Dragon Ball FighterZ (PC/XB1/PS4, BN/ASW, UE4, early 2018, beta Sum 2017) E3 trailer

I don't see how did that shit on them one game is being supported very well with a very active players base and one we don't know anything about yet and still not released.

We know a good bit about Infinite and there is plenty to be concerned about if you are looking for an MvC2/3 type experience. 2v2, no assists, and if the leak is to be believed a smaller roster. But note that I bolded the word seemingly for a reason. It seems like a person looking for that experience is not going to be satisfied at the moment, but that could change.

Love how Frieza's Kienzan... I mean Destructo Disc hurts him as well. Attention to detail!

Guys this game is going to be nothing like Extreme Butouden, watching 1 minute of gameplay should make that clear

I watched more than 1 minute and I'm already seeing alot of stuff EB, not just animations either. And its not a bad thing either since EB isn't that bad of a game, just needed more polish and on systems that better support fighters.

Eh Looks like an evolution of what started with the 3ds game to me, some moves and animations are similar, not that it's a bad thing... thought it was pretty damn underrated and some people don't seem to know it exists.

A group of people with stockholm syndrome doesn't speak for everyone.
I don't know about you but I'm enjoying SFV more than i did work SF4 and isn't this the case with every SF game once the new one is out some of the fans will cry about how it's not similar to their old one? I still remember people bitching about SF4 when it was released.

Yeah that would be like telling people to check out guilty gear 1 if they want an idea how xrd is :P

Impressive ASW, you're giving me reasons to believe in you! This really looks more and more like (much with Extreme Butouden), it's building off the SNES games ideas, and re-imagining them for what's become of fighters since then.

Which rocks, as it seems like it's always had a solid foundation.

But then you get into the extra-nice refinement details that many modern games drop, but are perfect for DBZ:

  • You can see Cell's random finger shots destroy specific tiles in the world tourney stage.
  • Stages seem to have their own varieties of special KOs (in the first NICO stream vid, Gohan smashes Cell into a building nearby.)
  • Stages have destroyed variations after catastrophic supers (Such as going from normal to Destroyed Namek).
  • There is a level of permanent destruction (when the floor is totally destroyed by attacks in the WT stage, the tiles stay broken, but this doesn't impede gameplay).
  • Beating someone in a transform stage seems to maintain that state in victory poses (Frieza is seen in his golden form in victory pose, after a win).
  • Transitions to the next round are FAST. It looks more like a friend coming to help after his partner is KO'd.
  • The "Get ready... FIGHT!" style stuff begins with energy gathering to the words, and then exploding from them before the match starts. Just a nice way to make even the base UI seem a bit hype.

The combo systems and collision boxes look pretty simple (giving me less worry about character sizes causing issues), which is actually always a boon when you have to learn 3 fighters to play effectively. Wall bounces, air chases, and tossing projectiles from the sky after spiking an opponent seem fairly universal, and they also seem to do a solid amount of damage.

The movelist look nice so far, too. Frieza is shown tossing multiple projectile varieties, beams and ki volleys seem to be multi-directional, and we've got a heavy sampling of pretty much all the special stuff DBZ games have tossed into the characters over the years, mixed with some ASW flavor. Watching Fat Buu beat a person into the ground, only to then explode into a full-screen blast, as what seems to be a NORMAL MOVE, is the kinda hype Capcom perfected with the Darkstalkers series back in the day. Nice to see a 3D fighter carry on in this way properly. It's probably done better here than in GG, since DBZ's idea of what's "normal" in combat is pretty ridiculous compared to most contemporary fighters.

So I guess Picollo = Green Dhalsim is pretty guaranteed for this product too, lol. I always loved how the games potentially do more with his stretchy limbs than he ever does in the show / movies.

Once people master how to use Assist, save meter for warps, and learn how to OTG / combo extend properly, this will likely be quite a phenomenal, possibly very frustrating game.

Here's official gameplay, looks so good!!

They might not even have Black Panther on their core roster.

I'd feel sorry for them if it seemed like they made an attempt.

This isn't a Street Fighter thread.

when i saw the gameplay i'm instantly reminded of that hokuto no ken fighter arcsys did
some guilty gear systems as well
bamco chose correctly in arcsys

This may be the first fighting game to sell AAA numbers. It's so nice and the gameplay is so reminiscent of Marvel. Loved Freizas wake up super, it's like its own super move. You can see Freizas beat up and desperation in it

Man, I'm having trouble thinking of a game that has nailed their presentation this perfectly recently.

Smash definitely gets those numbers, but I'm really curious to see how this does. A ton of my coworkers who normally don't like fighting games are all over this.

This may be the first japanese fighting game to sell AAA numbers. It's so nice and the gameplay is so reminiscent of Marvel. Loved Freizas wake up super, it's like its own super move. You can see Freizas beat up and desperation in it

Fixed. MK and Injustice absolutely sell AAA numbers constantly.

Injustice 2 wants to talk to you lol.

This might be one of the best looking video games ever made...

Like I cannot believe how it looks. Anthem, Metro, Forza... all got crushed by this.

Bring back the old days, when fighting games were the best looking games!!

tottaly agree. It is beautiful

oh i know what the sorbet thing is!

its like the anime when the golden form drops and frieza is weakened he orders sorbet to shoot! its part of the lvl 3 golden form.

Looking good although the Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 game had also close to anime gfx, so it's not a suprise that DBZ can also look nice with a good engine.

Yeah, Freeza's Golden transformation is a level 3 super that gives him extra damage. The sorbet thing seems to be a sort of cover mechanic for when that transformation runs out.

Nope, Frieza had to spend an extra bar of meter to summon Sorbet.

I'm pretty sure it's still related to the transformation. Freeza loses the form and he goes to his knees. The Sorbet animation and meter loss happens there. Maybe he's left vulnerable after the form leaves and it's an optional way to burn meter to protect him during his recovery? That's the only place he uses Sorbet in any of the footage.

it could be a choice in spending meter or not, maybe if you have meter to spare and want to take the shot then you can? makes sense if so. i do wonder if frieza is just screwed if he has no option, free combo on him after golden form would be a high risk
