I also like that it appears that at least some characters can transform with meter to buff themselves - the one thing I really loved about Budokai's system. Hoping SSB is in there for Goku, and not just a costume or, even worse, a clone character.

I think it is less an issue with the competition and more that people are upset that Capcom is apparently shitting on some of the best fighting game franchises (SF, Marvel) with their recent efforts. There is going to be some hostility towards the developer when one's favorite franchise is treated that way.

This game is going to be seen by many as the Marvel fix that MVCi is seemingly not going to give.
