Are we at the point where we argue about Japanese OST vs American OST?

Because no one is gonna convince the other side about anything, especially when both sides are adamant that the other is the worst thing ever created in life.

Right? lol I don't get it people are gonna like what they are gonna like you aren't gonna make somebody be like "oh you know what your right my preference is shit and yours is better"

I've long since given up on trying to "convince" the other side that the Japanese version is better. Everyone has their tastes set in stone. I think it would be a cool gesture to really go after that nostalgia/true-ness to the show by including the actual BGM from the show.

Luckily, with a PC version, we can get just that!

99% of the American music in Z/GT is worse than the Japanese version. I can only think of 1 time where the American music was better and thats where Gohan finally kills Cell with the Kamehameha.

As much as I love the original Japanese tracks, the DB music I'm most nostalgic for is the game music. Stuff from the SNES and PSX eras are what I most grew up with.

Oh, Kenji Yamamoto...I'll always love your Butoden and Gokuden-era stuff. Hoping that Ishiwatari and his crew will make for a great OST for this game, all the same.

I will make sure not to check that out lol. I loved Saint Saiya as a kid and during my teenage years when we were getting the Hades chapters, but a big part of that was the classic OST too.

I think Kid Buu has a good chance of making it in, he's the final villain of DBZ after all.

IIRC from an interview in Animerica back in '96 or '97 Gen Fukunaga mentioned when asked that they tested the show with both original BGM and changed BGM and the kid viewers had all liked the changed music better so its what they went with.

As usual, I like the way you think.

But in any case, I'm hoping for this too, as I would consider Saiyaman to be likely, anyway. If nothing else, it would make an Adult Gohan entrant a bit more unique visually and gameplay-wise than just another guy on the roster in a orange gi who has a Kamehameha. Also helps that apparently the Producer loves the Saiyaman arc, too, so that should hopefully be another thing to swing things in his favor.

Now, I'm just torn about whether or not I want Videl herself, or Saiyawoman/Saiyaman #2 on the roster in order to "complete the set".

I seem to recall that a number of kids in test groups hated Super Mario Bros. back in the day. Point is: stuff that's new is hard to analyze in a "one and done" format, and sometimes you've just got to give it a chance. I have a hard time believing that Americans is soooo special that they alone would hate the original soundtrack when Europe didn't mind it and now fondly remember it. What about the UK though? Did you guys get the Faulconer treatment too?

I doubt any dub music will make it in. I know the dub OST has some stand out tracks, but people really like how they could never let any moment be silent and had to fill every musical space in-between actual good songs with shitty chromatic noodling? I rewatched the dub briefly a couple years back and that drove me absolutely insane. Gohan Angers is cool when it's not a violin playing nonsense, but the scene is much better with Unmei no Hi (Tamashii vs Tamashii).

Also completely changes the tone of the series. I like the corny old-school movie score, I find it sounds much better and matches the tone of the series. Even the Super OST is kinda meh to me. There is also one song in there that kinda sounds like some Faulconer ass synth lol. Having Disturbed played during anything lessens my enjoyment immensely as well.

This is just too amazing. I honestly don't think the game will sound this good. The hype is too real right now... the world couldn't take that music also being part of the package.

To add for the United States pretty much to that point 98% of all televised anime shows had their soundtracks changed. Only one to actually keep its soundtrack was Ronin Warriors (Yoroiden Samurai Troopers) in '95 and I think Star Blazers (Space Battleship Yamato) in '78.

I do know that for the UK and Canada they got the Season 3 Funimation dub but for Season 4 up got a different dub that included most of the original Ocean cast but still had a different BGM completely different from Faulconer that was a mix of new music and old music cribbed from different shows like Mega Man. Even had new sound effects in it from some of the clips I got to see.

Nah, we got recycled music from stuff like the Megaman cartoon, since it had to all be made in Canada. It wasnt bad just nothing special.

Hikari no WIll Power is my #1 most desired track for this game, so I really hope we get some sick ass Daisuke mix for the game as well.

I always found it funny how they "forgot" Super Saiyan was meant to push hair upwards on Gohan in the cell saga. Its just his base hair but yellow. Super fixed this with the RoF saga.

True lol he still looked pretty good. It was weird how we got some variations of SSJ during the Cell Saga. From Goku's and Gohan's light color hair/normal eyes design to Vegeta's and Trunks' Super SSJ form.

I was also thinking of this! Justified way to include another Gohan along with a more creative moveset too. If Videl doesn't get her own spot then it would be nice to include her in his moveset as Saiyaman 2.

I'm okay with some of Faulconer's stuff, but I still prefer the original Japanese track for DBZ. Faulconer's first Prince of Saiyans track was great. The updated track wasn't as good, but still better than most of the other American DBZ music.

It's a damn shame arc's techniques are so laser targeted and only applicable to 2D plane fighters.

Would love if XV with all the character design potential in the creator could step up to this level of anime look.

Compared to what people can make when they're being serious with the tools, canon DB material feels limited.
