Restaurant to Another World EP 3

it's dangerous to watch food anime at 3am.

i thought i would get bored because of the repeated formula but i was engrossed the entire episode. It's probably because there's a new customer every episode, if they can keep up like this for the whole season it will be fun, and they're yet to introduce a character that's in the cover.

They're just not cut out for most OPs, especially shounen ones when you would expect something much more energetic.

I don't understand what you're saying here. The current My Hero Academia OP song is energetic. It sounds like Every Shounen Anime OP Song Ever, with just slightly better than average musical creativity.

Pleasant style but the romantic gags can either be a hit or a down right turn off for me. I don't dislike what this is going for, it's trying to build a lot(in terms of characters and relationship) in a short span of time while also trying to come off as funny. This results in some stories feeling more ridiculous than it warrants and/or annoying. It's probably an interesting exercise for me to take them apart and understand why some stories are effective for me while others aren't. They're all essentially the same setup but characters and chemistry varies. As an entertaining piece, I'm a bit wary, at least if not the jokes the visual style and tone is something that appeases me, reminiscent of Tanaka-kun is Always Listless while not as funny/charming.

It's as though they rolled a set of dice, each featuring a character archetype (regardless of male or female) and tried to build a story around them.

Interesting tid bit I read on twitter on this show's production is that since it is half the length of a normal show, the studio split the team to work on each episode. So episodes 3 and 4 are simultaneously worked on. Likewise, 5 and 6.

New Game + ep.2
Why was there drama in my fun show dammit! All's well that ends well and the new project sounds like it could be fun, but no more workplace drama please. I was started to have weird painful flashbacks...

Yeah best OP of the season is Kakegurui and its not even close tbh, unless the Owarimonogatari s2 stuff has some OPs

This is true. I think Princess Principal OP kinda stand out as well, but it can't hold candle against Kakegurui OP.
I do find it funny that Kakegurui has the best OP and worst ED at the same time. Both of them focus on sexiness, but OP is presented will class, while ED is just, "here, boobs and pantyshot, lol!"

As for ED,the one that better than most are Re-creator ED2, Made in abyss. and Princess Principal.

I actually really like the Kakegurui ED. It's trashy, sure, and not particularly complicated, but its visuals are synced extremely well with its music, which is something I value a lot.

Still going strong with the Tokyo Ghoul memes lol.

Although I can say that their type of music fits well with a more atmospheric and moody type of anime. However, I still feel like the music in My Hero Academia is good though.

New Game!! 02

I was not misled by what the first episode suggested, they are getting serious on the character and career development front. That's something I do not dislike, especially the way it approaches, they've done a compelling job with the events of this episode: Yagami lets out her frustration due to her complex feelings towards the competition when approached by Aoba for advice in that regard. This created ripples to a point that Aoba questions her own conviction towards her dream role. When it comes to development or work in general, I'm glad they understand when to depict something as a joke and when not to and it's not just the two of them but Yun also begins to learn from others.

It wasn't as though they didn't run any particular gag in the episode either, a pretty good one in relation to the main event surrounding Hajime.

At this point, this show is closer to Sore ga Seiyuu than anything else but going by my experience with Seiyuu, I'd say New Game 2 has been more impressive.

Sakura Quest Episode 16:

So the arc ends about the lesson of time being a flat circle in some respects as we see the elders of Manoyama were they themselves rebels. Also, international yuri may be the best kind of yuri.

Magic Circle Guru Guru 2

This is great, it's winning my heart with comedy and cuteness two weeks in a row. This episode's comedy was much better than the first one. Particular favorites:

- As always the serious faces everybody does when they say something cool/serious. Gets me every time because they always lower the pitch of their voice too lmao.

- The henchmen singing the boss monster's song.

- The boss having a script he needs to steal a glance every 4 seconds to read his dialogue for the confrontation.

- The 'seduction' from Kukuri and the new girl was brilliant.

