Toei has some screwed up priorities sometimes. I understand that they want to protect their property but TFS in general doesn't hurt them at all and there's a strong argument to be made that DBZA is part of the big resurgence of the property in the US within the last few years.
This. Funimation actually did the smart thing & realized that TFS helped keep the Dragon Ball franchise alive until Battle of Gods brought it back into the spotlight. Toei should really get their head on straight in this regard.
I still think at least part of Toei's attitudes to this kind of thing can be tracked back to the likes of the original French dub of Hokuto no Ken, back in the day.
The more Funimation tries to sneak in elements of a known parody of Toei's property into a localization of their show, the more antsy Toei is likely going to get.
