Xbox E3 Conference 6/11 2pm PST

AC may be interesting but won't be the big splash. Some game nobody is expecting, in addition to Shadow of War and AC, would work really well.

Forza Motorsport Apex 2.

Forza 7 will be Play Anywhere, I don't think they need Apex.

Borderlands 3 sounds about right to me. It just seems to fit well into a reveal at the Xbox show.

You're right, but I can't shake the feeling that it's still too soon. But for the same reasons as Bioware's new IP, it could use the breathing room from Destiny given Sony's co-marketing deal (and Destiny 2 probably being in Sony's conference).

I dont think it will be a gameplay reveal. Just a trailer that shows Claptrap or something. And by no means do I think this game is coming this year. Its probably a fall of 2018 game. This is all my own guesses and thinking. And pairing with Xbox makes sense for them.

I also dont think its too soon. I mean.. we know its being worked on. Might as well just formally announce it.

Isn't KOTOR out of the question due to Disney's new approach to extended starwars media.

Jade Empire seems like it would be fair game.

Not terribly interested in the Scorpio hardware, just more interested to see what it looks like and what they call it. MSI, ASUS and some others have had some very impressive slim gaming PC's announced lately. Though obviously they cost more, the amount of hardware - we're talking GTX 1070 / 1080 with Core i7 - they have crammed into these cases is impressive!

They even managed to put a 1080 inside a 15. 6" ultrabook. It's insane compared to just one year before how giant the leap was.

Yeah, the designs are very nice as well. They still cost more than if you build it yourself, but considering these are console sized computers it makes up for it. I really feel like the gap that existed in terms of hardware design between the console makers and companies like ASUS has been erased.

The chances for a new KOTOR are pretty slim at least in the next few years.

EA has effectively revealed their 5-year Star Wars plan so far, and the notion they would hide KOTOR is extremely unlikely.

We already know this is the future of EA's Star Wars pipeline for the foreseeable future:

2017: Battlefront 2
2018: Amy Hennig's Star Wars
2019/20: Battlefront 3/Respawn's Star Wars

Any Bioware KOTOR is probably 2021 in the earliest, and clearly isn't in the works right now as the studios are working on a new Dragon Age and Dylan.

Star Wars please!

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/03/23/mass-effect-studio-working-on-new-franchise

Date: March 2013

Speaking at a Mass Effect panel at PAX East today, Mass Effect executive producer Casey Hudson revealed that his team is working on a "whole new fictional universe" and that they will be "building something new" like they did when Mass Effect was originally created.

Dylan is way more likely than Dragon Age, imo. If only because the next DA probably isn't that far along, and Dylan is dropping... what, next year?

Could be a good moment for them.

It would make pretty much any action game. Imagine Otogi with swords cutting down buildings or, as you suggest, Hulk punching the holy hell out of buildings.

Doing the stage transitions in Injustice 2 got me thinking about it. It would be bad ass to punch someone through buildings in real time/not scripted.

So it's June now and Assassins creed still hasn't been officially announced. Will they just wait until the ms conference now for the reveal?

XboxGaf, help me get hyped. I feel like I know everything about the Xbox conference already and my enthusiasm for getting Scorpio on day one is waning. Feeling like I might just stick it out with my One S for the rest of the year and put my gaming budget elsewhere.

I'll send you a pic of my Scorpio to drool over.

Only 9 days left now, wait to see if whatever they show gets you excited.

You are falling into the downplay affect. They were successful and gotcha. I mean, you're finally going to SEE PROJECT SCORPIO. They will refresh your mind what the machine is capable of for owners of 4k and 1080p sets! Most likely a new announcement regarding Xbox services (think xbox360 BC/lfg type of stuff). We finally get to SEE gameplay of CD3 and some BETTER footage (hopefully) of Sea of thieves. From the start of this year, they have clearly stated, this is the year of Scorpio. They will establish a platform and try to attract developers. This is a soft relaunch of the Xbox BRAND from my point of view. IF you're not hyped about the xbox ecosystem improving its self, then maybe the xbox ecosystem isnt for you. tough break.

So what's happening in the conference then?

Last E3 lack of announcement obviously means they save everything for Scorpio launch.
MS rebrand MS studio Global publishing.
MS move conference up a day so they can own that day means confidence.
Spencer said this is their most interesting conference in years.
Spencer said is better for fans after Scalebound cancelled obviously means they have better titles to replace it.
Spencer said they up investment in first party.
This is Spencer 3rd year, game take 3-4 years to make, it's about time we see his vision come to fruition.
Spencer visit Japan.

Ignore "insider", get hype!

Do you like Halo? Halo 5 is going to look insane with the 4K patch. No more bs sacrifices to get to 60fps. Same with Forza Horizon 3 and Gears (4K60versus). Honestly, I'm not confident about Scorpio being 399, but I don't doubt for a second this is going to be some serious premium console.
Ok let's say they don't announce a single fucking new game for 2018 (not gonna happen, it's just not). At least they would have to make it up by extensively updating their recent releases, or even announcing something similar to the 360 BC but with 4K patches. Say Crytek receives Scorpio devkits for their new game, if Scorpio is indeed so easy to port to, they should be able to get Ryse up to 4Κ (a 970 runs this in 4K, for reference) in no time.

I honestly think it's a good thing to go into any E3 with relatively low expectations. Worst case scenario is that you'll avoid disappointment. Best case, you're pleasantly surprised.

