This is great for Conor and Floyd's bank accounts, but it's going to be an awful fight.
Mayweather will dominate, either by knocking him out or tiring him out. People will cry that their money was wasted on the sure-to-be overpriced PPV broadcast and that will be that.
Outside of money there is literally no reason for this fight to happen.

This fight is a by product of sports "debate" shows.
It's fucking dumb. In no way should people believe Conor will be able to beat Floyd in a sport where strikes are limited and there are no takedowns or submissions. Floyd has spent his entire life working in this sport and understanding shoulder movement and reading punches. It's impossible to expect Conor can handle that regardless of Floyd losing punching power.
In an MMA bout or a fight it wouldn't even be fucking close. Somebody like Floyd would have now awnser for Somebody with even a basic understanding of ground fighting, clintch fighting with elbows and knees, or kickboxing skills would be able to handle him. But that's not what this event is. It's a bout with rules limited and with that comes a high degree of skill to fight somebody like Floyd.

In the universe where when you clinch there's no ref nearby to reset the fighters. You have to get out of the clinch on your own. You can't? Oh your opponent took you down and now you can't punch? Wait he's getting your back and now he's choking you? Yeah that's MMA.
As for this fight, it's probably gonna be lame, but the buildup will be delicious and it's a fight you can't miss anyway.

This is legit why I want to see it though. I don't want to see a legitimate fight. If I did, this is certainly not what I'd go for. I want to see this like I want to see a bad WWE ppv.

Mayweather is gonna dodge everything Conor tries, run away and pop him off, for as many rounds as Conor can take. It's going to be unsatisfying, one sided and a complete joke.
At least that is the only way I can imagine this going down. This is not going to be like the legendary days in pride where freak matchups could go either way.

Now that is a fun freak matchup. Because it can go either way. The whole point of MMA was to match different styles against one another, but if you wanted a fair match ups, more MMA rules should have been allowed.
If Conor was allowed to grapple, takedowns, kicks and elbows it would have been a lot different. What does mayweather do in the clinch? What happens when he gets to the ground? Can Conor even catch him? Can Mayweather disengage someone who tries to sprawl or double leg him? Now that would have been fucking interesting.
But this? I think its disappointing. I'm glad Conor gets the paper and I have no disrespect for him or think less of him. I just think its not going to be fun to watch.

This is going to be such a bore... Conor is slow as molasses, Mayweather is the complete opposite (if father time hasn't caught up to him just yet). Conor loads his shots and rarely throws in combinations, add to that the fact that he'll be wearing boxing gloves and his KO power is gonna be diminished somewhat. I predict Mayweather schooling McG in a boring ass 12 round split decision (because Vegas!), and no... Maywheather won't KO Connor because he is not a power puncher... a TKO is possible but only after Connor gasses out (like he usually does) and stops responding to Floyd's punches or defending correctly so that the ref is forced to stop it.

Real talk, all Conor has to do is gradually force his way in slowly, round after round until Lloyd's arms get tired. Then when he's finally in, keep hammering away at his body until his jaw drops and then deliver an overhead straight! It will be called the Conorfish Blow!

PBF should get a tko in the later rounds after conor gasses. In fact it would be embarrassing for him if he couldn't. But it wouldn't surprise me if it goes to decision cuz he's so safe.
In a real fight? The entourages jumps in, someone gets beat to a pulp or shot. Or, both parties end the fight and run away to avoid the police.
They definitely have more control than they should because the hardcore fanbase will be there no matter what. And they don't drive it because they almost guaranteed wont buy alvarez/ggg a few weeks later.

I don't think that's necessarily true. Sure, casuals bring extra money to the sport, but most boxing events are geared towards hardcore and Mexican audiences. Usually there's only one or two fights a year that pique the interest of casual fans.
