Giant Bomb @ E3 2017: <>

Well, guess I'll sleep for 4 hours now and wake up at 4:30 UK time for the Bethesda conference. Not like my sleep schedule was good to begin with.

WHATS UP MY FELLOW OTAKU

In terms of console gaming, I go where the best experience is possible for my games outside of first party so that is why I am so excited for the One X. I can get why people will write it off because of the very weird first party support, but that has never been the reason I buy a console. Third party games are more plentiful and what I play 90% of the time so again, I go to whoever can give me the best of those games.

My PS4 Pro will simply become my secondary console replacing the One S. I didn't buy a 4K TV to not play and consume 4K content. A One X is simply a no brainer for me to buy.

It's nice people will have more options. The way I see it:

One S: For people who want 4K blu-rays and will mainly play games consumed by the casual market

PS4 Slim: Cheap and more powerful than the XBOX counterpart. Great console to buy for more serious gamers that have a budget

Xbox One X: The definitive console for 'hardcore' gamers with a 4K TV

The only way I see Pro fitting in (barring a perm price drop) is if people have the money and will just get both the Pro and XOX or if you really just want a Sony machine and nothing to do with MS.

We'll see if the Pro picks up pace (in terms of fidelity in games) and if it will hold up at all against XOX's native 4K supported games.

When it comes to PS5 and Xbox Two, who is going to buy them day 1?

Early adopters are getting burned more than ever. First PS4 Pro, and also Xbox One S and now X.

You can buy it day one or wait 3 years for the refresh or instead of waiting 4-5 years of the "cycle" you can wait 8+ years to jump in "current gen".

It works because you can resell your system and buy upgrade for $100. I sold my old PS4 on Letgo.

Knowing there is a refresh is nothing new. On Sony side, we got the PSone after PS1, PSTwo few years after PS2 launch and the PS3 Slim years after the fatty. This isnt new to us. The only difference now is that instead of slimming the system down, the costs remain the same as launch but offer "upgrades" not just tripping and cutting down on parts.

Sony tomorrow:
God of War
TLOU Part 2
Destiny 2 with exclusive content
COD WW2 gameplay
Bloodborne 2
PS4 Pro price drop

and Spiderman
Days Gone
MvC:Infinite
Sucker Punch game (?)
Red Dead Redemption 2 (?)
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy (If they don't have Charlie, i'd rather them not even bother)

Whenever you feel like upgrading. The good thing about current consoles is they're not likely to change architecture so backwards compatibility is likely.

Are you allergic to PC gaming? You said you go to where the best experience is.

I feel like I must be aging at this point. I just don't care about "more power" anymore. I just want original game ideas, rather than shoot the gun game #8592. Those games all looked impressive technically, but it was just all too stale.

Not really a Microsoft-specific issue, just a general landscape issue, for me.

I have a 4K capable gaming PC, but I simply don't prefer using it. Besides, PC is still missing out on things like HDR which has kept me away. I feel like Brad in that I just want to sit back and enjoy a console type experience. I tend to not be able to motivate myself to play a game on PC since I always end up tabbing out real quick and that leads into me doing something else. It's all personal preference in the end. I'm gonna update my post to mention console experience (even though many PC games have released with issues that weren't a thing on console)

Maybe he, like a lot of people (not as many) have both? For example, I have a fantastic gaming PC, yet I have a pro and XS. I'll be getting a 1X. I have friends on each console ecosystem. When I am going to play with them, I want the best possible experience I can have. That will be 1X.

I more or less agree with this.

I would love to see the reason the majority of people bought a PS4 Pro. I know I bought it to show off my 4k TV.

Well, Phil Spencer did nothing to convince me to get an Xbox One (S or X)

I am happy with my 2014 PS4 (not Pro)

You guys think Bethesda opens with Wolfenstein? They have to, right?

I might stay up for that and go to bed. Gotta be up at 6 but fuck, I am excited to play a new Wolfenstein...I WANT TO SEE THE FOOTAGE.
