Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor fight finalized for Aug. 26 - It's on!

Floyd is just a pathetic person in a lot of ways. I feel bad for people who try to carry water for him by repeating "it doesn't matter what he does outside of the ring!" as if that's convincing anyone in 2017, where the character of celebrities matters more than it ever did in the past. You don't get to just say "shhh" about domestic abuse and support of despicable fucks like Trump and foreign dictators trying to kill gay people. His "beautiful" boxing defense doesn't mean shit stacked up to that. He's a borderline sociopath with dead eyes in his life and even inside the ring.

The sooner he fades out of the spotlight the better. Guys like Anthony Joshua represent boxing way better than he ever did.

Floyd is most definitely an extremely extremely stupid person. This is well documented. He has a long long history of angry and racist outbursts, where he says incredible stupid things, and doesn't understand there might be a backlash. If someone doesn't think Floyd is stupid they haven't been paying attention at all. He also after a fight in the ring admitted to injecting both his fists with xylocaine, a steroid painkiller, on live TV on HBO, but then at the press conference afterwards, not 20 mins later, claimed he never said that. Stupid. Just a few small examples.

Lets not forget that Floyd also got conned out of 15 million dollars by some scam artist named 3 Coma Joe, who promised him a get rich scheme in which he would turn 15 million into 5 billion. And why did he come back when he did, after his first retirement, when he ran off to avoid difficult opponents? Because he had an unpaid IRS tax bill of $6million and was facing prison. Floyd isn't exactly the sharpest tool around.

Also, think it's ridiculous to say Floyd is the most technically sound boxer. That's patently not true. Floyd can't fight on the inside. He clinches and uses his elbows when people come on the inside. Both are illegal, even clinching, hugging, or wrestling as per the rules. Once boxers started influencing and choosing the refs, at some point excessive clinching became a much more accepted part of boxing, that is often afforded to the hometown fighter.

Yeah, Floyd doesn't really have knock out power, because his hands have been completely gone for almost 15 years. That's why he only fights in Las Vegas its the only place where the steroid painkiller xylocaine is legal in sport, and because the Nevada Boxing Commission allows Floyd to do whatever he wants including cheating and using performance enhancing drugs.

The whole sequence of events that led to Floyd sucker punching Ortiz, who wanted out of the fight and probably could've gotten up - is a famous quiter - was because Ortiz was angry and frustrated Floyd was using his elbows to beat him up whenever he came in close, he complains about this to the ref during the fight and pleads for Floyd to be docked points. This is one of Floyds greatest tricks, his use of elbows to keep people from the inside is well known, and is completely illegal obviously.

Someone who doesn't have the skills to fight on the inside and only uses illegal techniques to survive on in the inside is not the most technically sound boxer ever, lol. And Victor Ortiz is not that good. Not a has been, a never was. Floyd's career is far too selective, which is why so many boxing fans don't think much at all of his undefeated career. If Floyd wasn't such a pussy that he had to retire twice to avoid opponents he would've had multiple losses.

Floyd is a woman beater, who rarely fights any interesting opponents. A useless and uninteresting man. His craft is boring and depends on cheating techniques and soft opponents. And no, hardcore boxing fans don't really tune in to watch Floyd. That is an utter myth. Floyd's big numbers all come from fighting big name opponents, usually faded old big name opponents. His numbers come from the opponent, and from a decent African America base, as proved by his last fight when he got very very low numbers, relative to his normal numbers. Floyd never really broke out of that, never carried a PPV through just his name.

The best fight of the year is only a few weeks after this garbage fight, Canelo - GGG. Floyd not only doesn't care about boxing, he seems intent on destroying it, that stupid, selfish piece of shit. One of the biggest and most important fights for boxing in years, Canelo - GGG, a fight that would bring in more casuals into boxing, he is cockblocking with a fight that is sure to turn hundreds of thousands of potential fans off. Floyd is such a cancer on the sport.

Don't know nearly enough about Floyd or boxing to evaluate the truth in this... but it's pretty savage.

Did they mention if Conor is training for this fight with Kavanaugh/Roddy or if he brought in a specialist boxing coach?

I hope Anthony Joshua reigns for a long time but Andre Ward should be a bigger star in boxing than he is. It's a damn shame his overall great showing last night will mostly go untalked about because of this. His accomplishments and general integrity should be celebrated but they aren't.

