I'm still bothered by how Cauli just went SSJ2 out of the blue (ha!) in the episode. Really didn't sit well with me. It just happened, she did literally nothing to achieve it at all. I get it, she's a genius. So are Goku, Gohan and Vegeta. Look how long it took them regardless.

Don't know, didn't like that bit at all :S Now I can imagine that she'll get Blue just from seeing Goku or Vegeta using it during the tournament.

Makes sense forgot about, would explain why they weren't beaten by the other universe top fighters if he only got to Goku's level by fighting the Z-warriors.

He only completed it when he turned into infinite Zamas right

Pretty much.

Black's plan from the start was to build his power, get stronger, and kill mortals. Also, from what he said to Future Zamasu, Merged Zamasu as always the end game. Namely, make himself as strong as possible and then fused to make the ultimate god.

Also remember he would have an immortal meat shield to help him if he got into trouble.

I think at this point, you just have to accept that Toriyama will pull anything out of his ass to make the story "works". DBZ was already filled with questionable power scaling, DBS took it to the next level.

This was a bad episode overall. Frieza returning again leaves an awful taste, Cauli going SSJ2 without even blinking is even worse. Animation and art just drag it down even further. I feel like Super is graded on a curve due to nostalgia but whatever.

Will stick around to see Goku Vs Jiren.

So is U4 going to try and recruit Frieza by giving him a better offer?

With regards to this episode. Garbage tbh :/ The whole U6 Cabba Cauli Kale thing is forced and just plain bad.

Well U6 Saiyans have a much higher base powerlevel than U7.

Even if that were true, which we have no real indication so far, it still doesn't make much sense.

Vegeta said him and Cabba were comparable in base strength. Vegeta a old grown ass man whose been through numerous life threatening fights and intense base power improving training with Whis had a similar base strength to a child whose never even been in a battle where he felt uncontrolled rage. I think there can be a case made for the U6 saiyans being stronger.

ooof my heart

Best Waifu confirmed.

This is such a disturbing reality of db in general when it comes to power levels, power scaling and power consistently
And I like cabba

We do though or at least implications, Cabba was equal to Vegetas Base form who was stronger than Gotenks SS3, remember Beerus at the start of Super couldn't belinve that Goku in his base form could beat Frieza and then had a massive boost for base form thanks to SSG, so his base form is stronger than DBZ SS3. Vegeta is around the sae level so Cabba is around god level without transformations making him stronger than probably everything in Z except people like Vegito. He sought renso his master for help plus Caulifla is shown to be stronger than him even in base form according to Renso

Cabba the guy we considered a weakling and a wuss could have probably ended every arc in Z early without transformation. It's so weird to think about it.Powers levels are bullshit and weird

I think the point might be that Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, etc crutch off transformations to boost their power in fights and the U6 saiyans never had that luxury to get stronger only improving their base strength. If Goku and Vegeta couldn't transform they would get wrecked be Toppo, Hit, 17, Buu, Jiren, Piccolo and plenty others.

Vegeta was activily testing him during that fight though. Plus there's also the whole Frost thing, whom Cabba looks up to and feels is a strong warrior and just gets rekt by Goku + Vegeta. Even Piccolo almost managed to beat him.....................sorta! :v

That's a whole lot of assumptions though (and a discussion I really don't want to take part in). And it still doesn't explain how she just went up the 2nd level of SSJ like it was nothing. No effort, no thinking about it, nothing really. Just *bloop* and now she's a SSJ2!

Like I said previously, the way the show demonstrates this feels very "fancfiction-y" in the sense that zero explanations and context are given (which is ususally my main gripe with said fanfiction).

Maybe I'll come around it if they provide further context, but the way it's shown in this episode? Didn't like it. Felt weird.

I reckon some of y'all would enjoy the show a lot more if you just let go of power levels. They were increasingly ridiculous as DBZ continued, and the current arc has made it pretty clear DBS is moving even further away from power levels towards modern shonen styles of everyone being roughly on par, but with different techniques

Goku and Vegeta both transformed vs Frost. They both crutch off transformations. Vegeta said himself that they were evenly matched in normal state. He had no reason to lie to himself.

I have been using this quote a lot lately:

Vegeta about Cabba: "He's good! Looks like we're evenly match in normal form. At this rate, this match is going nowhere."

