More RAM, a more advanced cooling system, higher clocked parts, a 4K drive, all of these things add up, even a year later.
Whatever the final price is, it costs a fair bit more to build than the Pro did.
Agreed. I think they can swing $400.00, but it will be at a lost as compared to PS4 PRO...but again.MS is in a predicament here whatever they do.....They really need this device to take off...
Thing is, if they price it at $400.00 dollars and eat some of that cost, Sony can simply discount the PRO to $349 or $299 with maybe a PS4 slim at $249.99...One thing is sure, MS can't go below $400.00 on the Scorpio for financial reasons and yet they can't go too high over 400.00 for fear of the console staying on shelves......
It all falls back to one thing now innit, it has to be about the games.....MS has to convince a huge chunk of gamers that the games they will show at E3 are must haves, their games showing has to be even better than the hardware showing tbh...I'm not sure SOT, Halo 5, Crackdown, Halo MCC remastered, Forza remastered, Forza Horizon and Gears remastered are going to cut it....They need some exclsuives in the vein of OG XBOX with Ninja Gaiden, DOA, and all those Sega games....
Hey, I loved the specced up XB like anyone here, the oodles of ram, the higher clocks, a bit disappointed that they couldn't put in a zen CPU, but as it is...I think people should temper their expectations just a bit....I think they will have better looking multiplats now, but the difference won't be like XB1 is to PS4 with PRO vs Scorpio, both will render at resolutions close enough ......1800p vs Native4k in most cases or even 2160CB vs Native to boost performance on the PRO side....This is no where close to 720p at 60fps vs 1080p at 60fps (worse case scenario this gen)......
So yes, I really don't think MS will win back marketshare because of third party software, it will still boil down to their own first party vs the competition respectively...and they will have to invest in some neat genres and push that system for people to take notice...Show us a neat looking exclusive fighter, a neat platformer, a gorgeous open world exclusive....MS needs to come guns blazing on the software tomorrow and I can't wait to see what has been cooking up...My wish is, I hope they focused on Scorpio software just as they did on Scorpio hardware tbh.
