The only way this card would be better is if they added a grappling only match between GSP and CM.
lol Conor aimed high and got a shot at the king. I'd say he'll probably retire after this - if he has any sense.
I'm gonna go ahead and say if you think Conor has any chance here, you are a mark. Even the "puncher's chance" is not a valid argument for numerous reasons.
You can be excited for this and look forward to it, but it's not a fight. It's not a competition. It's purely a show. It's entertainment. There's zero sport value here.

**waits for someone to bring up Bruce Lee and/or Prime Mike Tyson**
How would you sell a fight against Mayweather after Conor lost to two unknowns?I really really feel like Conor McGregor should have boxed at least one or two patsies before going against mayweather.
That's not entirely inaccurate, but I think you might be confusing Floyd of 10 years ago with Floyd today. Conner is the longest of long shots but Floyd doesn't have knock out power anymore and he's not impossible to hit.
Floyd would tko Sapp in 10 seconds. Why should any 140 lb guy beat a 220 lb. guy?
That said, Bruce Lee would beat Bob Sapp.
The UFC would have never allowed that.I really really feel like Conor McGregor should have boxed at least one or two patsies before going against mayweather.
My roommate is. Conor stan and hardcore believes he's going to win this despite the mountains of evidence that prove otherwise.
He also said he thinks MMA is a more difficult sport, so that may explain his ass backwards thought process

Floyd today is still more than a good enough defensive boxer to not take a clean power shot from a guy whose power will be diminished (but still great, mind you) fighting with bigger gloves than he's used to.
Floyd won't knock him out, but the result will never be in doubt.
The stages of denial will be so immense if Conor knocks him out, I'd expect at least half of all the people who said it could never happen to say Floyd took a dive on purpose.
I'm at peace with the likelihood Conor loses, but just the idea of it going the other way is exciting for so many reasons.
Yeah that's a good analogy. I used the NASCAR/drag racing one myself, but that's better.just tell him that this is a higly specialised sport.
is the guy who is doing decathlons more talanted than a 100m runner? maybe.
is it the more difficult sport? maybe.
will he beat usain bolt in a 100m race? no.
For the record I don't think boxing is more difficult or vice versa, I think you can't compare the two. Each comes with its own set of rules that differ greatly and contribute to their overall difficultly.Result will be fixed and nobody will 'lose' here although Floyd will win on points.
MMA itself being more difficult, I can see that. Throwing a pure boxer against someone who can grapple aswell as box and kick, I think I can see who has the advantage here.
If this is MMA it might be interesting. As a boxing match.... lol. Might put a very rare bet on Connor just in case a miricle happens.
Lol. This is so dumb. Just easy money for them both.
Take a champion of one thing against a champion of a different thing. Make them fight by the rules of only one of them and its stupidly in their favour.

Calling it now, he's going to knockout Floyd, then be a full time boxer getting them 9 figure paydays. This guy going down in history as the shrewdest athlete of all time.
What's with all the whining? Money gonna win, sure, but it's certainly better to see this legend in the ring again than not, isn't it? Pre-fight antics are going to be entertaining as well.
Uh no.
Conor might survive 12 rounds losing each one but Floyd would stop existing 10 seconds in to an mma bout.
I don't expect a KO ending to this one. Floyd will win, but given this is an exhibition, rather than a proper competitive fight, I wouldn't be too surprised if both of them take it relatively easy. This is why I'm reluctant to pay for this fight. I'll watch it somehow, but no chance I'm paying for it.
They confirmed on the conference call that it is a boxing card only. No MMA.I hope the undercard has some mma and boxing mashups but I'm sure no one else is that stupid . I'll be watching at someone's house.
I also need to get my hands on thousands of Irish flags. So many people are going to turn Irish over the next few months looking for that mayweather loss.
Also what are the odds that Floyd comes to the ring with a leprechaun or wearing a leprechaun hat? I see him going full heel like the sombrero during the delahoya fight.
