Giant Bomb @ E3 2017: <>

Microsoft was ahead of Sony for me. People being on stage really helped the pacing and feel of the show, plus there was at least the original Xbox BC bombshell, plus Anthem looks incredible.

I liked Sony's 'no talking' thing last year, but this year soured me on it. If you're just going to show a bunch of trailers, you don't need a stage for that. It doesn't feel like a press conference.

500 bucks and its still 30 fps

Amazing

It's absurd that people thought it'd be anything else. No way they'd let 30 fps and 60 fps consoles play together.

Also people being so fixated on $100 more than the pro is kinda dumb. It's been marketed as a premium console, thinking it would be $399 was silly.

Reminder: I didn't suddenly unsee and stop being excited for some game trailers and retroactively dislike my time watching a press conference because I couldn't add them to an exclusivity list.

I mean absolutely none of them are entertainment in the purest sense. I like to see what each company has lined up. I am not really watching them for enjoyment.

Ubisoft have a killer line-up, as do Sony. Bethesda prob have most of my attention with Wolfenstein, Microsoft are flailing and EA just suck.

That's my thinking on it!

$500 really did wonders for them the first time, didn't it?

Edit: PSVR is not a console

$500 literally because of Kinect. It would have been $400 just like PS4 had they not have made that choice.

Again, people are making it seem like they it's literally impossible to save an extra $100 than expected, especially since that $100 is going to get you way more mileage than a Pro. 4K native games, 4K UHD drive, 4K textures and assets, 4K DVR and ability to save HDR pics/vids, visual improvements to literally every game you already own, backwards compat improvements and more. The Pro is such a half assed attempt at a mid gen refresh, it isn't even funny. There's more like how the form factor on the One X is smaller than the Xbox that was supposed to be THE slim variant. They also actually put thought into the cooling and making it not a jet engine in your living room (my Pro is exactly this)

I'm still going to use my PS4 a lot, but once One X hits, all my third party purchases are going to where I will get the best experience and use of the expensive TV I bought.

PSVR was mentioned because it is a niche product geared to a dedicated bunch of consumers that is "expensive" and yet has still sold over 1 million units. If PSVR can do well, then I imagine a console geared towards a smaller, and similar market, will do just fine.

I feel bad for Bend if they had gotten days gone out earlier I think it would have been more impressive but it just isn't memorable.

Expecting either of these console upgrades to magically double framerates was a recipe for hurt and disappointment.

We'll be living the 60fps dream in Destiny PC, though!

I mean they could make it 60FPS.

They just need to actually prioritise it.

For me -

1) Metro
2) Rabbids
3) The Last Night
4)Wolfenstein

Didn't care for much else. Went to the theatres to see the Sony conference and wish I just would have done something else.

CPU bottlenecks, man. Everyone skimps on the CPU with new consoles.

Any chance it's just dat boi Parity?

Oh and I totally agree with their response to the Sony live theater aspect of making "real" moments like pyro and men hanging upside down. It just seemed unfocused. I didn't sense any theme that would have made sense in tandem with that "artistic" choice? What a disappointing showing.

@geoffkeighley
Destiny 2 is 30 fps on Xbox One X too says @thislukesmith on the show.

I know I should be laughing at Bungie, because it's probably their fault, but still...Microsoft...

Wolfenstein, Metro, Mario x Rabbids

I am super happy those three games exist. Metro is a favorite of mine and seeing it announced made me extremely happy.

Destiny 2 was announced 30fps on consoles a long time ago, why are people treating it like news now

Power means nothing if the devs wont use it. that holds truth for one x and pro alike

That's ultimately why these .5 console upgrades aren't worth it for me. At the end of the day you're still stuck with whatever the resolution and frame rate limits are imposed by the developers. Where I can customize my frame rate, resolution, etc. preferences on PC.

As an aside about graphics on the Xbox One X, take a look at Crackdown 3... Microsoft really needed a nice graphical showcase to launch with.

Microsoft are totally flailing in the exclusively department, I can't disagree, that's why I haven't bought an Xbox this generation. But at the end of the day I only watch these to see cool games, I don't really care whether they're exclusive or not. And I agree, Ubiosoft killed it and was my favourite of the bunch.

I think the between the lines read that makes it news is that they could probably hit 60fps on the One X but they would never do so as they have the marketing deal with a rival console that probably couldn't hit 60fps.

It looked like a cutscene, and I mean that it wasn't real gameplay.

Metro has always transitioned between scripted in-engine sequences and gameplay. Those games/developers have a pedigree, there's very little reason to assume the retail game won't look like that based on prior history.