He wasn't even talking to Cabba. He was talking to himself and had no reason to lie. And Piccolo fought a heavily weakened Frost who got his ass kicked by Super Saiyan Goku. Even then, Goku said Piccolo stood no chance.

And people are still keep using the term 'fanfic'. I don't think you know what that means. Fanfic, just means something written by fan. Nothing more, nothing less. Quality varies like any work of fiction.

Kale's introduction and her being confirmed jealous lesbian was great, too.

Eh, let's not be so sure of this. I can understand getting one's hopes up for this sort of thing, but it's Japan and a master-student dynamic. Kale doesn't necessarily want anything romantic from Caulifa, she just wants her praise and attention. A jealous friend who thinks that her idol is going to get a boyfriend and forget about her is a common anime dynamic, so I'm keeping my progressive excitement in check until we get something concrete.

Also, this is clearly setting up a conflict in the next arc. More than likely, Caulifa ends up falling for Goku or Vegeta, which prompts Kale to go nuts again mid-tournament.

Put me in the camp "fed up with the saiyan garbage that is exacerbated by U6 saiyans".

They need to get this thing started already.

I'm gonna guess Kale, I don't think people should assume that SS2 Caulifla is as strong as Kale just because she deflected an attack.

I'm speeding through the episode again really quick right now and the worst I'm seeing is some kinda weird stuff art wise. 88 was a worse looking episode I think.
There was also nothing wrong with the animation, the character acting in particular was pretty great. The Kale fight scene could have been better, sure, but it wasn't bad by any stretch. This episode was totally serviceable, nothing amazing, but serviceable.
Agreed but still

You're mad because the U6 Saiyans took the spotlight off your boy 17, who the show finally remembers existed :P

Personally, I am more tired of people complaining the the U6 Saiyans to the point that is all anyone seems to what to discuss.

Going by the scan of SSJ Kale, this could presumably be the last time we actually see LSSJ -- if Cabba/Caulifla 'fix' her loss of control off screen before the tournament.

Goku transformed vs Frost. Vegeta said himself that they were evenly matched. He had no reason to lie to himself.

Regardless, that's not my main issue with this episode.

You would understand what I mean by it, if you read what I actually wrote.

Also, same as above. Cabba being strong (or Cauli , or Kale, etc) isn't my issue with the episode.

It's the way SSJ2 in particular is achieved. Even among the myriad of silly things Z and Super do with power levels and transformations, THAT felt off, weird and made zero sense. By comparison, the "4 months of training!" and the "sitting on my butt all day gets me a super duper power boost!" manage to feel logical.

As Toriyama said, Super Saiyan 2 is just an extension of Super Saiyan 1. It isn't even a real transformation.

Thats fine, You stated there was no indication but there is plenty like a child being as powerful as Vegeta without him crutching on transformations

Wow, what a great non answer there. Cool beans.

True enough. We wouldn't even have this discussion (well, not with me at least) if the show bothered to be clear about that from the start though. As many episodes as they "waste" setting up the respective arcs, it always seems they forget to be clear about this or that, which leads to some confusion.

We're not starting the actual tournament buzzer until July huh lol

Looks like that is a distinct possibility. We'll know in a few days when episode listings come out.
Actually i found that on another board using it as ammo to trash the latest episode

It's so dumb that people use inbetweens to trash something's animation, inbetweens are necessary for smooth animation.
I just checked and that particular shot is on screen for a single frame.

Nothing new. This classic is actually a meme:

Ignoring that is a in-between of this:

But it's from Episode 5, so it as free play.

See, they still got ya boi.

-Was impressed by how Goku turned that conversation around on Vegeta
-Frieza is lame
-Cabba, Calif, and Kale are cool and all, but I'm not too into their scenes.
-I wonder if Jiron is the mortal who is stronger or if there will be another powerhouse
-Yenma telling Goku to take Frieza to take him of his hands if he betrays them was funny

That God of Destruction from the other universe is totally going to offer Freeza safe haven for fighting with them. Also lol at SS2 Cauli

Caulifla comes off as someone who was a genius and crazy strong. She probably had the base level needed for SS2 and once she knew Super Saiyan existed, she was able to just reach in and get both forms. She might even be able to grab SS3.

I'm surprised Cabba is the one who figured why Kale was mad in the first place. That probably why he doesn't have any love interest yet, he is not dense enough

Also we saw 2 other kids within the universe go ssj as if it was nothing compared to the ppl of uni7
