Giant Bomb @ E3 2017: <>

Not exactly. Here is more info about the game:

All new info: • Started working on game before unity • Brand new fighting system • New A.I. • No minimap but a elder scrolls type compass at top • No more sprinting button, speed depends on analog stick • Crouching is back • Story is being kept a secret • Eagle vision is a subtle pulse that highlights objects not enemies • Takes place during the ascent and reign of cleopatra • You can climb everything in the game • Large and small cities with many landmarks including Memphis and Alexandria • The controllable eagle leak was true • NPC's have a day/night cycle and includes time for them to eat, sleep, work, and "answer the call of nature" • Attack buttons are the right shoulder and trigger • A.I. does not take turns to attack • New combat system is more hit-box driven • As you fight, an adrenaline gauge fills up, and when both attack buttons are pressed powerful attacks are unleashed • Left shoulder button is lock on • There are treasures to find in the depths of the water (sunken ships, long-forgotten ruins) • Stat element of customization is removed • New gear system where players can improve specific parts of your gear by crafting materials • Leveling system that has a level cap of 40 • Bayek is not the only playable character in the game but that character is a secret • There are legendary items to loot in the game • You can add blocked arrows to your inventory • You can no longer one hit enemies that are more powerful than you with your hidden blade • Buttons for free-running up and down are removed • Puzzles are back but more challenging and less switches • Much more in depth ability graph with 3 paths (Seer, Warrior, Hunter) • There are gladiator battles in arenas"

And they showed almost none of that at the conference. They showed the bird drone thing, and the new combat which looked like the same clunky combat that's been in every AC game. Maybe this game is better but they didn't really show any of that.

Is there any reason to think Giant Bomb would do this? I follow them regularly and they seem to shy away from anything political and/or gamergate.
They spent a relatively large portion of their GOTY awards putting Palmer Lucky on blast. It's not a regular focus for the crew, but I could definitely see Jeff raising it.

right wing nutjobs harassing women

Yeah but why? Wasn't it just something to do with Zoe Quinn? All of a sudden there's a huge army of spastics hating on women.

Anyway, I watch and like Roman Polanski films, so this dude being a twat doesn't put me off the game entirely. It looked cool. Idiots can make good stuff.

I mean, if this tweet is accurate (as posted in the other thread):

Then I sure hope that if they have any Microsoft PR on the nightly shows they press them on why they gave such a person a major platform.
.

What the fuck

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Well here's hoping - I think Jeff would be able to bring it up delicately while not letting them off the hook at the same time.

she did mention the story pirates thing last beastcast but that's pretty cool!

not really all of a sudden, it's been ongoing for like two or three years at this point, which is a pretty depressing thought

i mean gaming was always like this to some degree but it was never as organised really

You have the right to buy the game as much as I or anyone else have the right to not support the guy so I see where you're coming from.

there was some catalyst that kicked it off, but it was a long campaign of harassment from a lot of the young right

and to your second point - it's important to split the art from the artist. lots of my favorite authors and artists have had problematic pasts but there are plenty of games for me to play and i don't need to be giving this guy my money

I do not get the interest in Sea of Thieves at all. The combat looked atrocious and what's the game surrounding the treasure hunting?

Pirate game where you're a crew plundering loot and attack other crews' ships? Cool idea but the execution seems poor.

Why can't I be excited about that game again?

Cliff notes version.
I remember them talking about this guy on a podcast but I've forgotten what the issue was.
Guy's a hardcore Gamergater. The game's about the evils of feminism and how progressivism and a universal wage will lead to dystopia.

You can be excited if you want, but I can't see why you would be.

This shitty guy is making a game about his shitty views. You can't separate the art and the artist on this one.

They only briefly mentioned it, Austin basically said he needs to look into it more and Rob mentioned he might be interviewing that dude later in the show. But Austin did mention that he saw a version of it a way back and wasn't thrilled with the way it seemed to be using cyberpunk just as an aesthetic and not really engaging with the politics the genre was spawned from.

It was quite a long saga with lots of details. The wikipedia should be able to give you a brief overview. If you're down for a longer analysis, this series of videos does an excellent job of dissecting everything.

Isnt it supposed to be a Cypberpunk story? So claiming its about how minorities are actually not oppressed and how everything is fine sounds like you don't understand Cyberpunk and will probably write some shitty garbage. Like if you did the same for X-Men comics. This is the most basic of metaphors and it still goes over your head, you must be a good writer.

Elaborating on my point:

Here's the thing. Either Microsoft didn't know about the creator of this game and its supposed story which means they don't vet the people who they showcase during their press conference, or they did know but didn't care about giving a platform to toxic and terrible views. Which is why if Giant Bomb has any of Microsoft PR come on the show, they should be asked to clarify what and why this happened. And, it should be on Giant Bomb to ask serious questions if given the opportunity.

..............ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh boy

that... hoooooo boy. I mean...

...shit. Like... wow.

Lmao at the games description on Steam
Humans first knew the era of survival. Then they knew the era of work. Now they live in the era of leisure. Machines have surpassed human labour not only in strength, but in precision, intellect, and creativity. Stabilised by universal income, people struggle to find their calling or identity, and define themselves by what they consume, rather than what they create

Universal basic income is the devil!

Where are you getting that part from?

So Waypoint is like Neo Giant Bomb, huh? I got mad early-GB era vibes from watching their Periscope stream broadcast from a house with a treehouse in the backyard. I'll never forget those old LA house streams during E3; so fucking fun to watch.

I thought I hadn't actually watched most of the GOTY last year (I wanted to play certain games, that I still have not played, first), but I remember seeing that discussion so I guess I did see some of it, huh.

Sad I missed the Kessler stream; hopefully that'll be on Unarchived later?

Thanks
I'll watch the archive until Bethesdas conference :)

It's pretty fun, I enjoy it for what it is so far, but they are putting tons of stuff in every time they do a new test alpha. It seemed pretty bare bones months ago, but the act of having a crew of people have one job and switch those jobs around and rely on the others.... It's better than I thought it was going to be. (BTW, I HATE online play, especially with random people, but it totally works for this game)

yeah, sea of thieves is very bare bones right now
i am interested to see the stuff they add over time, like more objectives besides treasure hunting

Can anyone explain to me what milkshake ducking is?

https://twitter.com/pixelatedboat/status/741904787361300481?lang=en

The phenomenon when the internet sees something new and goes "Oh shit that's super cool!" but then quickly realizes a dark truth about the new thing.

For example, Alex/Eric Pope/Casey Malone were having fun when noted actor Tom Sizemore was talking to them on twitter, until someone chimed in to say that Sizemore had physically abused their niece. Ken Bone is another example.

Watching the Kessler eating things video, when asked about avocado he said "Yeah, its that thing you pay extra for at Chipotle... as a joke." Good god, when he said that I literally spit food out of my mouth.

the funny thing is that a cyberpunk story about how all of humanity's survival needs are satisfied and everyone becomes a fat consumerist slug is entirely legit and indeed probably actually in the vein of cyberpunk generally, but if you attach certain words to it you end up looking like an idiot.

like just say the governcorp pumps your veins full of soma or some shit and you're good to go
