Gameplay IS more important and the animations are looking decent, but Capcom should have a higher standard. The new gameplay looks better but its a mistake imo to go with the realistic looking texture treatments theyre going with. Makes the cartoony characters look weird and it doesnt accentuate the realistic characters enough to take advantage of their design.
I was hoping they would take the visual lessons from MvC1 and apply them in 3D, its a real big shame they have not. That game was really, really good visually
there's just no artistry here. it doesn't look too shitty in motion, but it's also completely uninspired

I thought so too but the E3 trailer confirmed the story demo on both PS4 and Xbone.
It's because story mode cut scenes look awful and that's what they keep showing.

Probably because people have been bitching for a year and a half about sf5 lacking single player content. People didn't care about gameplay trailers then.
My feelings exactly. It just looks completely passable. Reminds me of TvC and not in a good way, but I still enjoyed that game for a little while to learn stuff and goof off in.

It was just different timing. You have to let them go a bit further.
They made overall lighting tweaks you can see on other stages. It definitely helped. Same reason KoF started looking weird and then ended up looking okay.

Make sense since they want to appeal to the "mainstream" audience but they could've done a way better job and at least have some gameplay in it. The promotion for this game has been pretty lackluster sadly.

It was a Dah'ren Mohran I believe. Big ol' sand shark type monster. You can also tell the desert stage is a fusion between Wakanda and the MonHun series because there's a silver statue of Rathalos in the background.
