To be fair.

The UVP (recommended retail price) is still 299 € but retailers are selling it at this low price.

Same would go with the Scorpio. After a few months this would also drop down to <399.

Really? Damn. Finding an Xbox One for 299 is a challenge.

Yeah, I just read it was debunked.
This is the quote, I got some stuff wrong but basically
"When I mentioned FM7 in the Beam Stream, Alan Hartman (studio boss) replied with 'FM?'"
Everything else is just inference

Damn I don't want to get my hopes up but I would be so happy if it turns out they gave FM a break, nobody expects that and that it IS indeed another spin off.

It could be slightly telling that they haven't announced FM7 yet. I believe they announced FM6 before that E3 didn't they?

Your calculation puts this exactly around $400 without including Transportation costs, retailer cuts and MS profits.

Based on your estimates it should be at least $449 or more.

I would expect either $449 to break in or with minor profit or $499 if MS wants to sell this for profit as it's not mainstream product because target base is enthusiasts.

Wouldn't everything run a bit under, in practice, due to the efficiencies of buying in bulk.

Also, Iirc retailers don't really make much from console sales- mainly peripherals and software sales

They did, but that was to coincide with the cover car, being the Ford GT, which was revealed back in January of 2015.

I have a feeling the success of Horizon 3's reveal (I.E No announcement until E3, blow people away with a trailer + quick 3-5 min stage demo) has definitely influenced them to do similar for FM7. So I wouldn't get your hopes up at all tbh.

FM6: Half a year before E3 (January)

Forza Horizon: A month before E3 (May)
Forza Horizon 2: A week before E3 (June)
Forza Horizon 3: E3 press conference (June)

Phil Spencer on Scorpio pricing:

http://nzgamer.com/features/1490/ph...d-the-changing-console-landscape.html/page-4/

He specifically mentions that Xbox One S and Scorpio will not be priced that much apart from each other that they feel like disconnected devices, they will be priced as part of the same family. He even mentions that the pricing difference between different Xbox One S specs is something that he sees as a guideline of how to price Scorpio accordingly.

Anyone expecting anything above $349-$399 will be disappointed (or glad).

I think they will price it like so:

$199 500GB Xbox One S
$249 1TB Xbox One S
$299 2TB Xbox One S
$399 1TB Xbox One Scorpio
$449 2TB Xbox One Scorpio
You are forgetting that at the time Phil made that statement the 1TB Xbox One S was going for $349 and the 2TB Xbox One S was going for $399. That would mean he was thinking Scorpio would be $499 when he said that. He was not factoring in the price large price drop the Xbox One S would have to do in order to maintain sales. Scorpio is going to be Microsoft's premium console and will not be competing on price. The S is the budget console that will do that.

Wait, so no Sot the presser?

All that says is that they will have live gameplay after the show. Whatever they show at the press conference will have been recorded in advance.

I think Spencer is smart enough to know where Xbox One S would be by holiday this year. Or do you think they will price the next Xbox after Scorpio at 800 because hey, it can't compete with Scorpio on price?

When they announced the S they announced the $299 price. He also probably assumed price drops from then until now.

Legit weird. If that gameplay looks any good they are DUMB to save it for Mixer. Not a lot of people tune in to Mixer yet. Most people who watch E3 are hooked on whatever outlet they choose for E3 coverage, they won't go to fucking Mixer after the show. They'll watch the Keighley/IGN/Gamespot/GiantBomb/etc discussions that follows.

Sea of Thieves is the game that most needs a full fledged, detailed demo on stage.

TBH I could see groups like GiantBomb /EZA keep the stream going.

Yeah, especially after the Forza Tech / Scorpio info from Digital Foundry back in April.

You have to look at it the other way. Everybody expects a new Forza Motorsport. It's an uneven year, there will be a new FM. But then why not show Scorpio running it? Unless they switch to dynamic lighting (which they won't, because they have to support Xbox One S) FM7 will not look much different from FM6. It already is a beautiful game. Secrecy makes sense when you want to surprise, but FM7 will neither be surprising nor look surprising (unless, again, they change to dynamic lighting). This combined with Turn 10 moving into a new office at this point in time leads me to believe there will be no FM7 this year. A new entry in the Forza universe will arguably have a bigger impact than announcing FM7 at E3.

Sea of thieves is going to be there. They likely are going to show new footage at the mixer stream. Ex. If they show a quest on stage, the livestream may show another aspect of the game

Mixer is definitely growing though. Over 50,000 registered members have subscribed to the e3 conference show for Mixer (need an account to register), although it is being advertised on the dashboard. Probably many other going to be watching the conf on Mixer without an account.

But even as a trailer, if they show gameplay at the conference then it wouldn't be a gameplay premiere lol

lol semantics. I bet the stage presentation will be a sizzle reel that just highlights some exciting moments.

But the post-show willl dig deep into the mechanics and structure.

History begs to differ. For this entire generation the Xbox One's pricing has been reactive to its poor sales relative to the PS4. We've had numerous attempts to set a higher price only to have to quickly reduce them when sales dropped.

Any link for subscribing?

You don't think Phil would factor in the difference in pricing over time?

Hmmm they really do need to properly show SoT during the show too though. I bet there are plenty of people that won't watch that stream afterwards. I guess they could show a trailer at the show and full new gameplay afterwards.

In don't mind that because I will watch that stream and I've played the alpha multiple times, but more people do need to see what this is all about.

I hope they show what you can do without a group in SoT. My schedule is crazy so I game at random times which makes it hard to get a crew together.

Yeah, I don't think that they have shown the game off a great detail, even the closed alpha is still under NDA, so there isn't lots of footage and screens.
There isn't even a huge amount of detail as to what the game is outside of the stuff that lots of people have played.

Quotes like these make it seem like they've got dynamic lighting running on base hardware as well as Scorpio.

"Since those first two days we've actually shaved out a couple of milliseconds because we need more time, we want to bring more features into the game and importantly we want to bring them into the game in both versions," Tector reveals - and it'll be interesting to see whatthey do with that additional GPU time in the next Forza. "Having that level of detail there lets us pull off optimisations that only a first party is going to do and usually they only do them for the one console they're working on. And now the two of them are so similar and so compatible, we can apply optimisations over here that are going to benefit Xbox One. We can actually bring features to both versions we might have not have been able to

He explains how the technology and new features each team introduces becomes iterated upon, altered or just taken wholesale for the next team's title.

Looks like they're using the technical alpha on the show floor vs people play at home (unless i'm interpreting that wrong)

Technical alpha or not, Sea of Thieves looks really pretty. I just hope that Rare talks more about the game at this e3, and not just show off a bunch of happy-go-lucky streamers overreacting more than my mother does at my anime collection.

Anyone expecting this game to be an early 2018 release?

Lol, but to be fair, the first match I played with friends went exactly like that too, we would just goofy around for about an hour until we went to took on the chest quests.

Early access release this year, full release next year I reckon.

Either that or it's going into game preview this year and launching in summer/fall 2018.

EA is going to talk about Scorpio today with Madden.
