Yeh, obviously it's partly done as a security measure. But having designated areas for each set of fans makes for a better atmosphere, which is something US and Canadian sports events tend to lack.Lol. That's how Canada and US sports are. When you buy tickets from ticketmaster or whomever, you just search for tickets and prices. Buy what you want. All tickets are a free for all for all fans.
Although there are times it seems for maybe some playoff games you see a dedicated section of visiting fans. So maybe in some situations the arena will block off a section. But normally everyone is just mixed together!