As for Floyd, I've watched him be an awful human being ever since I got interested in boxing 12 years ago. Pretty much every fight of his I kept hoping someone would put him away. After a while the intense rage just wore me out and didn't do anything to Floyd. I can't help but get into the mechanics of a fight because I'm a nerd about this shit but my advice is 1) don't put money in his pocket and 2) dismiss him as a person worth your time and energy and acknowledgement. His day could very well come one way or another(probably in court).

Not gonna dispute the bulk of your post but this is kind of exaggerating his reliance on elbows on the inside.

Initiating a clinch is not illegal and all boxers have to know how to do it. Floyd controls his opponent's posture (neck, arms) the way a wrestler or nak muay even would do and this is fine. Yes obviously it can be a stalling position but it's a legitimate tactic in boxing to tie up to prevent the other guy from just blasting you, vs just shelling up in close quarters.

Two videos on this:

Infighting isn't just punching.

And yes he is a dirtbag

True about Ward. I recorded yesterday's fight, still have to watch it.

This is amazing. No wonder Floyd continues to get the big paydays. I knew people hated him, but damn, I didn't think it was this bad........

You really are delusional if you think true boxing fans don't tune in to watch Floyd. I bet you think we don't watch Andre Ward with his "boring style" or Rigo too.....SMH. The hate is too real man.

Legit question. Who's better in this era in your eyes?

So much anger, so little substance. I'll be back to parse through and destroy later.

I doubt there is anyone who will disagree with Floyd being a piece of shit, but that is his appeal. He feeds off of people hating him and paying money in the hope he will get knocked out. That's how boxing is. You don't have to be likeable or have any supporters to be successful in boxing. Most of the time, it is better if everybody hates you and wants to see you get knocked out.

Anthony Joshua will have a longer career if he beats everyone up and turns into an arrogant prick.

I'm sure Conor is working out with leg weights on every day to improve his dashing speed so he can force a surprise infight with Mayweather

Hajime no Ippo is a cartoon breh :P

Serious question though.

Who is taller, naturally bigger, has longest reach etc?

Floyd usually fights people who are either naturally smaller or naturally weaker.

So many times the case is that the other guy will be stronger and rough Floyd up etc etc etc but on fight night Floyd turns up looking physically strong and able to either withstand or do his own rough housing when he wants.

If McGregor is taller or has a longer reach, he MIGHT have a chance in hell if he can actually box.

If he's actually naturally bigger/heavier than Floyd then I might actually pay to watch the fight.

If McGregor has no physical attributes that give him an advantage over Floyd, I don't see why anyone is watching the fight.

Failing that, unless someone can tell me how McGregor has superior offensive, defensive or technical boxing ability, I don't see why anyone is watching the fight.

McGregor is considerably larger than Floyd by frame and has a longer reach.

This was 8 years ago and after a 2 year retirement, unless Floyd discovered the fountain of youth, i doubt his body can react this fast anymore even if he thinks it can in his mind.

Okay, how about something from his last fight nearly 2 years ago

He might not have the speed he used to but it'll still be faster than anyone McGregor has faced. And according to this video, Mayweather is already looking great during first official day of camp. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsjcGZ-RC_Y

Sure you will.

Shadow knows what hes talking about.
He's a shitty person but you and shadow are both off your rocker about his career.

I have NEVER seen so much Floyd hate. Holy shit. Hate him for being an awful person, but to deny that he's just a good boxer is honestly, stupid

What can Conor do in boxing that's illegal without getting DQed? Low blow? Random elbow shot from the clinch?

He's not going to win a draw on points, so might as well bend the rules to try to get the KO.

I would love to be a fly on you FM haters wall for a month and see just how much of a piece of shit you are in life. i'm sure you have some sick fetish or habit/lifestyle that most would disagree with. You hop on message boards and call him a woman beater and all kinds of stuff. You weren't there and have no idea what happened in those situations. He employs and takes care of a BUNCH of people, feeds homeless and is a overall philanthropist when it comes to giving back to the poor. Doesn't drink doesn't smoke or take drugs like a lot of you do. Maybe it would be better if Bob Arum was still taking all his money and he wasn't his own boss receiving a fraction of what he deserves like Conor Mcgregor and a lot of these fighters are doing currently. Maybe you guys would feel a little bit more comfortable.

When I show my white coworkers his mansions and jewelry/cars they all are disgusted. It seems to be more of a white thing because it seems to me they hate to see someone black living that way. He earned it the hard way. Was in the gym since he was 5/6 years old with his dad. Didn't sell drugs, wasn't some rapper talking about some druglord shit. It was literal blood sweat and tears from all the way back to childhood. He had a gift and stuck with it. Got smart and formed his own company, you know the American Dream. It would seem we would all celebrate and try to emulate. It hurts me that FM has to go all the way to other countries in order to be appreciated. At least by the white population. Any other country supports their fighters, wholeheartedly. We are so divided as a nation we can't even support someone who fought and wore the red White Blue in the Olympics for us.

