Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster |DT2| oh dear...

One little thing from the UMvC3 lead up that was also nice for fluff were those weekly(?) blog posts about the characters alt color origins.

Oh yeah that was cool stuff.
Man this nostalgia is bumming me out. So many little things they could be doing that practically be free for them to do so.

The MVC3 reveal trailer was FFVII Remake levels of hype for me.

I kind of felt nothing after every trailer/announcement for Infinite until Jedah.

MVC3 had passion and soul behind it. I still remember the Wesker/Spider-Man reveal like it was yesterday. That was a perfect night. The Lupinko hints up to UMVC3's reveal. Man, such magic. Capcom stopped being cool.

The Internet as a whole is way more fickle now, I'm still kind of amazed we're getting a new MvC game to begin with. I actually thought UMvC3 would be the last MvC game.

We're officially two months away from launch and I actually can't wait to get my hands on it.

considering how semi-broke Capcom is, im shocked theres another one, and not surprised in the slightest at how budget it seems.

DBZF is the one with the soul and passion behind this time around, and unfortunately for Capcom they both got announced close to each other so they're compared a lot because they are polar opposites.

To me it's a Battleborn vs Overwatch all over again, but the sad thing is that some of the characters like Jedah look fantastic, I don't understand how can their be so much variance in the character models.

Most likely outsourcing.

I don't know what Capcom was thinking with that absurdly anticlimactic Jedah reveal. They skipped his intro, dropped a bunch of combos, and only showed a couple of his moves. It really makes Capcom seem like a group of three people working out of a garage.

MvC3 had the best pre-release cycle for a fighting game that I can remember (besides Smash). MvCI is probably the worst.
Because they didn't want to make a full trailer since there's one coming at SDCC.

I think Capcom outsourced a lot of the marketing to Marvel, who don't know how to market a fighting game.

Capcom as a whole isn't really broke now. They recovered from the beginning of this gen. However said period where they were basically broke does have them penny pinching more than ever now in-terms of by budget. Though apparently there are still some avenues where they waste for no real reason. Regardless it is hurting their image I fee though. Everyone in their eyes sees them as a AAA company like say Square Enix. But their last few years of output (RE7 included) can't really be said to be as much.

The company is at a odd crossroads with themselves as well as their fans. Due to what they're putting out Vs what their fans want/expect from them.

Newcomers and "resurrected" characters like Thanos should get individual trailers, and returning MvC3 veterans should get group trailers. It's not rocket science.
That would only make it obvious how limited the cast is, I think.

The internet isn't more fickle now than it was back then. And hey, MvCI is probably gonna be the last MvC game, so close enough!

I don't think that the marketing comes from Marvel Games, I feel it's Capcom being weird.

I had thought that this would be the first game to be completely internally developed by Capcom in a long while? I don't think it was outsourced.

You can develop internally but have the character models outsourced. I will say there's probably a back and forth on things though. Jedah was probably done entirely internal. Part of how they're able to save time.

No game on this level is 100% internally developed. They always outsource some things. I'm basing it off SFV which has varying levels of quality with the models which we later found out were outsourced to different people.

The other theory is they just have a lot of their college grads working on this game so it could just be inexperience.

I just realized; we haven't seen anything of Morrigan in the story mode. Maybe she travels with Spidey or something because that would be hilarious.

Maybe Morrigan gets involved at the same time Ghost Rider, Dormammu, Jedah, and Firebrand do? I think she'd be with them in a demon-focused story trailer

I thought the reveal was cool. :[

Keep in mind we're probably getting another batch of characters and a stone reveal from SDCC this weekend and the trailer will surely have Jedah and Gamora, they just gave us a little tease a week earlier. I do agree in general that the group reveal trailers aren't very exciting.

Yeah, that's how I feel about it. It was more of a teaser for this week than an official reveal, which I kinda liked too.

Hopefully it is the latter. Capcom not grooming new talent came back to bite them in the ass.

I liked the Jedah reveal too, it just wasn't rehearsed very well and should've been more canned. We never got a full look at his ground super, only in bits and pieces and it was often off-screen. Works as a set up for SDCC.

I just hope there's a new build for pros to play.

Also one of the great things about the MvC3 individual character trailers was that all the combos they did were very simple and showed off characters' moves and capabilities very clearly within each clip.

I wouldn't go that far. Two fighting games could co-exist much easier than two team based hero shooters.

The marketing
(what marketing?)
hasn't been good for this game, but I will say I love how they made variants for different covers. I hope they continue to do that for each season pass. Am I the only one who feels this way? Does anyone actually hate the variants?

And if they'd do it,
I'd read a (well-made) MVC tie in comic.

Don't know if it was mentioned today or not, but Max streamed a bunch of direct capture footage he got from e3. Good quality vids and good gameplay. Worth watching the archives.

This Friday at #SDCC, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite writers and producers reveal how they built an all-new universe in #MVCI

Maybe there actually is art besides the variants?

Wonder what Capcom and Marvel are going to say when talking about the story mode and how many times they'll say something is "infinite"

Wonder if they'll be taking questions. Wonder what they'll say if someone asked "Will the be any more females in the base roster?"

If there is going to be a Q&A, I can only imagine the trainwreck that will come out of it... If it isn't about why Capcom characters look ugly, it will be why X-men are getting the shaft. Makes me wonder if this will be recorded and posted online (let alone if it will be allowed).

Also why 2 of the few new characters that are in story mode are DLC or why are there only 4 female characters.

What is that weird looking thing with Ultron's face on it?
Just looks like an Ultron dropship to me.

I think it will be neat but worldbuilding for a 2 hour story seems like a strong term to apply unless they do a lot more with it later.

On both those notes, I wonder if there are more NPCs than in the zip leak, and what that might mean for additional playable characters as well. Though the NPCs we got combined with the playable characters sounds like enough fodder to cover a 2 hour story mode.

It's too bad this isn't how the game looks. Even the Arika fighter looks leagues better than MVCI.

Well I would say MVCI is definitely a better looking game with smoother animations but as Maximilian pointed out on his stream last night, the Arika game is maybe made only by around 10-15 people vs Capcom who has a ton of staff and is a major corporation. The Arika fighter for that amount of people working on it looks amazing IMO and to me it looks like the kind of Street Fighter like game I've wanted.

Yeah graphically I think Arika looks better than MvC:I as well. Even when I post a shitty screen shot. Though to be fair the roster for this will be much smaller than MvC:I

...i give up, like for real. That not-SFEX looks like absolute trash (are you kidding me with thise animations) to the point where im still not convinced its not a aprils fool joke. And im a HUGE EX fan (and will be getting it if its real).

Tired of this meme bullshit.

I think it looks pretty hype. It's not like the old games were top quality either.

Arika game did look really rough in the trailer. It barely looks past a prototype though so not worth looking too much into it. Does not look better than Infinite currently.
