Assuming the tournament runs as expected, I think we will have at least one other team member come in clutch besides Goku. Coming in "clutch" may just mean jobbing to Jiren but staying in bounds though. It would be lame if the match ends and Goku is the only one left.
Everyone will hopefully get at least one good moment in the fight though. Looking forward to seeing how it plays out. Vegeta vs magical girl hype.

So I'm guessing that the writers, in their brilliant minds, decided "hey let's continue the rivalry of 17 and Piccolo" once they met and forgot entirely about where Piccolo even stood.

There's a difference though, he was off screen and nobody can feel his power.
I sure wonder why nobody ever fucking mentioned Piccolo, mister trash tier getting one shot by Tagoma, getting on god level. You can't make sense of this.
In theory Piccolo can absolutely get up there, I have nothing against that. He was as strong as 17 after all. It's, once again, how they handle it.

Gohan is a dick when he fights man, poor ol Tien was under the impression the whole time it was just gonna be a light sparring match and then Gohan straight savages him, no mercy while Goku couldn't give two shit about his teammate.

The mere fact that Piccolo got mentioned with Gohan fills me with joy.

That reminds me. People have been kind of down on 17 lately, haven't they? That seems weird to me. They aren't going to bring him back after so long just to bench him immediately.
Freeza's resurrection seems to have taken the air out of the 17's sales, but Freeza becoming a recurring character doesn't make as sense as 17. He's already reformed, he's on a level similar to Goku, he's got personal relationships to other heroes, and he hasn't been explored much yet.
If he doesn't get a larger role later on, he's going to have a prominent one during this tournament.
That's just proof that he took Dickolo's training to heart. No holding back son.

I hope Gohan changes outfits for the tournament. I may be in the minority but I liked his base hair in Resurrection F. Clearly taken from his cell saga hair style. It'd be cool for him to go from that to mystic form hair instead of the vegeta look he has going on.

To be fair, we can't make sense of much of anything in DB
And yeah the power levels thing has been handled poorly during the entire show, moreso than back in the day (since, despite power creep being a thing, you saw characters train a whole damn lot).
Gohan should have kept the hair. It made his transformations pop.
I really wouldn't worry about 17.
It was decided early on he'd be one of the mvps.

I disagree that Tien is below Roshi. I don't think Roshi has a single move that could have scratched Cell.
um Cell was killed by a Kamehameha, the move INVENTED by master roshi
Goku's sign always read GOKU, it's just on the wrong side.
R R could be a problem but it's mostly hidden ne the scarf.
M I R should say M I R on any side. Unlike Goku's sign, it's in the middle of his shirt.
Oh yeah.
Still triggers me less than the sign. Maybe because the design is newer while Goku had the sign for 20 years in one particular spot.
Plus I'm Goku's case they could have just removed it entirely which makes things worse.

Gohan was at full power against ssj2 Goku and he got hit plenty of times.
Gohan did zero damage to Goku. It's kinda like Vegeta vs Beerus.

Gohan didn't really take Goku by surprise, the tiny scuffle when he was blue was even.
I can't read it either, but it's about Goku not being able to ride on his flying cloud because he's been lying to his friends to get them to help him with the Tournament of Power.
