaf loses its mind Sammy gets banned and the internet blows up.

Then comes the very end of the spotlight.

Screen fades to black. Nothing heard for a solid 5 seconds.

Retro studios logo fades in complete with a cry from a metroid(akin to Super Metroid's title screen).

Gaf loses its mind again, Sammy is still banned and the internet explodes in a more positive way.