As far as him being boring....i beg to differ. The fact of the matter is he got older and his hands got brittle from being broken multiple times (just like his father and Rodger). He changed his style like smart athletes do as they get older. He became more defensive and relied more on the other fighter to bring the action as he counterpunched and outsmarted his opponents. Yes the Berto fight is the only fight I could call boring but there still was a lot there to appreciate. It is not his fault if fights are boring to casuals. There is another boxer in the ring who needs to fight also...put the blame on them. They knew good and damn well how FM fights before they got into the ring.

Now to CM. Yes it is a circus but one I can't wait to watch. I believe FM will come out on top and be victorious. I am interested though in CM gameplan. If I was him I would come out and try to bully FM like Marcos Maidana did. It may have some success. It probably won't matter though bc I fully expect FM to toy with him for as many rounds as he wants to appease the fans for their $100 purchase. He will take CM into the deep end and drown him after the 6th though.

Floyd is a quality fighter anybody that knows anything about boxing will tell you that. He as also made quality fighters look average on near enougth every occasion.

People seem lost on just how different a boxers timing and awareness is from someone who doesn't box. There's a lot of levels to this thing and Floyd was at the pinnacle in his era. Even if he's lost a step, that wouldn't be enough for most top level boxers to close the gap, let alone a guy making his professional debut who's been toyed with in sparring by Chris van Heerden.

And yes. Floyd knows how to fight inside. He usually elected not to let his hands go in recent years. McGregor's body could get eaten alive if he tries to keep it close.

When I show my white coworkers his mansions and jewelry/cars they all are disgusted. It seems to be more of a white thing because it seems to me they hate to see someone black living that way.

Are there racists who hate Floyd? Of course.

You're being disingenuous to assume that it's just racists and just white people that take issue with Floyd Mayweather. Many dislike him for a lot of the same reasons they dislike Trump. Anyone with common sense will tell you they've both been aggressively distasteful egomaniacs for a long time.

If these coworkers of yours are really that disturbed and insecure about a black person being rich then they need psychiatric help.

The problem is that Floyd denys any wrong doing when his own son's testimony clearly indicates he beat his wife at the time. I can forgive mistakes, I can never see a man as a man if he lies about beating a female. Especially coming from a place of privilege, with his hundreds of millions of dollars. Be honest, that's where true integrity lies. It doesn't matter if you help your peoples if your integrity isn't intact on the inside. That's why people hate him.. he is doing a disservice to his own legacy. Floyd will go down as one of the greats, but he won't go down like Ali did.

Canelo Alvarez.

Ask him how that size advantage worked for him. And unlike Conor he actually has a solid career in boxing.

Floyd's own son said he beats women, yet Floyd denies it. Men don't put their hands on women, its that simple, and its especially fucking cowardly to lie about it and act unrepentant. As far as I can tell, Floyd thinks he has the right to beat the shit out of those women and then act like it never happened.

And there's a big difference between disagreeable lifestyle choices and beating women. Doing drugs or having fetishes or whatever the hell you're talking about isn't putting innocent people in the hospital with bruises all over their face. Your desire to defend the indefensible speaks volumes.

Also, trying to make this a race thing is just a fucking laugh.

The guy in that picture is a Chechen dictator who tortures and kills his own people, among other atrocities.

The dude seems a bit irrational defending Floyd. Here is him in another thread defending Mayweather.

I would love to find out what u do that's not in the spotlight and exploit it so all eyes can see how you yourself is a piece of trash

Love how you call people racist, then casually state that his only other alternatives are rapping about being a drug lord or selling drugs, and we should totally respect him for not doing those. As if those are the only alternatives for black people.as if rap is about drugs. This is white supremacist narrative, and you call other people racist. Lol

I'm sure Conor is working out with leg weights on every day to improve his dashing speed so he can force a surprise infight with Mayweather

Rofl.. You guys haven't watched many Mayweather fights have you? Floyd fights on the inside/in the pocket way better than a "boxer" (the fighting style) has any right to. This guy beat Hatton at his own game and demolished him. If Conor wants to take his L in a hurry, in fighting is gonna be the end of him.
Merchant, a harsh criticism of Floyd, once said "this is the versatility of Floyd. He can outbox you, he can out punch you, and if need be he can out brawl you".

