Giant Bomb @ E3 2017: <>

30 minutes of Star Wars Battlefront was more than enough showing for me.

Way Out was the only game I wanted to see an extended demo of, and they gave us nothing. But that extra fifteen minutes of a nonsensical Battle Droid clusterfuck really entertained.

I super dont care about battlefront multiplayer, and of course they had to have shitty commentary all over it. ugh.

just show the new thing, the singleplayer, and let youtubers sort out the multiplayer

I'm impressed they touted not only the existence of a campaign in Battlefront, but also 30 minutes of Star Wars coverage, and still didn't manage to show off the campaign.

That's some incredible trolling

Guys...are we the ones who are out of touch? I can't be the only one who thought the "influencer" section terrible...right?

But who knows what'll happen...

Yeah, I find that shit lame, but there's an audience who knows who those people are. That said, for as much people apparently cared about "ethics in games journalism," all I took out of this event was "Why would anyone trust anything that comes out of these people's mouths in regards to EA games or any other for that matter"

Kind of shocked there wasn't more heat on EA after the press conference from the crew. Usually they chew right through hyper canned demos like the Need For Speed one.

Somehow I didn't realize Microsoft was having their conference tomorrow, on Sunday, until they mentioned it at the end. That's weird. I'm used to Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft, Sony.

I thought it was okay.

practically any time anyone talked, the show would be better if no one was talking.

Man...I'm only 28 but I feel so old. I can't be that out of touch...I was there to ride the first wave of Let's Plays. It just feels so weird seeing these companies lean so hard into the whole influencers angle :S

If you want to be here, you get cynical like the rest of us. Otherwise, there's an Easy Allies thread that's more than happy to welcome your unbridled optimism.

"Like the rest of us".. not really; cynicism is easy. Optimism takes effort. My complaints about Battlefront seem to be largely solved by BF2. I don't care much for NFS but that co-op prison break game could be awesome. I'm going to play the old man card, at 37 I've seen a lot of games and by and large they look pretty amazing in 2017.

I didn't think anyone would take my post literally haha. I'm kidding.

I think it's important to state how much of the lean towards influencers and personality sucks. Not like any of us here is going to be tricked into thinking these people are giving honest feedback. But I feel bad for the younger people..

Was only sorta half-watching since not much was interesting to me from EA. Only other things I'll be able to watch live are Microsoft and Sony, which is unfortunate. Similarly, won't be able to catch most of the nightly shows. But I'll be looking forward to catching up later, at least.

I am hoping Abby gets to sit on one or two of the panels, though, cause I'd really like to see more of the new folks. Like, I'm younger than Ben but don't watch a lot of Twitch streams and such so it's cool that he's able to bring some knowledge of that stuff to the table.

Hopefully no one leaves this year? Waypoint's great and I'm super happy for Austin but it's weird to vaguely fear the end of E3/GOTY stuff now?

Just realised that they managed to play Battlefront continuously without the server dropping them back to the menu for longer than nearly any session I had when I first played the original on X1.

Snark aside it looks lovely, and one thing that the prequels did not suffer from was sloppy design which really helps. I was given the last one as Christmas present since I didn't buy it for myself due to lack of a campaign. I'll keep an eye out for impressions/reviews as I am interested purely because it's a AAA Star Wars effort with a single-player campaign.

Looking forward to see what Bioware have produced. Teaser seems to be up my alley for atmosphere.

The prison game (Way Out?) looks really interesting, but suspect I'll never get to play it the way the dev intends as my friends are COD/Ghost Recon type gamers. Hopefully the BEAST crew are coming up with a series name already for the play through.

Other than FIFA which I'll pick up on Switch unless they completely phone it in, it was a very typical EA conference for me as outside of ME or DA I'm not their target market. Hopefully those that are found something to excite them.

Exactly the same. Every now and then I peak my head out from GB content and just think it all looks kind of gross.

I don't understand how you can be into GB and not at least understand where this twitch streamer stuff comes from. Like, they sort of were on the ground floor of getting people to watch them play games. It's now just blown up and become monetized and raided like everything eventually does.

The funny part about the Influencers is that they were almost all from other media. Like Muselk is a TF2/Overwatch streamer but no one gives a shit about playing EA games online so they had to pull youtubers from other stuff

I think that was the point. To get audiences from other games onto theirs. That is the reason people hire/book "influencers", to get those millions of eyeballs they "influence" onto your product.

I get enjoying watching people play video games, it's just the type of people who seem to be super popular is what I feel so out of touch with. I never would have liked the screaming and shouting bull shit streamers when I was younger. I also prefer GB's way of doing things where they're mostly detached from their audience, and just do their thing. Anytime I've taken a look at some streamer, most of the time they're just thanking people for subscribing over and over, or commenting on some random person in the chat. Just play the damn game I keep thinking.

Hey you don't have to convince me, but at it's core it's all the same thing is what I'm saying. Watching people play games because you like their personalities.

That is the point

but it never works for them. They can never hold it, they've tried dozens of times before. Their only successful streaming game is FIFA

It the same as using celebrities to talk about product or things they know nothing about. Like for the need for speed thing, no one is going to stream that.
