Pacman Fight Hype?

Hype?

The sad part is Pac didn't even get to choose his own opponent in his last fight, if this is it.

If Pacquiao and his promoter Arum weren't on the outs, there is no way Pac would've lost this decision. Pac did try to make a fight behind Arums back, and he has been going around telling people this is his last fight with Top Rank. Arum is ruthless towards fighters who try and leave his stable. He didn't let one of the best fighters in the sport fight for 3 years when he tried to leave, Mikey Garcia.

I think Pac won the fight for sure, but it's not the most blatant robbery at all. Still, it doesn't look good for boxing at all, when almost everyone who watched it, thought Pac won. Corrupt decisions are something hardcore boxing fans have become used to, but they are usually almost always helping the favorite, so the anger tends to be limited.

Pac himself has been clearly robbed against Timothy Bradley, which was a fucking ridiculous decision, and everyone agrees was a robbery. It happens in boxing pretty frequently, and corruptions and robberies are a huge problem in boxing, whether or not you agree this was one.

Is ESPN taking over the UFC television rights? SAS is blowing Dana hard .

There are always bad decisions...

WME-IMG is banking on a huge bidding war over the TV rights for the UFC when it expires soon. ESPN may very well be in the bidding war for it, but given what's been happening over at ESPN these past few years, I don't think they will be so inclined to overpay as much as the UFC hopes.

Here's a good read on the topic: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...challenge-in-meeting-bold-tv-rights-fee-goals

Geoff Horn purfect smash grab and rougth up tactics, showed great fitness deserved winner imo. Will win the rematch Manny should retire.

Apparently it was being scored under MMA rules where elbows, forearms, and your head count as scoring blows....
Like Bunce on boxnation said "ask Ricky Hatton how dirty Pacman is", from what i was hearing from commentary only the American channels had Pacman up on the cards.

haha, I said that earlier.

Doesn't mean the Boxnation lads are right, but they all called that result.

The more people you have watching a shit PPV the worse it is for boxing. Canelo-Chavez was a shit PPV.
So? It made a lot of money. And people swore boxing was dead after May-Pac but The Canelo fight did just fine in spite of that. You really think Canelo-Chavez will kill Boxing? Keep dreaming. You may not like it but it is what it is.

Horn won that fight. Compubox way off on this one, it's just dudes pushing buttons. Teddy had Manny's nuts in his mouth the whole fight, he commentated like he wanted his prediction to come true instead of speaking to the actual action. Watch how apeshit he went in round 9.. when it wasn't even as bad as he made it.. but he wanted so HARD for his prediction to come true.. that he scored it 10-8 when it clearly wasn't a 10-8 round.

Horn won 7 or 8 rounds.

Well your tag makes sense now

I actually thought this kid was besting Pac until that round he almost got slaughtered so I thought Pac had it in the bag after that. Oh well.

I had money on Pacquiao and thought he edged out a 115-113 win but even so I think Horn dictated most of the fight despite missing a lot and kept Pacquiao on the defensive for a majority of it. Horn got his ass handed to him in the 9th (?) but I don't think it warranted a stoppage as showcased by him winning 2 rounds after that.

I don't know what to think of those compubox numbers because the fight certainly didn't seem like Pac got double the amount of punches landed. I still say Manny edged it out but a 115-113 win or a draw for Horn isn't out of the question for me.

I'm in the same boat that Bradley was in. He had a tough time explaining it which I also find myself in. Hell I was agreeing with him when he was saying it was a close fight as it was ending. Everyone was totally shitting on Horn which felt super unprofessional especially in that interview post fight ringside with everyone. I say Pac won but no need to downplay the great fight Horn put up (as dirty as it was). Especially the nut gobbling levels Teddy and SAS were taking it to.

So, you admit Horn won... as you score by rounds... round 9 counts for one round only.

Sorts feel bad for Horn because if he lost he would have been a legendary local hero but instead he's now been vilified by the worldwide boxing community.

I think what's been lost was the valiant effort Horn displayed, plus he showed tremendous heart rebounding from the 9th round and coming back to win round 10 (at least on my card).

I don't think he's been vilified, just that he didn't deserve the win.

I'm curious to see where his career goes.

He'll get a top fighter or two, lose, then fade into irrelevance.

WBO review still gave it to Horn. Vindicated.
Get bent haters. The fact that the WBO let themselves be pressured into this by the Phillipines government is bullshit of the highest order. You can stop concern trolling the future of boxing now Manny.

I'm sure this outcome will get a lot of play in this thread and on ESPN

Good. I thought the 117-111 score was nonsense but 115-113 scores were fine. Totally reflects the close fight that it was and this review agrees that it was close.
