Nothing would be said even if it was $399. Jez, Matt, etc... aren't saying anything about price because they can't (assuming they know anything).

I didn't know he was an actual insider. I definitely agree though if that's the case. Guy claims to be an Xbox fan but then posts a negative tidbit or two then on to the next thread.
 
Why are people so obsessed about price?

I just want the most powerful console out there that they can put out. I hope they don't cheap it out. If people want the cheap Xbox then you know the Xbox slim is a decent bit of kit.

I also bet most of the moaners regarding the price are the people who have no interest in buying one.

I just want a powerful console with some quality games to showcase it. Not bargain wars.

Because the higher you go the more viable it is to just say "fuck that id rather just build a pc if im spending that kind of money" im not comfortable paying more than 400 for a console

I don't have any particular problem with the guy, but I do notice he has been coming to these threads just to repeat the same negative stuff under the pretension of being realistic (although it seems in his reality there's nothing to be excited, giving his reactions). But whatever... I usually prefer to avoid getting into these discussions about other users attitudes.

Price determines sales.

Sales determine market share.

Market share determines investment.

Investments means better products that take advantage of the system.

So, if you want quality games to run well especially on Scorpio, then it's in your best interest it is priced reasonably, so Microsoft will have more reason to push and invest in its features and games taking advantage thereof.

i really don't understand the concept of teasing nothing and not saying what you know. its basically hedging your bets at this point.

This character assassination shit needs to stop. Matt's reliable and measured, and he's expressed plenty of optimism for Scorpio. It's perfectly reasonable for him to measure in when someone else is making exaggerated claims, nor does it require others to lash out when he expresses his opinion.
 
Imagine if they called it Super Xbox, like Super Nintendo from back in the day.

I admit it does sound a lot more natural with the Nintendo name, but that could just be nostalgia kicking in.

Even if that isn't the case, and even if I am annoyed by insiders making cryptic posts, there's no need to attack him for it.

The level of defensiveness in this thread is getting a tad ridiculous on that note.

Wondering if someone who is going to the show could take a nice picture of a spot to park the trains.

Can't find any large enough or the right angle to park them when searching online. :/

Or maybe someone else has a better suggestion or knows of one?

EDIT: Of coarse that would mean taking the time to send the pic... lol. Probably not going to happen.

It happens anytime Matt tells folks to bring their hype down, which I've seen him do a couple of times. But maybe he's just being helpful? It doesn't mean he has an agenda. Dude is a dev and I'm sure he's just as helpful in Nintendo and Sony threads. If you have a legit beef with the guy, address it. If you have an accusation, prove it.

I don't think that coming to the thread 2 days before the event and announcement, just to tell people they should lower expectations without giving any hint, and probably relating to a matter he isn't even aware of (I assume he was talking about the price) is being helpful. It's E3 for christ sake... if you step in any thread right now people are having unrealistic expectations about everything; things even much more absurd then trying to guess a reasonable price for Scorpio in the current market.

And I don't even believe Scorpio will be 399. I'm betting on 450~499. But I believe that at this point, after so much discussions about Scorpio, if people believe in 399 they're well aware they could be totally wrong... they're choosing to expect it, so just let them.
 
Microsoft is to blame for the out of control expectations, with their "first true 4K console" marketing, the teaser videos of people looking like they are seeing the 2nd coming, and treating Scorpio like it will turn the tides of the console War (indicating competitive pricing)... we're at the point where if it's not $399 and having mind blowing & experience transforming performance, many people will be disappointed.

Everybody really loves that reality show character that says, "I'm just telling the truth. I'm sorry if you don't like it." no one thinks that person is an asshole. Nope.

And Matt doesn't just quell exaggerated claims, his goal is to squash hope and excitement. He's just a dick. Has nothing to do with being right or wrong. Everybody knows that nothing is confirmed until Sunday.

Personally, I just put him on ignore, but because this is the shit he stirs up, that ends up not doing much good.

Well, I will agree that E3 is the one time where people should get as hyped as they want to be. I'm not saying I know why Matt does it, I'm saying we don't know why he does it.