Don't know nearly enough about Floyd or boxing to evaluate the truth in this... but it's pretty savage.
A lot of it is false lol. Quick notes, floyd fights in the inside very well. Xylocaine isn't banned in most states actually. He's just parroting shit pactards used to say when they were trying to bring Floyd down.

Doesn't fight interesting fights? Lol who's the next boogeyman are y'all gonna build up as the one to take floyd out? It's always the same song and dance. "Floyd is scared to fight fighter X." Floyd signs to fight X and easily wins. "he cherry picked fighter X! But he's scared of fighter Y!" rinse and repeat. Floyd can never win with his haters.

Say what y'all will about Floyd outside of the ring, but floyd inside the ring is a fucking genius. Y'all gotta separate the art from the artist.

True about Ward. I recorded yesterday's fight, still have to watch it.
You're in for a treat! Excellent fight. Ward was amazing.

Unless there is actual proof of floyd hitting a woman, why should I believe any of them? How do I know they aren't lying?

Floyd usually fights people who are either naturally smaller or naturally weaker.

Ya man... A guy who started at 130 and climbed 6 divisions all while always being outweighed on fight night (except for JMM) always fought naturally smaller/weaker opponents....

Sorry it may not be a "race thing" in your case but I believe black athletes are definitely hated more than their white counterparts. It also seems Black athletes are seen as particularly irredeemable. Spousal abuse is a terrible thing but it's also a pretty common thing. Does everyone who makes mistakes deserve to cast out forever? As a black man when I see Floyd I hope that he turns his life outside of the ring around instead of hoping for his demise. I take the time to consider the poor environment in which he was raised and how terrible his own dad was.

These threads always go in the same direction. He's a POS and should die. Doesn't matter that he served time for his crimes, doesn't matter that he may still have a relationship with the women. Nothing matter besides he's a bad person and bad things should happen to him. People are even trying to discredit his career because they hate him so much in this thread.

Are some of us still entertaining the ridiculous notion that Conor McGregor has anything more than an infinitesimal puncher's chance in this fight or are we now all ready to accept that we're really just paying for the pre-fight hype, spectacle, drama and press conference antics and trash talking that will surely be more entertaining than the bout itself?

No one is saying he deserves to die. If you don't want to acknowledge who he is, fine, but don't come in here getting mad at people who do. I'm a pretty forgiving person, but this guy doesn't even admit what he does to women and doesn't act even the slightest bit repentant. He just goes on and on about how he makes a lot of money so that makes it all ok, and then boosts up motherfuckers like Kadyrov and Trump.

If the day ever comes when he decides to change, good for him, but the excuse that his background was rough doesn't hold water at 41. People can change if they want to.

Please. 2 of 3 months? Hardly serving time.

"Josie Harris, Mayweather's former long-term partner and mother to three of his four children, doesn't see Mayweather much these days. Occasionally he will collect their children in person, but more often than not they are transported using the jet service he uses for much of his travel outside of Las Vegas."

Seems like a great working relationship.

Floyd's judge said this, "beating a lady is highly critical, [but] it is not a major sin or crime."
Hm. Interesting. If I assault someone it is highly critical, but not a major sin or crime. I wonder where that line of thinking originates from.

"(It means) I don't have to take a Xanax before he comes, otherwise I will be sweating bullets," Harris told USA TODAY Sports in an interview at her home 50 miles northwest of Los Angeles. "For some reason I still get anxiety when I know that he is on his way. I have no idea why, but I get really overwhelmed when I know that I have to be around him."

This woman had to take xanax to calm her nerves before he came home and you think 2 of 3 months is fair?

Oh he came from a broken household? Okay, I understand that affects people.

"Harris says she suffered physical abuse from the boxer on "six occasions," the worst coming in September 2010, when Mayweather entered Harris' home as she slept, yanked her to the floor by her hair, then punched and kicked and screamed cuss words at her in front of their children. It was the couple's oldest son, Koraun, who slipped out of the house to alert a security guard to summon police."

He did that shit 6 times. 2 of 3 months. The woman that birthed his children? That's not justice. Slap on the wrist. Hey I appreciate what Floyd does in the ring. He is a master. I am a fan of all forms of pugilism as long as it isn't a man beating a defenceless woman.

well i guess it is time to see how superior boxers boxing skills are compared to mma fighters, mcgregor is gonna look like a straight up novice after the 4 round.
