Dragon Ball FighterZ - Characters, Specials, and Stages Discussion

Toei has some screwed up priorities sometimes. I understand that they want to protect their property but TFS in general doesn't hurt them at all and there's a strong argument to be made that DBZA is part of the big resurgence of the property in the US within the last few years.

This. Funimation actually did the smart thing & realized that TFS helped keep the Dragon Ball franchise alive until Battle of Gods brought it back into the spotlight. Toei should really get their head on straight in this regard.

I still think at least part of Toei's attitudes to this kind of thing can be tracked back to the likes of the original French dub of Hokuto no Ken, back in the day.

The more Funimation tries to sneak in elements of a known parody of Toei's property into a localization of their show, the more antsy Toei is likely going to get.

Im not sure why people want Whis, dude just evades all the time, it would be like wanting Korin or something lol. I get it that he is a cool character and all but as for right now fighting isn't his thing.

When it comes to Super my prediction is that we will have no characters from this new arc( Im not even sure if the arc will be over when this game comes out since its taking them 4 months to just create a team lol) so the only characters that deserve a slot are Beerus and one of Zamasu's forms (Black, merged, ssj Rose). Also one of the members here confirmed both SSJB so 4 characters are enough for Super (technically 5 since Golden Frieza is in the game too)

Would be funny if Beerus destroys the whole world in his super and whis appears to rewind time.

So I've been messing around with Extreme Butoden and...

Yeah this is definitely my dream team for this game.

What would be the point of having different character slots for Goku & Vegeta in Super Saiyan Blue? I haven't seen them use techniques in those forms that can't be used in other forms. It would just be a cosmetic change in a game like this. If anything, Vegito should replace the both of them. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Ok so for the record and the clean the air, regarding Taiketsu.

It wasn't because it wasn't "going my way".

It's because of shit like this :

Yeah.... So I literally give no fuck about what the people who made this game think.

Inb4 this attack is in FighterZ o//

only one way bulma works as a character.

If on the same team as Vegeta, Vegeta immediately activates SSJ3 upon bulma taking any hit of damage.

Bulma is removed from the fight and replaced with Vegeta who now has a permanent install.

They could make Bulma work. She could use a mix of technology and assist like moves. We have already seen this as Frieza seems to be able to have Sorbet as an assist command, Bulma could have Jaco or Whis do stuff for her. For the animation, she could do something threatening in the case of Jaco and could bribe Whis with food. Similar to how Phoenix Wright has characters come on the screen for his moves in MvC3.

I don't like having two generations of characters at once.

It triggers me. Like ssj2 gohan and gotenks ? Hell no.

I don't mind if it's villains and stuff cause they could always be resurrected.

You're not, in fact you are right but I think Slaythe said that in his leak they have SSJB Goku and Vegeta as separate characters for marketing reasons (since they are the face of super) so Im taking his word for true

I'll rock SSB Vegeta (point), Goku Black and possibly Beerus.
Gotta rock them top tiers. Unless Vegito makes it and then I might switch Beerus for him.
I might rock different teams actually, it'll be hard to stick a main one.

Any word on an English dub? I'm sure it's gonna happen, especially with "Funimation" being in the trailer, but would still like to know!

Dragon Ball Fighter Z will include English & Japanese voice.

Closed Beta Test will begin for PS4/XBO, this summer.

Can we get this added to the OP?
People keep asking the same question every few pages and given the same Funimation logo answer

Oh me too, I assume both SSB Goku and SSB Vegeta will be there as separate characters, but they might not be.
Which you totally suck.

Blue Goku at least has the likelihood of including the One Inch Punch. Kaioken-Blue and maybe the Mafuba, if we really are getting up to Black. There's enough to showcase how different he is from his Cell/Buu arc counterparts.

I wonder what they would do for Blue Vegeta to make him more unique, besides perhaps giving him back the Garlic/Gallick Gun. Implement stuff like "Final Blow" and "Final Strike" (as Xenoverse referred to them as)?

I think it would be cool if Blue Vegeta focuses more on be beam spamming side of him, making him more into a zoner than his more rushdown focused SSJ version seems to be.

So the beta will be online, right?

Means we can get a decent idea of how good/bad the netcode will be!

It will probably be very similar to past Arcsys games, like GG/BB, but with a lot more people, so good connections will be more common and people may actually care about ranked.

Both those series use Delay-based netcode, yes?

I'm curious if they'll stick with what they have or change it up and go for a rollback based solution.

Trunks' sword attacks in Extreme Butoden are A+. Really hope they carry that over here.

Somewhat related, I always wished that Extreme Butoden was a better game. It's okay, but it feels like it's missing a spark. FighterZ is very much the successor to that game that I wanted.

It would be amazing that BAMCO reveals every character as SNK did it with KOF XIV as the release date approaches.

We're getting a new character/s in this coming V-Jump, so they'll probably follow the new reveal every month model that they do with most Dragon Ball games.

Yes, those are delay based. Some of the best delay based fighting game netplay I've played personally, but still not as good as rollback can be. It's biggest problem has always been a lower number of active players compared to competition, and those that are active don't care about ranked which can turn some off.

They've shown no signs of going for rollback before, so it's probably unlikely that they will now, but anything is possible I guess.

I feel like it's really held back by being on 3DS. Not only are the controls hard to get a grasp on (I have the original small 3DS) but the feature set in the game itself is fairly barebones. The sprites are nice, at least, and the character moves reflect a good knowledge of the series.