Where the Restaurant Isekai show might be losing its luster, this is only gaining it. The visuals are cute, the comedy is very decent, and the old school jrpg visual/sound gags in every episode combine to a very enjoyable show where before I know it it's over. Need more. Hopefully it runs for many episodes and it's not just a single cour.

edit:
@Hosanna: awesome thanks. The original was apparently 45 episodes, so hopefully it manages to tell the same story in 24 episodes (unless they get a second season).

After finishing all the old Space Battleship Yamato series and movies, I have to say this is the best series Leiji Matsumoto was involved.

Better than the two Harlocks, better than Galaxy Express and Queen Millenia. First two seasons are masterpieces. Movies and season 3 are good too, on par with the titles mentioned above.

Now I'd never have expected it but I liked Yamato more than LOGH. Not only because it is considered the daddy of space operas and countless ideas carried over to other series, LOGH included. It has also a much better pace and animation is much more fluid. Character design too though it depends on personal preference.

In LOGH after a certain character leaves, series loses a lot. Chemistry is kinda ruined. Never liked his replacement. In Yamato the rivalry between the two opponents is carried all over the series and movies. Even after one character leaves season 1, his successor is worthy too.

While LOGH is more detailed and intellectual, with better military tactics, Yamato doesnt lack in those features either.

Both series are great and a must watch btw

Love and Lies 1-3

I actually watched this like 2 days ago but thought it was pretty interesting. Was a bit iffy on certain things in the first 2 but the last one piqued my interest even more. In fact I was so interested that I ended up reading all the translated chapters that are currently available for the series. Can't think of the last romance/drama that got me hooked like this. I am legit upset their aren't more chapters to read. Will continue watching the anime as well.

Stop looking for Astolfo's fanarts, pervs #2

The servants' designs are all over the place. They make Takeuchi's designs look good, at least they are 1) consistent with each other 2) Memorable.

What has Rage of Bahamut ever done to you?!?!

Bahamut is pretty much the exception, and it only managed to be decent because it didn't give a shiet about the original game.

Though, I think it's very hard to make anything interesting with Touken Ranbu to begin with.

From what I've heard of them their output tends towards slower arrangements and I think the lead singer has a very specific way of singing/voice (solemn ? ) that even doesn't quite work that well in the more upbeat or faster tracks.

Fate/Apocrypha Episode 1

I watched the first episode of fate/apocrypha and so far I'm not impressed. They seem to have thought "fuck any kind of build up, lets just have a massive war"

Unfortunately this meant sitting through 25 minutes of tedious exposition so they can get what little story they have out of the way

to be completely fair, a flash forward as a tool to showcase the future followed by a return to the past showing the events leading to that isn't like something unheard of.

It's alright. A lot more comedic than I expected, and while there are similarities with Kekkai Sense or Baccano on the way the characters act, it doesn't have quite the energy of these shows. The deformed faces are cool too.

This isn't what bothered me, I have 0 investment in the characters or setting because they tried dropping the biggest info dump on my face instead of doing a proper introduction to the world or characters

Maybe they thought that if Fate Zero can do an info dump exposition in the first episode maybe they can do it too, since F/Z is considered the best of the series lol

There's also the fact that Fate/Apocrypha takes place in an alternate universe/world than the rest of the series so like...there isn't any history to speak of really.

Maybe my memory is hazy of F/Z, but I don't remember that info dump being as egregious as this one. It was literally 20 minutes explanation being provided about everything and I don't have a clue what any of the characters names are. It also doesn't help that what seems to be the main baddie is called yygdwlkjasdjkevrnjkl.

That Quiz Bowl Anime 3

Yeah, her voice acting isn't improving anytime soon.

Also, I don't know if the subs gave away the Westminster Abbey question quicker than how it was spoken, but I guessed the answer within a second based on "The Abbey" bit alone.

Aho Girl Ep 3

Transcendent Trash. Aho's Mom best character

Princess Principal Ep 2
Now this was much better I thought they handled the tension well even if
the note passing between Charlotte and the Princess
was a bit of a cheat. I still wish they had gone another direction design wise but if they can continue to deliver, I'll deal.
