Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor fight finalized for Aug. 26 - It's on!

People who find Floyd boring should stick to watching Rocky IV tbh

He's not exciting to watch as most people prefer brawls than technical boxing matches. I do too if I'm being totally honest. I can totally respect his speed, skills and strategy but I prefer something a bit more visceral than the stuff Floyd does these days.

Floyd WAS more exciting when he was in his 20's. He declined and adapted.

Hes just a boxing masterclass. What he did in the Cotto or Canelo fight was absolutely tremendous. Such a shame that hes basically human slime outside of boxing. Why does it have to be that way :(.

Another Canelo fight would have been 100x more exciting, but I don't think Floyd wants to take the risk. Easy money is his game.

First fight wasn't close and while I would say Canelo has improved a bit since then, his progress is nowhere near good enough to make up for the skill gap we saw that night. Floyd is also 40 and has little to prove.

I like an aggressive exchange or two, at least the threat of a potential knockout. Watching Floyd is like a baseball game where there is only base hits and no chance of a home run. You have to respect what he does, but there are so much more entertaining fighters to watch imo. That doesn't mean anyone that finds him boring expects all out brawls in boxing matches. Earlier in Floyd's career he was more aggressive and entertaining, but he's not the same fighter now.

Mayweather Vs GGG would be more compelling for Floyd since he doesn't do too many rematches,( I can only remember 1).

The crazy thing to me would be Mayweather making the fight close on purpose and then lose on a fluke. He can't know out Connor and Connor can't box (far as we know) so for me, it has 12rounds all over it

Mayweather has zero reason to keep this fight close. By the time the bell rings his money will be secure. A close or compelling fight doesn't benefit him at that point, and he's likely retiring anyway.

I've never rooted for him but there's a lot you can learn from watching his fights.

That's my mentality about it. Purely about the craft.

His fight with Demarcus Corley was nice. I suggest anyone check that out on youtube if they haven't.

He gave Marcos Maidana and Jose Luis Castillo rematches. He's had the most trouble with intelligent "Mexican style" fighters.

Southpaws give him some aggravation but not nearly as much.

I think alot of it had to do with Canelo going in with the wrong gameplan. Would he have still lost? Probably, but he did nearly nothing that fight.

Also 152, so....

Floyd can KO Connor in about 30 seconds if he chooses to. Just depends on if Floyd wants to put his brittle hands at risk by throwing hard shots.

Even if he doesn't, he can get a quick TKO because he will be able to land at will, and most refs won let a guy eat dozens of punches without fighting back for more than a round or so.

Old man Floyd will drag this out just like every other match.
I'm expecting shenanigans WWE Wrestlemania Sting vs HHH level.

He is boring now because he's old. He was an exciting fighter all the way up until he retired the first time. When he came back he wasn't the same less aggressive more safety first. Only really true exciting fight he had after he came back was against Cotto.

McGregor will go down, boxing is not a stupid sport when you're passing more time smelling the ass of your adversary instead of being in front of him.

Boxing > MMA.

Helio Gracie put this crap to bed decades ago. Boxing as a fighting discipline on its own is simply outclassed by a few others. Techniques like Mayweather's philly shell would be rendered useless after a few strong kicks to the thigh or a few knees to the head after being put in a thai clinch. Take the fight to the ground with strong wrestling or jiu jitsu and now you're in a world that boxing doesn't have any answer for, you're completely helpless.

All of those techniques developed specifically around the ruleset of boxing are entertaining in their own way but as much as you don't like smelling that ass, you will and you'll proceed to get your arm torn from your socket.

Of course not, it's ridiculous to suggest Ronda or Conor could beat Floyd.

My point was sometimes people that know a lot about certain topics talk absolute bullshit because they're overhyped on something/someone.
I agree with this but in Hogan's case I think he's gone off the deep end. i used to like him but lately everything he says seems either canned or company line or batshit.

I've been watching MMA for longer than many here have been alive. It's not something I'd use to back up my ridiculous statements about this high art form.

And Kenshiro already shows us that Hokuto no Ken means you are already dead. Once your pressures points are hit your head's gonna explode.

The more I think about this fight the crazier it seems.

Two significantly different sports with completely different rules and neither trained professionally in the other sports fundamentals. One that requires a defence that needs to be open so they can react to a large variety of different attacks with a larger fighting space to accommodate full body dodging and another that has a very tight defence to protect the head and body that is fought in a tight arena where dodging is primarily driven from the hips a quick foot work. Its like getting Barcelona to play American football against the New England Patriots.

So happy for Mauro Ranallo.

Seriously awesome to hear.

Any word yet on ring announcers? I'd love it both Buffers were involved, with Michael introducing Mayweather and Bruce introducing McGregor, plus the combined intro...

Bruce: ANNNNNNND NOOOOOWWW....IT'S TIIIIIIIME!!!!!!!

Michael: LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLLLLLEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Best news. It would have been insulting to not have him be a part of the broadcast team.

Expert in calling boxing and MMA.

I fully support a dual Buffer ring announcing setup

It's gross how much media attention this is getting while an actual fight between P4P 1 & 2 this weekend is off the radar.

Here's Footage of McGregor sparring. Dude might not make it out the 1st with this kind of defense

The boxer Connor was sparring in this vid stated (on twitter I believe) that he could land strikes whenever he wanted to. Floyd has some of the best accuracy we've seen in a boxer. He's waaaaaayyy to fast.

Would love to see Canelo and Mayweather again

This footage is a year and a half old. And it's just that, a spar. Not even a staged spar where he might try and show off some skill

McGregor's footwork is awful. Floyd can likely knock him down without throwing a punch, simply by crossing his feet up and feinting him into a stumble.

I'd burst out laughing if Mayweather could actually trip Conor up like that.

His footwork is actually very good for mma, his actual sport.
Obviously this isnt goingto bea competitive fight. Connor likes money.

I remember UFC 1 when Royce Gracie beat a former golden glove without him even landing a punch.