I do think this conference will start out with a bang (Scorpio name and design reveal) and be fast paced with tons of great looking games. Whether those games are your cup of tea is up to everyone to decide. Frankly, I've looking forward to the technical discussions that will surely follow on GAF and won't be hyperbolic at all.

You forgot the shut down of Lion Head.

I just finished Gears 4 and I can't wait to play it on Scorps. It's going to look amazing-balls!!!!

I haven't been paying much attention to official Ubisoft social media accounts, but this seems like the first time we've seen Ubisoft actually acknowledge that a new Assassin's Creed is in the works right? Also, specifically points to their conference, so...

I wanted to see this game on Scorpio because frankly with Ubisoft you never know if you're gonna get Watch Doged...

Edit:

I'm super excited for Gears 4 too, but I'm really hopeful for ReCore. My own conspiracy theory is they have been polishing the hell out of that game in order to:
1. Sell the DE actually looking like a definitive edition.
2. Keep adding stuff to their Unity engine to lay the foundation for ReCore 2.

One thing I'm not seeing many speculations if any is about further platform unification.

For instance, last year we had Play Anywhere. What's coming next? Some big publishers supporting XPA is a given, but one thing that I think would be insane to announce was for them to port the Game OS VM to windows, meaning you can play your entire library there given some performance requirements and that you have all the accessories (official controllers, kinect etc).

I mean, eventually they will have to deliver that, right? So why not now?

Forza Horizon 3, State of Decay 2, Dead Rising 4 and Phantom Dust were all new announcements during E3 2016.

And the fact that all but one of these launched already is quite telling. And even that one is launching this year.

I understand that people want to get hyped because Spencer has been in charge for three years, but don't forget that in those three years he has corrected Mattrick's mistakes, improved all kinds of things for Xbox, game pass, and so on. But also closed down some studios and canceled some games. But next to all that he has also been improving first party input? That doesn't add up for me.

And recently they more or less promised to do better for first party input. To me it sounded like future plans and not something long time in the making. But I would love to be wrong.

I suppose you're right! I just think that in this case, knowing things ahead of time has given me time to rationalize and decide what I want to do. Seeing footage of certain games should definitely get me "hyped" again, and I'm hoping that the Scorpio unveiling can do the same thing. At the same time, it might honestly be better that I'm not "hyped" as that sometimes goes hand-in-hand with irrational decisions for me.

No matter what I'll enjoy watching this live!

I mean it's business. The games were dogs. Would you rather he wasted his Xbox budget and time on them and then release shitty games?

What do you think will be the opening game?

I'm guessing Forza 7 or Ass Creed which would be boring to me but a possible lead into Scorpio reveal but I'm also thinking Scorpio might be last, what you've seen today is all Scorpio etc.

Lol

Imagine this shit on their high end surface devices. You wanted an Xbox portable console? You just got one. I'd love to get my Xbox stuff on my laptop, and you're right, this would be the next step for the XPA initiative.

Scorpio first.

They have been working on something like that for at least 3-4 years. 2-3 years ago they had Halo streaming flawlessly on a smart phone.

Nah I didn't mean it like that. I realize this stuff happens sadly enough, but damn man, Max The curse of Brotherhood was great and so was Kalimba. Admittedly I was skeptical about their next game but closing them? Shame. Same as Lionhead. I understand the canning of Legends but closing the studio too?

Ever since the news of Scalebound's cancelation I've been saying we shouldn't jump to any conclusions, which definitely happened a great deal here and on other forums. I definitely believe MS had good reason to call it quits, still a shame though. But I do appreciate Spencer a lot, just not gonna take everything he says as fact. They have been acknowledging the importance of first party for a while now but not a lot has changed yet.

For me it really is the only thing they are still lacking because with everything else for me they just wipe away the competition. Let's wait and see what E3 brings and the future.

Video won't be available in your region
hehehe

1v1 me!

And the fact that all but one of these launched already is quite telling. And even that one is launching this year.

What you should be concerned about is the fact that Forza Horizon 3 was rumoured since the launch of Horizon 2. State of Decay 2 was known as Class4 since 2013. Dead Rising 4 and Phantom Dust rerelease were the only true surprises.

This year there really isn't much to go on, except Forza Motorsport 7. Next year might be different though.

No. They have talked about it multiple times during financial conference calls, have confirmed the game will be released this fiscal year and shared this two weeks ago https://twitter.com/assassinscreed/status/864510768670101504

If he was any good he'd have had the foresight to shut down production on Fable Legends as soon as he got into power, and get started on a decent Fable 4.

I don't buy that Spencer is some saviour of the Xbox Brand, he's done very little if anything, that anyone else in charge would have done. I.E everything he has done has been the bloody obvious thing to do after that shambles.

Did anything ever come of those rumours about MS being involved with a KOTOR remake or remaster developed by Bioware, that the game was being held back because MS wanted it as a exclusive or something. Sounded pretty fake just wondering if it ever got resolved or if any hints came out of it.

Thanks for the GIF fix Doffen.

Lol

Yeah, not to mention the possibilities as the tech progress a switch like device would be a very realistic goal, perhaps even for arm devices and windows on arm.

They have been working on something like that for at least 3-4 years. 2-3 years ago they had Halo streaming flawlessly on a smart phone.

Yeah, though I think they still couldn't solve the latency image quality problems even with their clever researches to reduce that.

True enough. So far all we have is Forza 7, or perhaps the long teased second spin off (would make sense for them to push visual updates to Forza 6, other than saving them for 7), and the game from Studio Gobo. Everything else would be a complete surprise if there's actually anything lol.
