Bill was having a conversation, he wasn't doing a stand-up special. I'd have the same response if any of those comedians sat their asses down and blurted out "no I wouldnt do that, I'm not a faggot" in the middle of an interview.
Then you have a terrible memory.LOL at people who are actually offended by this.
This was just a (bad) joke he did.
I don't recall people freaking out at his disgusting comments and view points on Muslims, such as comparing Palestinians to battered wives who keep clinging on to their abusive husbands..
That's typically what an apology is right? Apologizing because it's racist but NOT to ease his mind would be the cynical thing to do.
"I don't feel bad but I have to apologize so whatever"
Knowing how Maher can be, I'm surprised he apologized.
I dropped him after that Milo interview. Still though, we have a President that hasn't uttered the sorry word, probably hasn't his entire life. That is more concerning since he is leading the country to ruin.
Knowing how Maher can be, I'm surprised he apologized.
What's just as concerning to me is that people still want his head for it. As long f he were Toni Lahren or Richard Spencer. God forbid somebody take his apology at face value.Maher gonna Maher, but at least he apologised this time.
Yeah I agree. But with Talking Heads getting chopped left and right from various networks lately for stupid shit, he was probably like ".....Uh-Oh..." I mean, you could see the look on his face. He knew he fucked up lolKnowing how Maher can be, I'm surprised he apologized.

lol, whatever. He clearly uses it in his day to day life, fuck him & his apology.
Exactly.Good. Thankfully he's not doubling down on it.
It's problematic that he said it at all, but the fact that he retracted it means that it serves as a warning to others. Just don't say it. Easy.

Maybe if he used it referring to someone then I'd bet he does. But the historical reference doesn't come across that way.
She said, "Bill wants someone he can put down in an argument, tell you how ghetto you are, how big your butt is, and that you're an idiot. That's why you never see him with a white girl or an intellectual. I might as well have been a Muslim woman with my head wrapped, walking 10 paces behind my man.
Great. Let's move on.
True.To be fair, it's not hard to believe it's not a face value apology, because Maher dies on hills that are not worth dying on all the time.
Context for this: that's Karine "Superhead" Steffans.from Karrine Steffans, a black woman who dated in him in the past
Bill slipped. Clearly his women let him say the n-word.
from Karrine Steffans, a black woman who dated in him in the past
It's bad, but it doesn't rise to the level of an offense deserving of termination in my eyes. He should probably take some time at the beginning of his next show to offer a more formal apology though; no excuses or jokes of being tired/high, just an honest "I fucked up, I'm sorry and I'll strive not to do it again. " Full stop.

I'm not a comedian.Go to work on Monday and try it. It might work out for you. Might not. Let's roll that dice and test your theory, yes?
I am conflicted, because I thought the joke was made in poor taste and he shouldn't have even gone there, but at the same time...I am not into literally banning words, even horrible ones that could be used against me, my family or my cultural background, let alone in the context of a tasteless yet otherwise non-aggressive joke. Which means people have a right to be offended and demand an apology, but not sure if it should go far beyond that.
So...fire him?
He doesn't deserve a job following that.
Not happening. Not enough outrage.Inexusable imo. Show cancelled when?
Did he end it with a hard er?
I thought it was funny. It's all about context.
Not an excuseI'm not a comedian.
I think there's a difference. Ending it with er would leave no room for interpretation. But then again I probably have no authority on determining how offensive it is.There is no distinction if you are not black.
There are white folks in the south that sound like they are saying "nigga" but they sure as shit mean "nigger."
Forcing people to face consequences for the words they is not "banning" anything.

So you think there's a difference when racists sound like they're saying nigga but mean nigger?I think there's a difference. Ending it with er would leave no room for interpretation. But then again I probably have no authority on determining how offensive it is.
Hold on, Bill Maher actually apologized for something he said? Wow.
Maher has a laundry list of disgusting comments.
Bill Maher is getting a lot of heat for using a racial slur on his show Friday night, but this is hardly the first time Maher has made controversial comments.
The television host typically defends his racist, sexist, transphobic and Islamophobic remarks as a part of his anti-politically correct rhetoric. Real Time With Bill Maher has long been a place where the host could make comments that degrade almost every minority group.
Maher once compared prominent Muslim singer Zayn Malik to the Boston Marathon bomber and claimed that millions of Muslims supported the Charlie Hedbo attacks.
He normalized former Brietbart editor Milo Yiannopoulus, who is known for his hateful ideas about the transgender community. Maher even invited Yiannopoulus on his show, defending his claims that controversial bathroom laws were protecting women and children.
After former Fox News host Bill OReilly compared Rep. Maxine Waters hair to a James Brown wig, Maher wondered why women of color were offended.
Why is that racist? Because shes compared to black people? Maher said on his show.
He also once accused Hillary Clinton of crying in 2008 as a campaign strategy. And during the 2014 Gaza War, Maher compared the designated terrorist group Hamas to a crazy woman.
Mahers history has raised concerns over his position as a voice for liberals.
Made a bad joke in bad taste. Apologized for the stupid decision. Cool.
That's all I take away from this really. He frequently says "edgy" shit. He just barked up the wrong tree on this one. It's good he realized that because I really thought he wasn't going to apologize.
There is no distinction if you are not black.
There are white folks in the south that sound like they are saying "nigga" but they sure as shit mean "nigger."
Bill's not funny either. Comedic credentials are a thin shield to be hiding behind. Do let us know how it goes on Monday, yes?
You have to be on the older end if you think this true.
I mean guys like Big Joe said the N word for years without any sort of backlash. In fact, he didnt receive any until 50 Cent called him out on it after they had a rap beef.
